Playing catch up on goings on since the last post

So, yeah, it's been awhile again, just about 2 months.  A few things have happened since my last post.  We went to the Saints/Packers game at the end of September.  Then went on vacation for our anniversary in October.  HDiTty's grandma fell and fractured her pelvis bone in September.  She's been in the nursing home recovering ever since.  But we're hoping she'll be home by Thanksgiving.  If so that'll be the best thing to be thankful for.

Hmmm, what else?  Oh yeah.

The Saints kicked the Falcons asses on Sunday!!!  Damn dirty birds couldn't hang on to an undefeated season, not against the Saints and the Saints Nation.  Woohoo!!

So, let's see, I'll back up to the Packers game.  I forgot to take pictures while there so none to share.  Unless of course you'd like to see one of Clay Matthews.  My niece and Jim's daughter loves him so I took several of him for them.  But other than that no pictures.  The fly over was awesome as always.  I did get video of the fly over though.  Hmm, I wonder if I can get it in here, I've never tried to do a video before.

Hey, looks like I did it.  Heee  By the way that deep voiced singer is NOT HDiTty, it was one of the guys right behind us.  The high pitched wooooo was me though.  As you can see we were in the end zone.  We were only 6 rows off the field, pretty nice actually since most of the scores were done on this side of the field.  Unfortunately the Saints lost but we still had a great time.  The first time that we've gone without having any assholes to deal with.  Normally we have drunk hecklers.  I don't mind some good hearted ribbing but it's usually pretty nasty.  I have to say, everyone we were sitting around were really cool.

A week later we were on vacation.  We went to Niagara Falls for the 5th - 7th.  The 6th was our anniversary.  It was both our first times there.  We did the Maid of the Mist and the Sky Wheel (a large Ferris wheel).  I got a couple pictures from there.

The second one was when we were sitting at the top for a little bit looking pretty much straight down.  And as you can see the trees were turning quite nicely.  Unfortunately the glass wasn't a true glass and was all scratchy and dingy.

We also went to the botanical gardens which were nice.  Gotta say I was glad we only paid $5.00 for parking because although it was nice it wasn't worth more than that.  When I was researching all the places to go it was always on the list of top places to see.  Maybe during the height of summer but in the beginning of October it wasn't all that great.  I was expecting these terrific fall colors but none of their trees had even begun to turn.  We're assuming they must water them which kept them greener for much longer than normal.  There were still a lot of flowers in bloom but it just wasn't what I was expecting after all the hype.

Saturday night we went to a comedy club for dinner and a show since that's what we did for first date.  They said there would be door prizes so we filled out our names and put them in the bucket.  Mine ended up being called but it wasn't just for a door prize, oh no, I actually had to get up on stage and be a contestant in the guy's "game show."  He had 3 questions about Thanksgiving.  I got the first two correct so I won.  I got his 20th anniversary DVD.  We watched the first 30 minutes or so of it but it wasn't that great and a lot of it we already saw that night.  He was pretty funny in person though and the food was good so we had a great time anyway.  The video is way too long otherwise I'd put it here as well.

Sunday the 7th we hit the road to head to Ottawa to visit our friends there for the rest of the week.  Sunday night we went to one of the couples houses to watch the Saints game and have dinner.  After it was over we headed over to the other couples house that we were staying with for the rest of the week.  We didn't do much other than hang out having good food, good conversations and good rest.

We did go bowling one night though.  But not your normal bowling, oh no, it was Canadian bowling.  Instead of 10 pins there were only 5 pins.  And instead of a regular bowling ball you got much smaller balls that fit in your palm with no holes.  And instead of two turns you get three.  There are still strikes and spares but you only get a spare if you knock the remaining pins down on your second turn.  If you knock them all down in your third turn you just get the equivalent of whatever they add up to.  The five pins all total 15 points.  It. Was. Crazy.  Again the video of HDT is too long but suffice it to say it was a trip.  We went with both couples, so we asked them if any had gone "real" bowling and only one on them had and he didn't like it much.  Crazy.

So, what else.  Ah yes.  The kittens are growing up nicely.  They're causing issues just like they're namesakes.  Merry decided he wanted to go behind the tv and in doing so he knocked down a shadowbox that then hit a huge fleur-de-lis that then hit a little Saints gnome.  The fleur-de-lis and gnome both broke beyond repair.  Pippin has knocked things down as well but hasn't broken anything luckily and gotten into food items he shouldn't.  But we love 'em.

This is Pip in his best camouflage outfit.

And although you can't really see him, that black mass is Merry going after Pip.

What, I'm innocent, innocent I say.....

Yep, I'm innocent too.  See, so innocent I can relax completely.

The two hooligans with Bander keeping watch

And this shows how much they've grown.  Pippin is just as big at 7 months as Pogo who's 12 years, actually he's bigger in the fact that he's a very solid cat.  Pogo is tiny really.

So that's it really.  Other than a UFC fight that the boys came over for and some other family get togethers here and there we really haven't done much.

More gifts exchanged and a scary but happy victory

So last night after work HDT's dad and stepmom came over for us to exchange gifts. Normally we go to their house on Christmas Day but since he had to work the rest of the weekend that didn't happen this year. So we ordered some dinner and sat around visiting then finally opened gifts. I got the whole Ally McBeal dvd package which makes me one happy girl!

Not long after that Jim and his girls came over to get their gifts for both Christmas and birthdays. His youngest daughter's birthday is in November and it falls within a couple/few days of Thanksgiving so we never get together for it then. And his oldest daughter's birthday is on 12/23 so again, we never get together for it. So every year they get all their presents on the same day, usually after Christmas.

Shortly before the Saints game started his dad and stepmom left so they could watch the game at home. HDT tried to convince them to stay but his dad had to get up at 4:00 to get ready for work so he said he was gonna watch the game in bed so he could just fall asleep when he got tired enough. Jim and the girls stuck around.

It was a really good game but a nail biter that's for sure. We were hootin and hollerin pretty much the whole time; yelling the tv several times too. HDT commented a few times on how Hartley had to be feeling really badly because of his missed field goal in OT the last time they met. But when Brees threw two interceptions in a row I said that Hartley was feeling better now. But luckily and mightily they pulled it out and won the game. Very happy.

I went to bed pretty much right after but they all hung out a little longer. I think it was around midnight when I heard them leave. HDT didn't crawl into bed until 4:30 and then it felt like I had only slept for about 10 minutes before my alarm went off. Ah well.

Two weeks!

I got the turkey I wanted last Wednesday. I was very excited. It came in the 10th frame of the 2nd game. WOO HOO!!

Although the Saints lost yesterday, very sad, they still did pretty darn good. The first quarter they weren't looking so hot, like they didn't even have a chance. But they fought their way back and gave the Broncos a run for their money. They certainly made them work for their win. And if it weren't for a missed field goal at the end they wouldn't have won at all. Hell, two missed field goals. As sad as I am that they lost I'm even more sad for Gramatica, he's gotta feel like total shit. Poor guy.

We've decided to go to Door County. I've spent quite a bit of time checking out cabins and writing down the names of the places I like the most. So now I have to get HDiTty to sit down with me and look 'em over so we can decide where we'll be staying and get it booked. I'll be trying to get him to do that tonight. I'm really hoping the colors have started changing by then. But it's only two weeks away though so if they have at all I'm thinking it won't be a whole lot. But my hopes are high.

Before we go I have to get a haircut and style and get new contacts. I only have two weeks to do those things. I've been saying for the last two weeks I was going to get them done. Yeah, I need to quit talking and get doing.

So what else has been happening or will be. Hmmm. Ah yes, Poydras has been nipped, chipped, shot and will soon be identified. Last Wednesday he was taken in to be neutered, microchipped, immunized and had blood drawn to be sent off to figure out for sure what breed(s) he is.

He was pretty out of it that afternoon when he was brought home but by Thursday evening he was much better. And by Friday he was back to being a ball of energy. We're supposed to keep his activity down to a minimum for 10 days but that's been pretty hard to do.

He's still having "accidents" every now and then but for the most part he's doing really well. He hasn't had one in his kennel for weeks now but he's still had them in the basement. We can usually tell when he needs to go out because he'll start sniffing all around the basement. But there have been a few times now that he doesn't do that all, doesn't do anything else either to indicate he has to go and next thing we know he squats and starts peeing. Other times we don't see him doing it all but will notice a wet spot on the floor. We'll get there, I have a faith.

I bought a baby gate that we put up at the bottom of the stairs to keep him contained in the basement. It's much easier then having to keep him on a leash while we're down there.

Media quote of the day: Autumn Colors - Felix LeRoy Perry

Pressed between the bible pages it may fade
Ironed between waxed paper softly laid

Captured by the solitude of times past
Seasons change but these memories die cast

Autumn colors on a schoolroom wall dance
Brighten young and old with every glance

Swirling leafs giggle out side the window’s sill
Of Halloween’s witches and goblins they tell

Time to tuck beach memories away somehow
As we applaud the summer’s closing bow

The smell of burning leafs perfume the air
Children frolic in piles raked up with care

So glad Mother Nature sure knows what to do
With sweet autumn’s colors just for me and you!

Sad day in Chicago for the New Orleans Saints

Well, the Saints lost but we still had a good time. It was very cold but at the same time we were lucky enough to be under the second tier seats so we were out of the falling snow and winds. We had a few hecklers but at the same time most of the people were pretty cool.

The snow started early morning. When I got up at 6a.m. to feed the cats there was already about 1/4" on the ground. By the time we left to go pick up some hiking boots from my mom for me to wear rather than my tennis shoes there was a good inch, maybe a little more on the ground. But at least it wasn't snowing then. We decided to switch vehicles and came back home and took H Ditty's 4 wheel drive instead. We were leaving a little later than we wanted to but then we found out that the guy we got the tickets from called the guy we were going with to say that he had one more ticket for us. A parking ticket. Which saved us a lot of time because they were under the stadium!! That my friends was just too damn cool. This same ticket was going for $250.00 on line. Our seating tickets were going for $1,300.00 to close to $3,000.00 a piece. Yeah, we were damn lucky to be there.

It was very nice to see so many Who Dats walking around. Usually when we go to a game I play "spot the Saints fan" and it's not very easy. Most of the time I need to use the binoculars to find them. Not this time, they were just about everywhere. Including sitting right next to me, two of them showed up. They said they were very glad to see us. They weren't wearing any Saints stuff though because they were a little worried about the Bears fans.

The couple sitting directly behind us were Bears fans and the guy said he was worried sitting on the visitors side with a lot of Saints fans and what we would do. But we all were "really cool" he said.

The game itself was fun and sad to watch. It was pretty exciting. Up until that damn safety. The momentum just seemed to go out of the Saints. They just couldn't recover it seemed like. The Bears played a great game, they showed up to play. I don't know what happened to the Saints. It truly seemed like they weren't there. The drive right before halftime looked like they finally showed up. Right after halftime they were there and then the safety happened and they were gone again.

The run by Reggie shut a lot of people up though. We were screaming our heads off. My throat is still a little sore from all the screaming. Not just for that run though, there were plenty of other times we were a hollerin.

We stood the entire time because most of the people in our section stood for the entire time. Except for two plays the people never sat during the game and only rarely any other time. I'd sit from time to time during time outs or changing sides at the quarter endings. I have bad knees and my left foot is fucked up (I need to go see a doctor about it) so I had to sit every now and then. I was pretty stiff after our drive home. But I took some Aleve and except for the one part on my left foot I feel much better.

I bought a pennant. Don't know where we'll put it, maybe no where on display. It might end up with a lot of other Saints stuff in storage. But at least it's for the NFC Championship, showing both our teams helmets and their names.

After the game we stayed behind to see the couple interviews with Grossman and Urlacher and then Lovie Smith getting the trophy. There were only a few Saints fans left after it was all done. I at first thought we were it but we saw a few there. Most people were pretty cool. We got a few "Go home"s and "Who Dats?" thrown back at us. But for the most part people were telling us "good game" and meaning it, "hell of a season," "next year," "have a safe trip home." I only corrected one person on that one and he asked that since we're from here will we be rooting for the Bears in the Superbowl or not. I told him that of course we would be. That I'm a Bears fan, just not as much as a Saints fan, nowhere near as much, but still a fan.

Hell, we'll probably have a Superbowl party and it'll definitely be Bears City up in here.

Anyway, we'll be back next year. I have faith in our team. They just have to do something about the defense. They gotta train harder and maybe get a new player or two.

I'm proud of them. They came back from such a deficit last year. No one expected this much of a turn around and for them to make it all the way to the championship game is just awesome.

Nonmedia quote of the day: "Go Saints!" and "Who Dat!" heard all over the stadium today and it was wonderful.

On my mind

There's been quite a bit on my mind lately.

1) First and foremost. I really and truly hate not having my computer. I don't think I mentioned this at all but I've been without my computer now for a little over 2 weeks. It crapped out one day and we can't fix it. We have to get a whole new one and haven't done it yet. So I've been using H Ditty's computer whenever I can get on it. Which isn't very often. I have to wait until he's gone to bed which is usually around 8:30/9:00. He still hasn't acclimated to the day shift yet. So anyway I haven't been able to get to all my favorite sites for awhile either. Really sucks. I'll be playing catch up tonight and tomorrow.

2) A very horrendous thing happened to one my coworkers the other day. The lady that did my phone interview was involved in a car accident and died. Two of the women in my dept. talked to her while she was on her way in. One of them was discussing what they'd do when she got there which she said would be in 15 minutes. Almost an hour later someone else who knew she'd be in soon was looking for her and that's when we all realized that it'd been an hour since the last person had talked to her. She was an incredibly nice person. It's absolutely tragic.

3) I need to clarify something. It's been awhile since H Ditty has been here and he recently came by and caught up on his reading. He says that what I put in my comments of the post about his being so nice to me on my first day of work made it sound like I was willing to leave him recently. So I need to clarify that the last time I thought about leaving him was many many years ago. Before we were engaged, let alone married. For those of you who don't know, we've been together for over 11 years. Most of those years he would say how he had no interest in getting married. I would wonder from time to time why I was staying with a man that didn't want to marry me. And one of his biggest flaws was that he didn't help around the house as much as he should have. It was the fight we'd get into the most and it would happen more often than not. At those times I would also wonder why I was with a man that didn't respect our house, me or us enough to help out more and marry me rather than shack up with me. Then when I would calm down I'd think that if this is one of my biggest complaints about him I'd be silly to leave. He's not cheating on me, he's not lying to me, and all those other crappy things some men will do he's not doing so I should count my blessings and stick it out. I did and he did eventually help more around here and marry me. Love you!

4) I'll admit it, I'm a little worried about the game on Sunday. Not because I believe the Bears will win, but that the Saints will lose. If you know what I mean. If not, I believe if the Saints lose it'll be because of their own damn mistakes, not from anything the Bears do. Not to say that they won't make a good play or two, but that what they do won't cause them to win. I'm also a little worried that if the Saints win something might happen to one of us. It could be minor or big you just never know. Or I'm worrying for nothing and nothing will happen at all. Which is really what I think will happen but I'm still worried about what might happen.

5) We're trying to figure out what kind of sign to make so we'll get on tv. We just found out last night where our seats are. I have to tell you, they're kick ass
seats. We're in section 111 and row 18. That's in between the 30 and 40 yard lines. Don't know what side though, if it'll be visitor's or home. Although it is the East side of the stadium and I think the visitor's are usually on that side. If so that'll be even better. It's supposed to be snowing, 1-4 inches they're calling for on Sunday. Some of that is supposed to be coming down during the game. I'm going to be freezing! But having a blast, either way, win or lose, I'm going to be having a blast.

6) I'm really liking my job. I'm busy all day which is such a blessing after that God awful job I had before. At 5:00 I got the list of what my projects will be. Both new guy and I have been helping boss lady and snaggle tooth (the 1st chick that was training me my first couple of days. She has a couple crooked teeth but they actually make her cuter. She's also extremely nice) with all of the jobs we have going. Today, we got a list of the jobs that are no going to be considered ours. Snaggle tooth will no longer have any of them, she works the service side and helps with the administrative work when needed. I'm happy to finally have my own jobs to worry about rather than being all over the place.

7) I can't stand the fact that I like that stupid Hinder song Lips of an Angel. It's really catchy though. But the subject matter is deplorable!

8) Numbers has been on in the background as I've been writing this. That is one good show.

9) Did I mention that I can't stand not having my own computer. There's like 5 or 6 sites that I go to that I haven't gotten around to adding to my blog list so I have to link to them by other sites or comments. It really sucks. I know, what's the big deal in doing that. Well, no big deal really, it's just the inconvenience of it all. Maybe that's what I'll do tomorrow, finally get them added.

Well, I'm signing off so I can go read some blogs/journals. Have a nice night.

Media quote of the day: Please, understand, sometimes I can't choose what I work on. I can't follow through on a line of thinking just because I want to, or, or because it's needed. I have to work on what's in my head. And right now, this is what's in my head. - Charlie Eppes - Numbers

Saints vs. Bears

So, I just found out last night that I'm going to the game this Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am about this. At first it was just supposed to be H Ditty going with a coworker and two of that guys friends. Then the other day he says he's not gonna go because he doesn't feel it's right that he'd go and not me. That we're not watching it together. I told him I thought he was silly. I double checked with him to make sure he really was ok with it and he was.

Then yesterday he says he called up his buddy and told him the bad news. They talked for awhile then the guy asks HD if he wants the good news now or later. HD asks what he's talking about and the guy tells him that his neighbor that was gonna go has now bowed out. That there's an extra ticket and if we want it it's mine. HELL YEAH WE WANT IT!!!!!

SO I'M GOING TO THE GAME!!!!

I'm going to be freezing my ass off that's for sure but I'm gonna be lovin' every minute of it. I cannot wait.

Media quote of the day: We all know most marriages depend on a firm grasp of football trivia. - Modell - Diner This is a good movie, if you haven't seen you it you should rent it and watch it. It made me think of H Ditty. He hasn't seen it and less than a month after I watched it he did to me what one of the guys does to his fiance only on a lesser scale. Basically he made the girl answer over a 100 questions about football before he'd marry her. Now, HD didn't do that to me, since we're already married of course. But about 3 games into this season he made me name all the teams in both the NFC and AFC, well, as many as I could. Which I did quite well with thank you very much. Then I had to name as many quarterbacks and other players as I could and which teams they're on. I did pretty well there too.
