Yep, I'm talking about the trip again.

So I'm slowly moving forward in the twitter department. I haven't done one yet at all but I've chosen several people and companies to follow. I went ahead and put in the widget on the sidebar for whenever I actually do start to tweet.

I have a feeling I'll do some while on vaca. Speaking of which I need to go ask for some more time off....

So I was just given permission for the two extra days off, we're now heading down on the 7th and will be leaving to come back on the 11th. Scott (HDT's co-worker not my brother) wants to be back in time for the Bears game at noon on Sunday. So we'll be leaving Sat. afternoon some time.

We may be stopping on the way down in Taylorville, IL for some early cajun food. HDT and I met a guy last year on our way home from the Saints/Rams game. He owns a cajun restaurant in Taylorville and told us to stop in any time, call him ahead of time so he knows we're on our way, and he'll hook us up with some awesome food.

My mom and I had gone down there in December. I have an aunt and some cousins that live in Taylorville and we all went there for dinner. It was really very good and he did remember me. I felt bad that HDT wasn't with us but they all insisted on going once my mom talked it up. And it was good, I can't wait to go back.

This is the part I hate though, when all I can think about is the upcoming vacation. Time doesn't move fast enough for the most part and then when you want it to slow down (when packing, etc) it seems to speed up. But all I want to do is go online and go to all sorts of websites to see what deals I can get for us while we're down there.

I've already printed out some coupons from
neworleansonline.com that I know will get put to use. And I also looked up hotel rates and at least for one of the ones we're looking at it's cheaper to go through them than the other ways I've been researching.

Two weeks from today and we'll be on our way. Yep, can't wait!!

Weekend Update 8/20-21/10

So this weekend was pretty good. Two of my brothers came over Friday morning and cut down our magnolia tree. They took a bunch of pictures and then I took several more when I got home that evening. We still need to get them downloaded from the camera and then I'll post some on here. I loved that tree but HDT has been wanting to get rid of if for years as I believe I mentioned some number of posts ago.

When I went home at lunch they were more than half way done with it. I knew ants had taken up residence inside of the base but OMG the amount of tree they were actually living in is amazing! The base of the tree came up a couple feet then branched off into 3 different sections. One of the sections was just about completely eaten away by them. There were several branches that were hollowed out and others that looked like an ant farm from the side when you see them in a tank. I hope you get what I mean by that. You'll see once I get the pictures up.

The guys said when they were cutting that part of the branch that the ants started to swarm out where the cut was being done and also at the base. They said at the base is where all the ones with the wings came shooting out of. Tons of them they said. Didn't get a picture of that though. Kinda disappointed.

Then the next morning after it had thunder stormed we see all these white rocks sitting on the stump. We were quite confused as to where they had come from. As the day went on it actually seemed like more showed up. What we finally came to the conclusion of as to how they got there is that we figured between squirrels and kids that they had fallen into the tree through different holes. Including the one where the three sections came together; there was a little hole there. We figured they were hidden in the clumps of dirt that was on the base of the tree from the ants and the rain washed the dirt away from the rocks. As the day went on the dirt dried and fell off of more of the rocks which made it look like more were showing up. It's the only logical explanation of it all.

It was HDT's weekend to work so he was already there when I got up on Saturday. I decided to go ahead and take a bath right away so I'd make myself presentable so I'd be more inclined to do the shopping and errands that I've been needing to do. I went to the feed store to get the cats and dog their food, then to the grocery store to get the pop that we're low on, then to the car supply store to get blinker bulbs for the back left blinker that's been out for more than a week now, then to the oil change place to get the oil changed that's been needing changing for too long. I went back home after that and chilled out watching a movie and during that HDT called to say he needed me to go pick up the plumbers tape that didn't come with the new shower head and the ant killing food to help get rid of the remaining ants. He had sprayed all around the stump and the wood sections that are up against the side of the garage and all around the house with ant killer spray. Which did seem to do a really good job but to be on the safe side we wanted the food that the remaining ones would take back to the home and kill all the rest including the queen.

So after my movie I did that then came back and chilled out some more watching another movie until he came home. I made dinner and we chilled out until bedtime.

Sunday he was back at work again when I got up around 8:30. I grabbed Breaking Dawn (4th book in the Twilight series), a diet mountain dew and went out to the living room to commence reading for several hours until I finished it. I liked the ending, thought it was fitting. I finished around 1:20 or so and decided to go mow the lawn and pull some weeds. I was done with that by 2:30 and then rinsed off before soaking in a nice warm bath for awhile.

I think I ended up watching another movie, oh no, I cleared out some of the shows I watch but he doesn't such as Ghost Hunters International. The started watching Hoarders, that show scares the bejeesus outta me. We'll let too many magazines pile up and not always put our clothes away and just use the whites out of the basket, etc. So there's times that I think - this is how it starts, you get complacent with it and slowly it just starts to accumulate and next thing you know you're walking through a minefield of STUFF. Yep, scary, can't let that happen.

We watched some Grey's while eating dinner and after. Then I had to go to bed for the night. He came to bed around midnight to take a nap before heading back to work at 2:30am to work until 6:00am. His overtime is done now for awhile. Well, as long as someone doesn't call in sick or anything. He also only works a few more days on his regular schedule then he's off for a full two weeks on vacation.

This is technically from the original Ghost Hunters and not the international and also from several years ago but the premise of this is just so damn funny I had to use it.

New Orleans Bound

So, he looked over my breakdown and saw that we'd be able to make the trip just fine and with all his overtime he's doing will just make it that much easier. So the trip is back on. I'm so happy and excited.

Oh to be back in the land of awesome food and warm hospitality and great music. I can't wait to get some mouth watering crawfish etoufee and even more mouth watering beignets. Mmmmmm.

He's so damn wishy washy

So HDT is king of making me crazy! He's so damn fickle it's unreal. Last night he comes crawling into bed saying how he doesn't think we should go to New Orleans anymore. He started thinking of all the money for the tickets, plane, hotel, etc. and what else we need here at home and decided it's just too much money. The only thing we really need here at home is a new tv. He mentioned the soft top he wants for his jeep and I told him that with winter coming he doesn't really want a soft top or need one and by the time spring comes around we'll have our tax refund. It won't be as big as usual because of me not working for 4 1/2 months of the year but it'll still be big enough. So the only thing that we really need to spend money on is the tv and we'll be able to get one of those for under a thousand bucks.

I did up a breakdown to show that with the paychecks we'll be getting over the next several weeks and what bills need to be paid along with a few incidentals we'll have enough. We of course will have to be conservative on the spending while we're down there and also any spending we'd be doing here before we leave. But yes, we'd be able to do it. Especially if he cashes another comp time check which he should be able to do with all the overtime he's done already plus the time he'll be doing over the next several days; 16 hours just today.

So I'm going to fight him tooth and nail to be able to go.

Superdome or bust

Woot! Woot! We are going to the opening game!!!!

I got my two days off approved and we have been talking to a few people about going along. Although they probably won't be going to the game, the cheapest tickets we found were over $200.00 each. So yeah, not cheap but HDT and I are biting the bullet and buying those suckers. I did the research for the plane and hotel and those are actually pretty good prices, especially for a Holiday Inn right downtown by the Quarter.

We're just waiting to hear back from his mom to see if she'll be able to give us the $500.00 she owes us for the Tahoe which we then would turn around and help fund his sister's trip. If she can't do that then we're not sure about Jess going. Plus he's still waiting to hear back from her anyway to make sure she'd even be able to get the time off or have someone be able to watch her daughter.

But two of his coworkers will definitely be going, well as long as their time off is approved which they should hear about today. But neither of them are worried about that not happening.

So yeah, it's gonna be a real good time. We'll be flying down Wed. night and coming home on Sunday.

And no I'm not worried about saying all this on here for several different reasons. There will be extra cop drive by's to check things out. We'll be having my mother and his step mom (more than likely anyway) taking care of the cats as they usually do. Which means there won't be any set time of them just showing up at the house. Plus we'll be letting our neighbors know so they'll be a good look out as well. And besides all that, I only a have a few steady readers and all but one are in other states. And I've never given what town we live in away or any other marker for where we live so nope not worried at all.

Hopefully we'll have heard from everyone by tonight so we can get everything reserved and purchased before prices go up again. I. CAN. NOT. WAIT. I haven't been there since before I blew into town back in 2005. HDT has only been back once and that was just for two days for the opening game last year. So it's going to be nice to have a few days to tool around town again. One of the people going with us, Scott, went down in '05 to help do some cleaning up but he hasn't back since then either. I don't think Dana has ever been there and Jess never has, so as long as both go it'll be fun to be able to show them around.

Weekend Update 8/13-15/10

So, this was a mix of out and about and stay at home and do nothing weekend. Friday night despite a couple movies opening up that we want to see we opted to stay home. He played WOW while I mowed the lawn. Then, while he continued to play WOW I watched the extras on Grey's Anatomy Season 4 and then Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I haven't seen that movie for ages, such a good one.

Saturday we both got up a little before 9:00. He had to work some overtime 10:00 - 2:00 and I had some shopping that needed doing. Our electric toothbrush had died several months ago when I was still out of work so I just bought some cheep brushes. But since it's time to replace them now and I'm working I decided to go ahead and get us some electric ones again. Looking at the prices of them are daunting but they're really good for you so I decided to get the kind we had before. I could've sworn the price tag said $89.00. It wasn't till I'm on my way home that it dawned on me how much my total was and I thought that there's no way it should've been that high. Yeah, turns out the brush is actually $189.00. Yeah, that sucker is going back, especially since I paid with the debit card, I may be working but we still don't need to spend that kind of money on an electric toothbrush.

HDT ended up getting out a half hour early and we and a few of his coworkers were to go out to lunch afterward but all but one of them ended up bailing on us. But that was ok, we three went to BWW and had a good lunch. Afterward she went home and HDT and I started in on Grey's Anatomy Season 5. After a few of those it was time to leave to go to our Village's annual celebration. There was an 80's cover band playing two sets with the fireworks in between. We met up with a few my brothers to watch. For the first several songs everyone was just sitting around watching except for a lady and her 2 yo. But after awhile a few chicks started dancing here and there.

After the fireworks, which were pretty damn awesome, on our way back to our seats at the bandstand we ran into a few old friends and then some of HDT's coworkers so we stopped and chatted with them. It was probably a good 1/2 hour before we finally made it back to our seats and by that time enough people had had enough to drink that there were plenty of people dancing. One older guy kept getting up on stage to dance. At one point it even looked like his zipper was going down, there was white where there shouldn't have been. That was amusing but he was annoying. They finally kicked him off and then he proceeds to get back up there the very next song and again they have to kick him off. Then during their encore song he does it again but they shooed him off right away.

Sunday he went to his friend's house to hang out for the day and I finished Eclipse and started in on Breaking Dawn. I had read the first three books of the series before but never did get to the fourth. One of HDT's coworkers had loaned me the first three but since the fourth was her sister's she didn't feel comfortable loaning that one to me. Which I find amusing considering I've met her sister/gone to the movies with her (in a group setting) several times. But whatever. So it's been over a year since I've read them and while looking through the books of the book club I'm part of I see all four for just under $40.00. That's a pretty darn good deal for hardcover, so I decided to go ahead and purchase and then with a my discount for previous purchases I ended up getting them all for $8.43 and no shipping or handling because it was during a promotion. Can't beat that.

Where was I, oh yeah, so after only a few chapters in I started to get sleepy so I took an hour nap, or at least tried. I did doze, just never completely fell asleep. Still felt good though. I texted HDT just before 6:00 since he should've been home already to let him know I was hungry and too see when he'd be home. He figured at least another hour so I made myself some soup and had it and some crackers and decided to watch Practical Magic. Haven't seen that one in ages either. He came near the end of it and of course went straight to the computer to play WOW but did ask if we'd be watching more Grey's and I let him know we would as soon as the movie was over which is what we did.

Childless and still happy for it

Yeah, as much as I love children I'm still so happy I chose never to be a parent.

HDT watched his 3 yo niece all day yesterday. It went really well, he said they watched movies while playing all morning. Then his friend Jim came over with his two daughters who are 12 and 6 and they watched movies and played for the rest of the afternoon while he and Jim played on their game on the computer.

When I got home from work they were all there along with his sister. When I was upstairs changing I all of a sudden heard his niece screaming bloody murder and crying like I've never heard her cry before. When I got downstairs she was in the bathroom screaming and crying and her mom was sitting in a chair shaking her head and sorta smiling. I asked what was wrong and she said that she's just throwing a fit. Jess (SIL) was trying to calm her down telling her that if she didn't stop being silly she'd get a time out and that just made her scream and cry even more.

So she packed her up and took her outside to take her home. HDT went with them outside to help her if need be. While they were out I asked Jim what had happened. Renee needed to go to the bathroom and she wanted to do it by herself but Jess was going to be there to help if needed and turned out she did but when she started to help Renee got upset with her and that started it and it escalated from there. But Renee hadn't had a nap all day and with an audience there and of course the whole pushing the parent boundaries thing it was just all a big mess.

After they left the rest of us got dinner and settled down to watch Tron in anticipation of the new movie coming out soon. But the girls of course had to go back and forth with trying to get Poydras to come to each of them and the little one kept getting upset with her big sister because Poydras would go to her more often. And whenever the little one would go near him when he was with me or even just by himself, he'd start to grumble/growl and it scared her. When I got him to sit in my lap I could tell that he was really tired too and needed a nap. When people are over he doesn't usually sleep so he gets grumpy too just like a little kid. And with Renee screaming like she was it got him all hyped up and with the little one having a high pitched voice like Renee whenever she'd come near him and say something is when he'd grumble/growl.

And with dinner the oldest one wanted chicken while the rest of us got pizza. When Jim was putting their food on their plates he gave the little one a few tiny pieces of the other's chicken and she started to pout that he was giving away her food. So she got a stern talking to by him about not be able to give up two very tiny pieces of chicken when she got everything else she wanted for dinner.

Yep, love 'em completely but still don't want any.

Weekend Update 8/7-8/10

So this weekend was a really relaxing one compared to most. Other than doing some cleaning and laundry I did a marathon of Grey's Anatomy again. Except for Saturday evening. The brothers and niece and nephew came over to watch the UFC fights and around 11:15 or so HDT's littlest sister came over as well.

Wayne and Roy looked over the Magnolia tree to strategize on cutting it down. They plan on doing it on the 20th. Wayne says, it'll be there when we leave for work and be gone when we get home. Depending on when they come over I may be seeing 'em working on it when I go home for lunch. I won't mind getting rid of all the bugs but I'll certainly miss the tree.

HDT got Scott Jr. into WOW. That's what they did for the whole time while the fights were going on. And my SIL plays as well so when she came over she helped him out as well too.

So that was my very relaxing, do a bunch of nothing, weekend.

Tweet Tweet

So I opened a twitter account and chose to follow several people/companies. But I haven't written anything myself as of yet. Who knows, I might not ever. But I'll look into it a bit more over the weekend. I haven't been back to check on any of the ones I'm following either. I don't even know what possessed me to do it in the first place. Oh well, we shall see.

What I find amusing is that a company that I didn't check to follow was the first to follow me. It took me a moment to figure out who they are and how they'd even gotten my info. One of the people I'm following is the awesome Drew Brees from the one and only New Orleans Saints. So this company deals with NFL stats and fantasy football, etc. so I guess they must monitor all the players and teams, etc.

Then the second company is Thinkgeek.com. I love their stuff, HDT and I have bought several things from them. I find it amusing that they follow the people who follow them. But then again, it is kind of a geek thing to do.

Oh how he LOVES to carry things around in his mouth

So Pretty Boy almost every night and sometimes even during the day has taken to carrying objects in his mouth and meowing. I believe he's doing it because he wants food, it always seems to be around feeding time. But here's the thing. He also does it within an hour of being fed a lot of the times. So I just don't know.

But this morning around 4:00 he wakes me and Poydras up and usually when that happens Poydras needs to go to the bathroom. So I get up to take him and as I'm taking down the gate I look out in the hall and sure enough just a few feet away on the floor is an unopened barbecue sauce packet from McDonald's sitting there. I pick it up and put it on the kitchen counter and while doing that I see a pen sitting on the rug in front of the oven. I pick it up and put it on the counter. Then I take the step down from the kitchen to the top of the landing of the stairs to the basement which is just inside the backdoor. Poydras comes and stands on the kitchen floor in the doorway as is our ritual for me to put on his color. As I step down I can sort of see a white thing sitting on the landing floor. I hadn't turned the light on so the only light was coming from the one above the sink and I didn't have my contacts in so I really couldn't tell what it was. I reach down and it's the white plastic cap to some battery thing of HDT's. So I pick it up and put it on the counter.

Then we all go back to bed. When I got up later to get ready for work as I'm heading to the basement to grab my clothes out of the laundry room I see on the rug in front of the oven 3 red plastic cups still in a stack. When I get downstairs there's one lonely red plastic cup sitting in the middle of the floor.

It's usually a pen or pencil but if he can't find one of those he'll use anything as you can see. He's grabbed a cord that was wrapped up in a baggy and brought it up from the basement. He's grabbed plastic forks/spoons/knives. Some of those he's actually had to take out of the container that was holding them on the table in the basement. He's grabbed the toothbrush part of the electric toothbrush (it was an old head that we were using for cleaning little items). He's even done it with my knee highs. And so many other items I can't even think of right now.

The cat cracks me up. I'm seriously thinking of taking pictures of these items where they lie? lay? whatever to start documenting them.

When he does it when we're awake and downstairs he'll grab something from upstairs and bring it to the top of the stairs or to the oven and drop the item there. He never, or I guess I should say hardly ever, brings the item all the way downstairs to us. But as he's doing his crying/meowing I'll call out to him and ask, "What'chu got Pretty Boy?" or sometimes just "What?" and he'll answer right back. We've done that for a full minute before, it's quite amusing, but he still won't bring the item downstairs.

Weekend/Reunion Update 7/29 - 8/1

So the family reunion was a lot of fun, exhausting, but fun.

Friday when I got home from work HDiTty was still packing up his stuff for Sat. but he was physically ready to go which I was happy to see. After helping him pretty much finish packing we set off for the bowling alley. There were already several people there, the room we had reserved was already packed to the gills. We collected our refund of $5.00 each and while I had him write out our name tags I headed to the fruit table to deposit the honey dew I had cut up the night before.

I was worried that there wouldn't be any food I'd want to eat except for the fruit and veggies since we were having a taco bar (not big on the Mexican food). But there was some shredded chicken that looked really good so I put some in a tortilla shell and had a meat only taco along with the fruits and veggies. Then I went back and got a few chips to munch on as well.

Once my family was done eating we got 3 lanes and put the younger kids on one lane and the rest of us took the other two. HDT did awesome in his first game, something like a 201 I think it was. He had 6 strikes in a row and then in the 10th frame for his first ball he got 7 then spared it and then another strike. It was a lot of fun to watch my family react to how well he was doing, I was very proud of him. I started out horribly but ended up doing pretty good, ended just over my average. The second game I did under my average by 10 pins. HDT did real well again, I think he got something like a 170.

We had booked the room until 11:00 which was what time the whole place closed but we ended up getting out of there just after 10:00. Everyone had a great time and only a few people stuck around at the bar until closing.

Saturday ended up being a great weather day. It started kinda rainy but that cleared out by 9:30/10:00 and stayed cloudy most of the day. It was a little humid but not uncomfortably so, a breeze would've made it better but it still was good. You didn't break a sweat just sitting there like you do on some days. Each of the families had their own color t-shirt so we could tell who belonged to who and it was quite amusing to me to see each of us in our own little areas. There was only a little mixing going on. I forgot the camera at home and was really disappointed because I wanted to take pictures of how segregated we all were from each other. Here we the committee spend almost 2 years planning this and then we all just stay with our own families for the most part. It was quite amusing to see.

The pig roast was a big hit, everyone who had it really liked it. The chicken apparently was kinda dry, at least the breast meat, but they said it was still good. One of the committee members suggested ice cream and we weren't sure about it at first. But she said it was done at a company picnic she went to years ago and it went over well. She said they buy the dilly bars (or whatever) for a dollar each and then they're held in a freezer and you just put a sign on saying one for each person. Since we had extra money we decided to go for it and sure enough it was another big hit.

My nieces kept trying to get me to play volleyball but one of the other families were playing and I just didn't feel like to do it. I told them I'd play kickball and they jumped at that so we grabbed my nephews and brothers as well and headed out to the field. I told the kids to try to recruit others to play and of course they didn't but while I was putting out the bases a few other kids from other families started to wander out to play. We ended up with about 7 others besides my family. Two of my brothers were the designated pitcher and catcher. And of course while we were out in the middle of the field the sun decided to start peaking through the clouds. My team lost but only by 5 runs - we played to 21.

After that I had to rest, my feet were killing me, well mostly my big toe on my right foot. Our large family is prone to bunions and my right foot is getting one. The bone hurts every now and then and especially when exerted.

After awhile Wayne got a few little kids and his two teenagers together to have a water balloon toss game. Once I saw that I was all over it. Since his two kids and I were the only older ones and the little ones kept dropping, so therefore busting, their balloons right away we'd switch partners to give each of them a chance to last longer than just the first round. But slowly we kept getting more and more people of all ages so the rotating stopped. His daughter and I were partners at that time and ended up doing really well so we remained partners. And I gotta say, out of something like 10-15 games we won almost all of them or at the very least came in 2nd. We decided that we'll remain partners for any future games. The little ones were having a blast busting the water all over themselves more than the tossing since by then the sun stayed out permanently. After the last game Wayne says there was just enough to have a fight and the little ones were all over it and started throwing 'em big time at each other. His two kids then picked up the bucket which had water in it to keep the balloons from breaking and started fighting over it trying to dump it on each other. His son ended up with it in his hands and dumped it over his sister spectacularly. Luckily she had a tank top under her t-shirt so she took it off to dry in the sun.

After that I decided it was time to actually mingle with the cousins. Did that until it was time to go. I got lucky, I was in such a good conversation with a couple of them that we got out of packing the place up. I only had to follow my family back to mom's house to help unload the trucks.

I got some dinner on the way home and after letting Poydras out sat on the couch exhausted. I finally made myself get up to drag my tired ass body to bed by 11:00. I woke up sore as can be. My thighs and hamstrings were so damn sore and stiff it was unreal. My lower back hurt just a little but I think that was more from the way I had slept than anything because it was fine after being up for about an hour. I took a long hot bath to help with it all and it did seem to help.

And other than running to the store to grab a little bit of food for the day I vegged on the couch watching Grey's Anatomy all day long. It was a nice relaxing day.

Reunion of 2010

So our family reunion starts tonight. It's a mixer at a bowling alley. I'm really really tired and I'm only half looking forward to going. A huge part of me would like to just stay at home and veg on the couch and go to bed early. Especially since I'll have to get up early to take HDT to the airport. But I know once I get there I'll have a good time. So off to the reunion I go.

Weekend Update 7/23-25/10

So the weekend went really well. Friday night we stayed home and just watched some tv since it was his weekend to work.

Saturday he went to work all day. I picked up LeRoy and we went to Wayne's house for his son's 14th birthday party. Normally the kids' parties are separated into a family party on one day and their friend's party on another. But they decided to combine them this time. He had about 6 friends over. They played volleyball and tag while we adults hung out on the patio watching 'em. They were very entertaining. It rained on us a few times but not hard and only for a few minutes each time. So we just pulled our chairs in under the table umbrella and waited it out each time.

LeRoy and I left a little after 8:00 to go help mom load up Les to take back to the rehab facility for the night. After they got him in the truck she asked if we'd go with her to take him back since she didn't know what staff would be there to help get him out and into his room so we went of course. Good thing since there wasn't anyone around to help out. As hard as it is to think it I believe it's just a matter of time now. He seems to have a more negative attitude than positive. Mom keeps trying to keep him upbeat and she's staying positive for the most part but I know it's taking a toll on her. And then last week she got the news that insurance isn't going to pay for the facility past Thursday the 29th. They decided, without sending anyone down to see him or talk to any of his doctor, that he's just fine to be able to go home. Although he can't walk on his own or go up and down stairs on his own and they don't have a ramp to get in & out of the house. The house is an open floor plan except for the bedrooms and the doors to those & the bathrooms are wide enough for a wheelchair so at least they've got that.

After saying goodbye we went back to Wayne's to hang out by the fire. His daughter was home from work so it was nice to see her as well. We finally left around 12:30ish. By the time I got home HDiTty was getting up to get ready to go in at 2:00 for a 16 hour day. I stayed up to help him get ready and then crashed right after he left.

I got up around 10:00ish, made myself some breakfast and then went to mow the lawn. But my Ipod mini was dead so I plugged it in to recharge and watched some more tv while waiting. Once it was done I headed out and mowed and weeded then went in and took a nice long hot bath to soak the muscles in hopes of not feeling too sore later on. Then for the rest of the day I watched more of season 2 of Grey's Anatomy and did load after load of laundry. HDT got home around 6:30 and I made burgers for us for dinner and continued to do laundry and watch Grey's while he played on the computer.

He had to get back up at 1:00am to go back in at 2:00 for 4 hours. I drank too much mountain dew throughout the day apparently because I couldn't fall asleep. I was still awake when he had to get up. I think I finally fell asleep close to 2:00. I woke up tired and sore but not too sore. My hamstrings are a little tight but my lower back hurts more. I think it's a cross between the bending over for the weeding and the twisting and turning while trying to sleep.

33 out of 50 ain't bad

So, I was going through yahoo's shine and came across this intriguing article: The Sexual Bucket List - 50 Things To Do Sexually Before You Die and couldn't help but read through 'em and see how many I've done.

I've done 33 out of the 50. Apparently I'm a lot more adventurous then I ever thought. Well, sort of anyway. There's still a few on there that I haven't done but would like to such as #14 (drive-in sex) and #15 (Mile-high club). You know, stuff that's really not all that "scary." But there's a few others that would be deemed "scary" that I've fantasized/thought about but don't know if I actually want to do them. And no, I'm not gonna list even one of those. Family and friends may not know about this site right now but who knows if they'll ever find it. And if they do, they certainly don't ever need to know that information.

Weekend update

So Friday night HDT's youngest sister and their mom came over and we went out to dinner and a movie. We went to see Inception which I really liked but I don't think the other girls liked it much and HDT didn't like as much as me, although he did enjoy it.

It was late by the time we got out of there so they went to his sister's house for the night, I went to bed and HDT stayed up to play Call of Duty, of course. He finally came to bed around 5:30ish and at 9:30ish there was a loud knocking on our back door. They were there to bring us up to date on the saga of sis and her asshole exboyfriend. He just broke up with her a little earlier in the week and Friday night he texts her asking why she took his Swiffer. She calls him to say she didn't take it, she borrowed it several months earlier and they just never took it back to his place. So the next morning she takes it back to his place, of which she has a key. So she lets herself in and proceeds to find him in bed with another girl already.

So she of course is devastated. But HDT and I were trying to tell her it's what a lot of guys do, for many different reasons. And one of the best is as HDT told her, a guy doesn't need emotions to go to bed with a girl all he needs is a libido. And as I told her, they get over one relationship easier with a distraction and what's a better distraction than another girl in his bed.

So yeah, they hung out all day discussing it all over and over. Finally around 4:30 they decided to head back to her place and she was gonna take a nap and then get ready to go to a party with HDT and I for one of his coworkers.

We picked her up at 9:20 and made it out there by 10:00. Which normally wouldn't be late for a Saturday party but it started at 3:30. But that's ok, there were people that showed up even after us. Everyone kept asking her were the boyfriend was and so she had to keep telling everyone that they broke up. He's also a coworker of HDT and the host and so many other party goers. So I kept giving her shots and taking them along with her.

Around 1:00 we finally left along with one of the coworkers and went to an all night restaurant to get some breakfast. We dropped her off afterward and once we got home I went straight to bed and HDT played Call of Duty. Anyone notice a pattern? Yep, that's the usual in our household. But this time he didn't stay up all night.

Sunday he got up about 9:30 to go to a friends house to hang out and I stayed in bed. I had to get up at 7:20 to let the dog go to the bathroom and feed everyone. Then he decided he had to go to the bathroom again at 8:30. Then HDT's alarm started to go off at 8:50. So yeah, after he got up and I had piece again I was able to finally fall back asleep. Next thing I know I'm waking up at 12:20. But I felt well rested.

I was lazy and did some reading and then started in on season 2 of Grey's Anatomy until he came home. We watched some of the recorded shows until his sister came over to cut his hair. After that I went back to Grey's and they went online to do some things.

So it was an eventful weekend but relaxing just the same.

The one where Katrina ALMOST starts a fire

So, yeah, I almost started a fire yesterday.....

Last Christmas all us kids received wooden pan holders from mom and Les which Les made himself in his wood shop. They're really cool and we've had ours on our stove ever since bringing them home. You know what I'm talking about? Those things you put on your table to put a really hot pot/pan on so your table or table cloth doesn't get all burnt and shit? Yeah, those things, he made em out of wood and they're really cool looking.

Well last week after I made pasta alla vodka I put both of them in the oven (which was still warm from the garlic bread) and then put the paper plates on top of them to keep the food warm while I packaged up the rest into containers for the fridge. I then took the plates out and we went and ate. I had put them in so I wouldn't be putting paper plates directly on 300 degree wire racks. But then I forgot to take the holders out. Yep, smart me.

So then last night we decide we're gonna have some chicken and tots. So I turn on the oven to heat it up. After a couple minutes I started smelling something but just figured it was cheese or something like that on the bottom of the oven burning off. It was a little stronger smelling a few minutes later and I figured it was time to go put the food in anyway so I head up the stairs. As I look up I see smoke and just then the smoke alarm starts to beep. Freaked the cats and dog out let me to you.

HDiTty also was like, what the fuck is going on. I'm at the top of the stairs now and turn to go into the kitchen and it's full of smoke. I open the oven and smoking away are the holders. The kitchen, living room and now our bedroom is full of smoke. Luckily they weren't on fire, just smoking really badly. I took them out and put them in the sink and started to open windows right away. HDT took them outside since they continued to smoke. I turned the floor fan on in the bedroom to face it out into the hallway while he turned the alarm off. But then he put the fan in the bedroom window facing out so it'd suck the smoke out of the house.

After a little while it all cleared out but the smell stuck around for a little while. They're pretty black but still usable. I don't want to get rid of them if I can help it since Les made them and who knows how things will continue to go with him and being sick and all right now. Even if he finally gets better there's no telling if he'll be strong enough to ever get back out to his wood shop again or not.

HDT is high maintenance but I love him anyway

So HDT will be going to a seminar type thingy the first week of August for his APCO stuff. The day he's supposed to leave is the 2nd day of the reunion. I've told him he'll have to leave either late that evening or Sunday. When he was checking flights/hotels last night it looks like leaving on Sunday is actually 100 bucks more. And although we didn't think it was worth it last night after realizing that he'd have to leave during the reunion I think it might be after all. Unless we can get him a flight late enough in the evening that we won't have to miss anything.

I have to transfer a butt load of money to his credit card as well so he'll have enough of a cushion to be able to pay for everything himself using that. UGH! My man is expensive.

He's also wanting a soft top for his jeep and the 1/2 steel doors. He keeps saying we need to sell a bunch of our shit that could bring in decent dollars but he hasn't taken any of the pictures needed to get them on Craig's List or Ebay yet. There's no way we'd get the same kind of money at a garage sale.

Although he mentioned having one of those as well. At first I thought no way, we don't have enough big ticket items to sell and that's really what brings in the people and the cash. But we could put the headboard and dresser in it and that stupid huge and heavy desk in the spare bedroom. And who knows what else. Hmm, I'll have to look around. I told him if we did one that the best days are Fri/Sat/Sun and he'd have to do Fri by himself. Unless one of his sister's decided to hang out with. He said he understood and was ok with it. Works for me.

Date Night

So I got home yesterday and HDT was in the shower and asks me what I want to do for the evening. I said I didn't know and asked him what he wanted to do. He asked if I'd like to go out to dinner and a movie. He said a sit down dinner even. I got all giddy, he hardly ever wants to go to a sit down restaurant. He let me pick and since I had a hankerin for a steak I decided on Lone Star. We haven't been there in forever. He asked if I wanted to invite anyone along, not for dinner but for the movie. And I said nope, we haven't had an actual date night for I don't know how long where we go to dinner and a movie, I wanted to keep it for ourselves.

He got a Texas Tea and I got a, hmm, now I can't remember the name of it. But basically it was a lemonade mixed drink. It was nice and sweet. Normally I'd get a tea as well but I felt more like something sweet instead of tart. He got a sirloin with broccoli and au gratin potatoes. I got garlic medallions on a bed of rice with broccoli and steak fries. I hate au gratin potatoes but he pushed me to try a bite so I did. It was so damn disgusting I couldn't help but make a face, which promptly cracked him up. I was finally able to swallow them but had to take a quick swallow of my drink right after to get that nasty ass taste out of my mouth.

We both agreed that what we got was pretty damn good and we'll be getting it again the next time we go.

After we went to Best Buy so he could get a charger for his phone and of course got a few new cd's. That place is almost like Sam's Club, can't go in and just get what you went for, almost always walk out with something else.

Then we went to see Despicable Me. He actually seemed to like it more than me which is unusual. Not that I didn't like it, it's just that it wasn't as funny as I expected it to be. Things that were obviously supposed to be funny just weren't. But the kids were pretty damn cute and those little yellow pill like things were also cute and funny.

So over all it was a really good date night. He even drove, which I really really liked. But of course he did, he has a new Jeep that he has to drive around.

Weekend update

So of course he bought a Jeep this weekend. He found one online on Friday and called his BIL who works at the place and we went by Saturday night after HDT got off of work. Didn't get out of there until almost 10.

And then he does his usual indecisiveness thing and starts second guessing himself. I usually like when he does it because that means whatever it is he wants to buy doesn't get bought for awhile. So money doesn't get spent for awhile. But this time he buys and then waffles. But it's fine, it's more amusing than anything else.

Sunday I went to mom's house to visit with her and Les. She brought him home for a few hours to get him out of the nursing facility for some much needed morale boosting. Don't know how well it worked but it was good to see him. I took Poydras along since I know Les likes to see him. He sat up on the couch with him a few times for a little while. He was a good puppy as usual.

I got home basically at the same time as HDT and proceeded to make us dinner. I made the pasta ala vodka again. This time I left out the bacon. It wasn't as good as the last time I made it but it was still good. I also doubled everything and HDT was thinking it might have needed to simmer a little longer to allow the sauce to thicken more. So if I do it like that again I'll give that a try along with turning up the heat a bit more. Doing the bacon made the cook time almost double but it might be worth it to do again anyway.

Stream of random thought writing

So, I was thinking that I should really update the site if I'm gonna be posting again. There's several links over there that are no longer valid or need a password to get to and I don't even have it, so yeah, they need to come off. I also need to get back to statcounter and renew my account.

It seems like the people that quit writing did so right around the same time as I did give or take a month or two. Kinda weird. But I'm amazed at how many of them are still around and update regularly.

I have to go grocery shopping after work. I really don't wanna do it but this constantly buying food for lunch is absolutely ridiculous! Being a temp still my pay is squat and even though we said we weren't going to go back to spending willy nilly once I got a job we have. Well, not willy nilly but still not as responsible as we should be. Like all this eating out for lunch and still several times for dinner. A lot of the dinner has to do with it being hot as hell out there and not wanting to turn the oven on or standing over a hot stove top. And a basic laziness too, I won't lie.

And I'm all about the skillet meals that are out there now. Especially the Stouffer's ones. They're extremely cheap and enough food, as long as we add some garlic bread, for just us two. And calorie wise they're damn good as well. Less than 400 for each of us. Of course you throw in the bread and it goes back up to around a 500 calorie meal, but still, that's better than so many of our other meals.

So we're hoping to be able to go to the opening game in September. It's a Thursday night game so I'd have to take off Thursday and Friday. With probably no pay too. But I went to Orbitz and Expedia to see what the going rate for a flight & hotel would be and it's pretty damn cheep! One of the hotels we've stayed at before that's really nice and right by the quarter is extremely cheep. I checked for a 4 night stay. With round trip & the hotel for 4 nights it's approximately $350.00 a person. WOW!! Considering the flight is usally that alone it's great. And then the last time I checked that hotel the going rate for one night was over $200.00 a night. The time we stayed there they had just opened the place, their restaurant wasn't even finished being renovated and the price of the room was $75.00 a night. When I was looking at the form that they had on the door reading the rules & regulations I got to the part where it said the room couldn't be rented for less than $350.00 a night and was totally shocked. Obviously that's changed considering I saw it for the $200.00 approx. rate since then, but still, when I saw that I was shocked.

So yeah, I told HDT about it and he's all "book it." But until I'm able to talk to my boss I can't. Although at that time I'll be hired and a full fledged employee and I won't be eligible for time off yet. At least I don't think I will, haven't talked to anyone about benefits round these parts. I'm so willing to take the days off without pay if they'll let me that's for sure. Bosslady will be back next week so I'll have to work up the nerve to talk to her at some point. Not that she's scary, because she's so not, just asking for time off before you're even officially hired is kinda ballsy.

But pretty much the only reason I'm not hired yet, at least the impression I get anyway, is that they have a contract with the temp agency that the person stays a temp for 3 months. Several people have already hinted that I'm a definite hire, including the president himself, so...

I also need to ask her about Friday the 30th. If I can get the whole day off that would be great, I'd be able to help out with the preparations for the reunion then. If I can only get a half day then that's good too. If I can't then oh well, HDT and I will just get there when we can. But I don't think I'll have an issue there at all anyway.
__________________________
Next day.

So I did my grocery shopping last night and of course rather than make anything out of what I bought we went and got chinese. Heh But then, we've been trying to get it for the last several days but our place was closed for vacation and the only other place we go to is 45 minutes away in my former working town. So yeah, we were very happy when they were open yesterday and couldn't resist getting it. But at least I'll have food when I go home for lunch and won't have to do fast food.

I am so happy it's Friday. I really like where I work but I can't help but still not be a fan of actually working. If only I played and won the lottery like that chick in Texas that's won four times now. And each time in the millions. As HDT pointed out though, how much does it suck to have won four times and still only amount to $20 million. But still, that's plenty enough for me.

July 4th, just another day amongst the rest this week

So our 4th of July/long weekend went ok, didn't do much really. Saturday HDT sold his truck and of course immediately had to go looking at/driving Jeep Wranglers. He's pretty particular on what he's wanting and we've pretty much decided that this time he's not going to compromise. Maybe that way he'll be happy enough to keep it and not want to get rid of it within a couple of years which is how he is with just about every vehicle he's ever gotten.

The salesman that we dealt with kept going back and doing new searches but couldn't find anything out there that HDT wants. During one of the searches that was taking forever we had to get up and leave since people were coming over for the UFC fights. But we knew we weren't buying then anyway.

My brothers and Jim, came over to watch the fights. They were pretty good. One of the best ones was the first fight of the prelims but Wayne and I were the only ones that really saw it. Scott was busy trying to fix our bathroom door/frame since the door wouldn't always close. And Jim and HDT were busy looking up Jeeps. Scott finished just as the prelims were ending but HDT and Jim would go back and forth between searching and watching the fights. Jason and Roy showed up just as the first fight was starting of the main event. We had a good time as always.

Sunday we lazed around until he had to go to work for over time 8-12 but next thing I know he's walking in the door just after 10. Apparently it was pretty dead but that was good since he had to go back in for his normal shift on Monday. Our town decided not to do fireworks this year but before that decision was made he had signed up for the extra coverage. Obviously ended up not needing it.

I had Monday off and decided I'd take it easy again. I mowed the lawn and that was about it. But then with the temp around 94 it was all that was needed. Watched some tv before that and then soaked in the tub reading afterward. Then went and collected HDT from work and chilled on the couch some more.

So, yeah, nice relaxing weekend for the most part.

We of course have not been working out the way we should be. But with all his overtime (he's working the next 10 days in a row) he's pretty tired. So I said again yesterday that if we keep blowing it off we need to get our elliptical out of the laundry room and set up again. So much for losing 10 pounds before my family reunion.

I completely forgot about a doctor's appointment I have this afternoon at 4:30. I made it way back in March. It's a follow up on the birth control pill, to make sure it's working for me and all. Which it is so hopefully I'll be in and out of there. She didn't say there'd be an exam so as far as I know it's just gonna be us talking about it and getting a new prescription to fill for a year this time rather than a few months.

So yeah, apparently I was due for my annual check up. Good thing I shaved my legs the day before. And I got the whole, you really do need to go get a mammogram done since your 40 and all speech. Yeah, yeah, I know I do and I will. Eventually.

Hottest men

So I read an article about the hottest men in cinema. Per this author Hugh Grant was IT in the 90's and Matt Damen was IT in the 00's. Although I agree that both are hot in their own ways I just can't get behind them as the hottest.

But then, Brad Pitt has been my #1 since I first saw him so many years ago. So I am a bit biased when it comes to him being the hottest. But I mean really, so many of the guys that others list usually look the same in every movie. Hugh always has that same goofy grin and floppy hair and puppydog mentality. Matt, mostly anyway, has the same kick ass, don't mess with me or you're dead mentality. When he's not that he's usually playing kinda goofy but you still see the other underneath.

Whereas Brad has played pretty, gorgeous, scruffy, crazy/scary, stoned, dirty, psycho, air headed/pretty, etc. And no matter what he looks like or comes across as he's still just so damn hot. So much so I really can't say what movie I prefer him in. I guess, any movie that shows his body will do.

And coming in a close second is Dwayne Johnson (you know, the former The Rock). I gotta say the only time he didn't look so hot was in the one where he's a football player dad to a little girl and didn't know it. He looked rather skinny in that one but I think that was about the time he split with his wife so I'm gonna chalk it up to heartbreak.

Working out kicks my ass but I like it

So our working out hasn't gone as planned. We did really well for a couple of weeks and then with his overtime it got all screwed up. We're going to start again today. I'm not going to put weight amounts on here, not that anyone is reading it but still, but I'll say that for one day I got past a certain number and was very happy and excited. But the very next day I went back up a pound. Luckily I've been holding steady there but I really want to get back below it.

Ok, fine, let's just say the number is somewhere in the 170's. I have exactly one month before my family reunion and if I could lose just ten pounds I'll be very very happy. It won't be what I was down to last year but it'll be close and I'll still look better and feel much more happy with myself.
_____________________

So I take Poydras out this morning first thing when I got up as usual. It's before I've gone to the bathroom let alone put in my contacts. So I'm standing in the doorway telling him to go break and he's just standing there sniffing away at the porch and the railing. Finally, after much prodding, he goes down the steps and on to the grass & I'm thinking, yippee I'm gonna be able to pee soon. But then he keeps walking and all of a sudden stops and starts sniffing at this brown blob in the grass. I squint and slowly this dead bird comes into semi-view. UGH!!! I have to pull on his leash several times telling him to get away before he finally does. The more I looked at it though the more I started to think it might've been a rat instead. So later after getting ready for work & walking out the door I look at it and sure enough it's a bird.
_____________________

7/1/10

I had HDT get rid of the bird last night after we came home from working out. Which oh my God I was beat. During the last set of bench presses I couldn't lift the weights without his help, kicked my ass. But I felt good afterward that's for sure. Feeling like I'm accomplishing something out of it, I just gotta keep us on track. He suggested coming back after work today but there's a group of us from work going out afterward for dinner and drinks so won't be able to. But definitely will get back to it tomorrow.

We went light on dinner and only had a baked potato. I took the bigger one because I was starving before working out but I guess drinking the two EAS drinks filled me up more than I thought because I couldn't finish it. So I'm thinking we'll split one and then also have asparagus with it next time. Pretty much that's what we'll be doing on workout days, something really light like that. The drinks we're having before and after the workout provide our protein that's needed for building the muscles so we're good there. Not that having a chicken breast every now and then would hurt.

My arms and shoulders are pretty tired today but in a really good way. They're not sore, just tired, if that makes sense. My back is a little sore but that's good too.

The bad thing is is that one of my coworkers brought in donut holes and every time I passed them I grabbed one or two. Bad, just bad. And then going out for lunch although I had a pretty healthy one actually. Grilled chicken with roasted potatoes and grilled veggies. Not sure what the veggies were, I think zucchini (green & yellow) it was pretty tasteless really so I ate almost al of the pieces. And then dinner and drinks with everyone. UGH!

Media quote of the day:

Hmmm, not sure about this anymore

So, yeah, I came back to start posting again and sure enough it only lasted that one entry. The job and life just wasn't conducive to blogging anymore. But I quit that job and the new one is a lot more favorable. I only work 8 hours instead of 9 1/2 and I only drive 1.2 miles from home instead of 27. Yeah, definitely much better. Oh yeah, the people are much better too. The bosses leave you alone to do your work, I haven't had that since three companies ago. Boy did I miss that.

So let's see if I can recall anything that's happened since the last post.

Hmmm, oh yeah, THE SAINTS WON THE SUPERBOWL!!!

Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm several months behind in posting that but hey, it's still a pretty damn big deal. HDiTty and I are going to try to get down to the opening game in Sept. With the new job and all not sure if it'll happen but we're definitely gonna try.

Ok, what else. It's been over a year, geesh, didn't realize it's been that long. WOW. So anyway, in my last post Whiskers wasn't doing so well and we brought her home so we could have a little more time with her and that's all we had. She let us know it was time so we let her go. So now we're down to the two brothers - Pretty Boy and Cry Baby and the dog Poydras. Poydras and Pretty Boy still have their UFC fights almost every day. We keep saying we're going to film them and use the commentary from the fights and make a video but we just haven't done it yet.

Last year I finally did something about my weight and lost 18 pounds by eating less and better and exercising. The way you're supposed to do it. Then I tapered off on the exercise for whatever reason but still was slowly losing to a total of 23 pounds lost. Then I quit the job from hell and let it all go to pot. Gained almost all of it back, I'm so angry with myself over it. Last night HDiTty and I went to his work and used their workout room. I'm pretty darn sore today but happy. We've agreed we're going to keep going. We'd been talking about doing that for some time now but just never did. When I got home last night I just started to doing different things and when he came home and saw me in the workout gear he said let's go back to his work and I was all gung ho for it. I wasn't doing anything structured enough, I never do when I use weights and not a machine. We just worked on legs, we plan on going back this evening to do the upper body. And from there doing a Mon/Wed/Fri routine. I still plan on doing cardio on the other days. We need to get our elliptical back out of the laundry room so I can use it as well.

Well, that's about all I can think of right now. I'll sign off for now, if I think of anything else I'll add it in or just hit post.

It's the next day now. I never did get back on to post yesterday's entry so figure I'll write a little more then post.

We didn't get back to the workout room last night. Both of us are still sore, he more so than I. So we're going to go back tonight and start next week on the Mon/Wed/Fri routine.

So pretty big news from last night. Both the Cubs and Sox won their games. But something else pretty big happened, I can't remember what, oh yeah:

THE BLACKHAWKS WON THE STANLEY CUP!!!!!

It's been 49 years since they won it last. Woo to the Hoo! It was a great game too, each team answering the other in points until they finally won in overtime with a goal that no one knew even happened except for the guy who shot it in. He was celebrating and almost to the other side of the rink before the rest of the team even knew what was happening. It was golden.

And I kinda knew they'd give the MVP trophy to the captain of the team but I wanted Niemi, the goalkeeper, to get it. He saved some pretty damn good shots and for a rookie he held his own. When they were all passing around the Stanley Cup I kept saying, "Where's Niemi, where's Niemi?" Finally he got it, was great to see him holding it up.

Media quote of the day:

"I was very confident at the end of the game and I felt very good that they weren't going to score,'' Niemi said. "I wasn't worried. I was just doing my job."

She's Baaak....maybe

We'll see for how long this time. Man have I been gone or what? Not only did I just stop writing I quit going to other peoples sites as well. It was like I just fell off the face of the earth. There's really no reason either other than laziness. I just quit going on the computer other than to pay bills. I've thought about coming back to it from time to time but just never did.

The real test will be on how long it takes me to write this post. Because I'm already stopping to go do something else. It's 3/19/09, maybe I'll come back today, maybe not.

See, told you, it's now 3/26/09 a whole week later and I'm just now getting back. Yeah, I just don't know about this anymore. I still want to be a journaler but it's just taking the time to actually do it that's the hard thing.

So, let's see, what's happened in the last few months since I posted last....

Not much really. The holidays happened and they went fine, nothing really to report. Two of my nieces turned another year older and their party was same as always. We had a blast playing Apples to Apples Jr.

HDiTty had his birthday in February and I had mine at the beginning of this month. We didn't do anything for either one.

His oldest sister had a baby boy (her second son) in February. He's cute as button of course. He has a heart murmur but just had another dr appointment the other day and the little hole is already sealing up. The dr said that most holes seal up within three years, every now and then it might take up to five. But basically he's fine and that's all that matters.

Crybaby and Pretty Boy are doing just fine. Whiskers isn't doing so well. She's walking on her hind legs rather than her paws and her tail is dragging. Per her x-rays it looks like she may have had a trauma where the tail meets her back. She's on a steroid to help make her better but so far other than a very slight improvement it doesn't seem to be working. But we're going to finish all the medicine before saying it was a bust.

Poydras is doing wonderful. There was a very bad scare with him several weeks back but he's all fine now. HD has psoriasis and Poydras chewed up one of the topical medicines for it. It's a vitamin D base medicine which is really really bad for dogs. Luckily HD caught it quick enough and induced vomiting and took him to the emergency vet right away. He was there from Friday mid day to the following Tuesday mid day. He had energy and couldn't understand why he was there but they were testing his calcium and phosphate levels every 12 hours. Every time they did one would go up and the other would go down. They needed both down to an acceptable level before they would release him. They also had him on an IV of fluids to make him go pee a lot to help clean out his kidneys. But he seems to be all better now with no lasting effects.

He and Pretty Boy are wonderful friends. The play like crazy. Poydras gets a little over zealous sometimes going after PB's hind legs but for the most part they're just great together.

So, ok, it's now 4/24/09!!!! See, told you I probably wasn't REALLY back. Since the last time I wrote Whiskers was taken back to the vet. She had a growth on her front fright leg like she did last year that we had removed. The growth last time was a cyst so we just figured that's what this was too and didn't bother to do anything about it. After she was put on the steroid for her hind legs I noticed a huge round lump on the right side of her throat/neck. Turns out that both growths are cancer. Since she's still eating just fine, going to the bath room just fine and still out and around us and not hiding we decided to take her home with us to live out her last days. When we notice her not eating properly or maybe starting to hide we'll take her and have her put to sleep.

She's lived a long and happy life and it would cost soooo much to have the growths removed if the the throat one even could be. Without and MRI they wouldn't be able to tell where it all is into and the MRI alone would cost a shitload of money. So, for us, the best decision is to do what we're doing. Sad, that's for sure. But at least we were able to make the decision this way and still have time with her unlike a couple of the others that we had to put down.

So that's really about it for updates at this time. I started this at the end of winter and finished it at the beginning of spring. Wow, we'll see how long it takes me to do another one.

Media quote of the day:

Spring, the Sweet Spring by Thomas Nashe

Spring, the sweet spring, is the year’s pleasant king,
Then blooms each thing, then maids dance in a ring,
Cold doth not sting, the pretty birds do sing:
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!

The palm and may make country houses gay,
Lambs frisk and play, the shepherds pipe all day,
And we hear aye birds tune this merry lay:
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!

The fields breathe sweet, the daisies kiss our feet,
Young lovers meet, old wives a-sunning sit,
In every street these tunes our ears do greet:
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to witta-woo!

What's been happening around the homestead or rather, what's not been happening around the homestead

So the last chick that was hired back in May in my department has now been fired. We're down to two people in my department again, just me and bosslady. And now I find out that I'll be moving down one cubicle to be right next to her. I don't understand why it's important for that to happen, makes no sense to me. Especially if they eventually hire another person it would make more sense for them to be right next to her. Sucks big time.

This Thursday I'll be freezing my ass off at the Saints/Bears game. Right now they're calling for the temperature to only be around 15 degrees with a 30% chance of snow. UGH!! Hopefully that'll change and it'll just be cold. Or if we're lucky we'll be under the second tier again and out of most of the elements. But even so, I can't wait to be there. One of these years the Saints luck will have to change and they'll go back to beating the Bears. Or maybe it's our fault and we should quit going and then maybe they'll win. Naaa, that ain't gonna happen. As long as they keep coming to Chicago we'll be there.

Other than those items it's pretty much been the same old thing all over again in the peanuthead household. The puppy is coming along in his house training. He's had a couple accidents since we've been back from vacation that's about it. Luckily he's never gone poo in the house, just piddling. The two boy cats will play with him from time to time but Whiskers still won't have anything to do with him.

Bowling still goes up and down with how well we all do. But we're close to worst there, luckily we haven't ever ended up in last place but there's times we're close to it. But we're having fun and that's the whole point.

That's about it for now. Now you see why I haven't been updating much. I'll try to do better but I can't promise anything. Hell, not only have I not been updating I haven't been visiting anyone's site either. I'll try to be better about that too. But not today, I've got too much crap to do.
