One of these years I'm gonna go there. I swear it!!

Last Saturday I went to a cousin's wedding. She married a guy whose family came over here several years ago from Scotland. Where I want to go so badly!! Apparently his father is the head of the Scotland bank in New York. WOW! I have no idea why he and some of his siblings live here in Illinois though. But I was told that his mom divides her time between New York and here. She will literally fly into Chicago to go babysit for his sister and brother-in-law. Must be nice.

Anyway, the whole reason I brought it up is that he went traditional and wore a kilt. So did several of the other men including his ushers and a couple of the groomsmen. But to top it off so did the two ring bearers. One was 2ish and the other was 4, maybe 5. They were the absolute cutest things running around in their little kilts. I tried to get a photo with my phone but they wouldn't stay still. I so regret not taking our camera. My mom was able to get a few photos of the older one during the reception though.

And the flower girl. Oh my goodness, talk about adorable. She was old enough to walk but not talk yet. She was the absolute cutest thing in her white dress. She actually went down the aisle all by herself but when she got to the front she went straight to her daddy who was one of the groomsmen in a kilt. The cuteness of those three was almost just too much.

I'm taking a vacation day tomorrow and it looks like we'll be going to Door County, WI. I can't wait!! First I have a doctor's appointment at 8:30. It's a follow up with my neurologist to go over my preventative. I'm telling him we need to change my medicine. I still get migraines way too often. In fact, it seems I get them more often than not. Most are just annoying as all hell. As in I can still function; lights, sounds, smells, etc. don't bother me, I just walk around with a pain in my head. But about once a month they're bad enough that I don't want to do anything for at least a day.

Also I noticed around the end of June or so that some foods taste different. And it's not good. It seems to do with salt. It's very hard to explain the taste because it's not similar to anything I've ever had, but it's kind of a bitter taste. It's mostly with food that has salt in it as an ingredient. Like table salt doesn't seem to have it, or at least it's very, very faint. But like all chips, no matter the type, has the same exact underlying taste. Fritos are the worst. And how bad is it that Fritos, Cheetos and Doritos all taste the same!?! All because of this weird flavor.

So, yeah, I want to change medicines. Hopefully something different will work better and not change the flavor of my food.

Anyway, after the dr's appointment we'll be dropping off my truck to see about the air conditioning. And hopefully not long after that we'll be hopping in his truck and heading north. By the way, he had his electrical system checked out on his truck and they didn't find anything at all wrong. So he took it to another place and had them install a new wiper motor and so far so good they work. YAY! But I digress.

I so need a vacation. I haven't gone anywhere in a couple years and I'm going through withdrawals! I think the last place I went for a weekend was to Ohio when we went to see New Orleans play Cleveland. So although we did go somewhere for a weekend it still was completely centered around football. This will have nothing to do with it and the vacation we're planning for the first week of October will having nothing to do with football either. I'm really very excited about it all.

Hopefully I'll have something interesting to write about after the weekend. We shall see.

In the Year of our Lord 1314, patriots of Scotland - starving and outnumbered - charged the fields of Bannockburn. They fought like warrior poets; they fought like Scotsmen, and won their freedom. - William Wallace - Braveheart

We had the most delightful girl at our table. Carrie, apparently her fiancé's terribly grand and owns half of Scotland. How about you? - Gareth - Four Weddings and a Funeral

I'll take it

You are most like Galadriel. There's just something about you that people like. A sort of aura. You're very kind to people, and you like to help others succeed. You're not as candid as most people would like. You don't have to share your deepest darkest secrets, but be more honest about things! You're more mature than most people your age, so don't worry!

I started this post awhile ago and never finished it. Figured I'd just go ahead and posit it as is with a media quote and call it a day.

Media quote of the day: In the place of a Dark Lord you would have a Queen! Not dark but beautiful and terrible as the Morn! Treacherous as the Seas! Stronger than the foundations of the Earth! All shall love me and despair! - Galadriel - Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Rings

When it rains it pours

So now my air conditioning doesn't work. How much does that suck?! About a week or so before my tire blew I had my AC on, using the vent actually since it wasn't quite bad enough to use the actual AC. Anyway, using the air at any rate. When I got home I turned it off but when I turned the knob it actually sort of caught a little bit before turning. I thought it weird but it did turn, and the air did turn off so after that thought nothing of it.

The day that HDiTty took the truck in to get the tires changed he went to turn it off and the knob had got stuck on number 3. It wouldn't turn off or go any higher and was stuck that way for several days. We'd try turning it every now and then but nothing would ever happen until last week on my way into work. I decided to try again to turn it off and it actually turned. So I put it in the off position but the air stayed on just as strong as if it was still in the #3 position, all the way to work.

When I left work that evening I turned on the truck and it came right on. I backed up, still on, put it in drive, still on. But after I went about 3 or so car lengths it went off and it's been off ever since. But I can turn the knob all I want. Heh. So yeah, no AC, sucks. But I bought the extended warranty that all the experts tell you never to do so I'm sure it'll be covered. It's just taking the time to get taken in.

But HD needs to take his truck in because his wipers are still on the fritz. I think I mentioned it before, but I'm not positive. They had gone out quite a while ago. They only seem to work part time. Luckily we live real close to his work so even on rainy days it's usually not a big deal but still, he needs to at least find out what it would cost to get them fixed. If it's doable they need to be fixed. If it'll be outrageous then maybe, just maybe, I can agree to him getting rid of the truck and getting a new one. Well, used one anyway, new to us of course. I was so happy that this was the last month for a payment on his truck and now it looks like more than likely we'll be going right back into another payment. I really hope those damn things are fixable. But they're not the only thing wrong. There's other miscellaneous things and they all seem electrical and that certainly doesn't sound cheap.

I swear, that cliche of "when it rains it pours" certainly is true. It's a good thing he worked a shitload of overtime that's for sure.

Finally, an update, can you believe it!?!

So it's basically been ages. How ya'll doing, good I hope. I've been busy as all hell at work. I used to be able to catch a break and go to a site or two every now and then here and there so I'd be able to keep up with a few of my most favorite sites but not for the last couple weeks now. And obviously not with my own site. By the time I get home I don't want to even think about getting on the computer to do anything so I don't. But I decided I better do so tonight. I've been feeling guilty.

So yeah, we've been needing a new roof now for over a year and we finally saved up enough to do it this spring. Got a few quotes and decided to go with the middle quote. Looks great. HD took several pictures of the old roof but I don't think he's taken any of the new one yet. As soon as he's done so I'll post 'em to show the difference. You know, for posterity's sake. I really like, it's a much lighter color than the one we had before, it goes much better with the frames around the window.

As also mentioned last post my tire blew on my way home from work a couple weeks ago. I had been battling a migraine again for a couple days and bosslady decided to send me home early since she was taking the next day off so I had to be there. She wanted me as rested as possible with the hopes of no pain. So I'm on my way home when my right front tire goes. I was able to turn into a parking lot of a landscape nursery. I tried calling HD to see if he'd be able to come out and help me but he wasn't answering the home phone nor his cell. But I didn't really expect him to as he'd been up the night before and most of the day already. So I ended up calling the number of the 24hr road side assistant sticker that's on my window. They were out there in less than a half hour.

The lady on the phone had asked if I had a good spare tire and I told her I had no idea, that my truck is going on 5 years old and I've never even looked at the thing. So she wants to know if I want a tow or change. I told her I didn't know which one I'd need as I didn't know if my tire would be any good and she says they can only do one or the other. I says to her, "You mean to say, you can only send one kind of truck out with one kind of guy out? He can either tow it with a tow truck or you'll send a completely different kind of guy with a completely different kind of truck that can only change it?" and she actually answered yes. Unreal. So I asked if a tow would be more expensive and she again answered yes so I said let's change it and we'll go from there. Luckily the spare was still good, at least for the most part. It was pretty damn flat itself but it had enough to get me up the street to the gas station so I could fill it up with gas. Since the guy that came out to change a FLAT TIRE didn't have a WORKING pump. He actually said that to me. "You'll have to make sure to go to the nearest gas station to fill it up since my tire pump isn't working right now." UGH!!

Anyway! So I had the doughnut going for a few days but on HD's day off I took his truck into work and he took my truck into Sam's club and got me a whole new set of tires. The good kind too. They repel the water as I'm driving along the road. We went for 100% better 80% less noise as opposed to 100%less noise and 80% better. Can always turn up the music.

And last but so not least. Work is really sucking it big time right now. We're busy but we're not if that makes any sense. As a refresher for some and for any newbies, I'm in the construction business, working for a commercial roofing contractor. My company is still playing catch up from the shitty winter and rainy spring we had so as far as the actual work is going we're just now getting into it. But because we 3 in the A/R department haven't had "much to do" upper management has decided we need to do certain things and they're basically riding our asses about it and it's driving we 3 up the fricken wall.

And then to top it off, the weekend before, bosslady was at Summerfest and slipped and fell and hurt her back. She ended up at home all last week with a metal brace wrapped around her midsection. She had to ice and heat it 3 times a day for an hour each time. So while she was away I had to do any of the things she would normally do (such as daily reports, etc) and both new girl and I had to cover any of her projects that had payments coming in. Plus of course do our work. I was there until at least 6:30 every night including Thursday just trying to keep up.

I am glad that bossman and also extreme bossman (one of the brothers - owners) thanked us and let us know that we did a good job. I didn't expect, never even crossed my mind, to get a thanks or anything of the sort from bosslady. But it of course would have been nice and very much appreciated. Instead, yesterday I get the following:

On Thursday morning an accountant from a general contractor calls up about one of bosslady's accounts saying they're going to have to cut her June billing. Two items will need to be cut down to zero percent and the other two items down from 100% to 80%. I completely forgot to let our project managers know and get their approval which means I didn't get the invoice revised and sent back to the GC. Yesterday morning bosslady is in a meeting with bossman, extreme bossman and a few other people and she calls up to my extension and asks if I had taken care of that invoice. I actually have to look it up in the computer because I can't remember if I did or didn't do it because of how crazy Thursday had gotten. Turns out I didn't do it and I tell her I'll take care of it right then and there. So she says to me, "You should have done that last Thursday, you really needed to talk to Cr*** and get it done then. Well, you'll just have to do it right now." So I said, "I will, as I just said, I'll do it right now. Is he sitting at his desk? If so I'll buzz him now." She was in a conference room right by his and the other PM's desks and could look right over to them. They were both at their desks and when I called them up I let them know I forgot to call them on Thursday to take care of it, let them know what was going on they agreed to the cuts and I redid the invoice.

So then, I print them out and I give them to her to sign since their her account and she says they're all wrong, it's close to 10 grand off. So I stood right next to her while she redid them on her computer. Turns out I did them correctly, I even corrected her as she did it (3 mistakes by the way) but she rounded up her numbers to where she came out a dollar different than me so she still printed out new ones. WHATEVER!!

And I really like her too. I consider her a friend but there's times like this that she can piss me off to no end. That she's just as ridiculous as our bosses sometimes. Which is why I really don't want to be working there anymore most days lately. But I have to which really sucks.

Ok, enough for now. It's going on 9:30 and I'm getting another headache from staring at all the white and reliving all the bullshit. Gonna go watch a little more tv and then head to bed. I'm hoping to play catch up on at least some of the site reading this weekend, but we shall see.

Media quote of the day:
As you know, the concept of the suction pump is centuries old. Really that's all this is except that instead of sucking water, I'm sucking life. I've just sucked one year of your life away. I might one day go as high as five, but I really don't know what that would do to you. So, let's just start with what we have. What did this do to you? Tell me. And remember, this is for posterity so be honest. How do you feel? - Count Rugen - The Princess Bride (this is how I was feeling last week - blech!)
