Pulled tooth, braces and the good times to go with..... NOT

So, it finally became time to pull the problem tooth (#25) and get the bottom braces put on last week.

The week before that I had my monthly appointment for the top braces, on the 17th to be exact.  So last month in April at the end of that appointment the dr says that next month we'll do the mold for your retainer for your top teeth.  So I said to him, "So that sounds like we're getting close to do the bottom teeth.  Should I make the appointment to get the tooth pulled the same day or what?"  He says to me and I quote, "No, no, no, I'm not even ready to talk about that yet, don't do that yet!"  I said, "ok, but when the time comes should I..." and he interrupts and says again that he's not ready to even talk about that yet don't do it.   OOOOKKKK

So on the 17th they're fitting me for the retainer/bite plate and the assistant is saying how next Friday when you come back we'll have this ready for you and the top braces will come off and the bottom ones will go on.  By the time she was done taking the mold out of my mouth so I could speak she was now talking to the doctor about something then his hands were in there doing the new wire and by the time all was said and done I completely forgot about what she had said.

So on my way into work I remembered she said the bottom ones would be put on so I called them up asking about the tooth, should it be pulled or what.  He apologized and said he had forgotten all about it but even if I hadn't pulled it before hand the oral surgeon I'd be seeing is good enough that he'd be able to do it with them on.  But of course pulling it before hand would be best. Ya think!?! So I asked him since my appointment with him isn't until the middle of the afternoon should I do it the same day so that way I can take the whole day off and get it done all at once.  He said no, because if I do it the same day it'd still be bloody and the blood would get in the way of what he's doing.  I should do it at least a day if not more ahead to give it a bit of time to heal over.

So my appointment for the tooth pulling was on the 23rd at 10:30.  After the 40 or so minutes of letting the Novocain take affect it lasted all of 5 minutes to pull the damn thing.  I did feel it when he had to push down on it to try to loosen it and he said I may hear cracking but not to worry it'll just be the tooth.  Sure enough 3 cracks were heard but he got it out and then he said he could see the bit of real tooth that was still there with the fucked up root.  Fucked up - my words not him.  Heh  That came right out, then all he had to do was stitch it up and I was out of there.

I fully expected to go into work that afternoon at 1:00.  HDT kept telling me I shouldn't but I felt fine.  Well sort of.  I woke up with a headache and both my legs were aching as well and they didn't get any better for quite awhile.

When the dr was done he put a big piece of gauze on it and told me to bite down for 45 minutes.  If after taking it off it was still bleeding put the new piece he gave me on it and bite down for 30 more minutes.  Luckily I didn't have to do that.  It was all to help the blood clot form.  Because my mouth was slightly open and everything that had just been done was done I was salivating pretty heavily.  So I was constantly swallowing.  After being home for about 15 minutes my stomach started to get queasy from all the saliva with some blood mixed in that was going into it.  Also Poydras started sniffing at me and at one point his nose was hitting my chin.  I went to swipe him away telling him to stop and my hand brushed my chin and felt wetness.  I had been drooling for who knows how long right down my chin and it also had been dripping and with all the numbness I didn't notice it.  But you'd think HDT would've being right in front of me and all but NOOOO he didn't.  My shirt had a big ole wet spot on it from the drool.  Damn man.

So anyway, while we're sitting on the bed discussing what had happened, or sort of anyway, I couldn't really talk all that well what with the big ole piece of gauze and numbness, he's also looking at the paper they gave for what's to be done right after and up to a week.  He reads where I was to take the first dose of antibiotics the night before.  Of course I didn't because I didn't have the prescription.  So he calls them up and they say I should've gotten three at the time of my consultation.  Sure, yeah, but that was way back in December people.  Thanks a lot for the reminder when I called to make the appointment a week ahead and their call to confirm it the day before.  Hell, even at the appointment you'd think someone would have asked if I'd taken the pill the night before.  So the lady tells HDT that they'll call one in for me and call him back when it's done.

After about 5 minutes I think I might know where they are if I hadn't thrown them away and sure enough I find them.  He calls them back to let them know we're good.  I ask him to fill them for me up the street at Walgreens so he could get back in time for me to go to work at 1:00.  After another 10 minutes he FINALLY gets out of bed to go to the bathroom.  While he's in there I say to him again to hurry up, don't take a shower, it's now 12:30 and I have to be leaving soon.  While saying that I all of a sudden got a huge flair of pain in the right side on my brain.  And it barely let up.  So I said, ok, he's won I'm not going in.

He called my boss to let her know and she laughed and told him she fully expected me to be calling in, said she thought I was wishful thinking it about coming in.  By the time we got the prescriptions filled and I took the first 800mg Ibuprofen (rather than the hydrocodone they also gave) the Novocain was just starting to wear off.  The pain pill took care of that right away but the leg pain took almost another two hours to go away and the migraine didn't go away until almost 5:00.  Which by that time I was practically falling asleep.  Don't know what wiped me out but man I could barely keep my eyes open.  So yeah, it was a good thing I ended up staying home.

Friday morning I was all better though so I was able to go into work with no problems.  Chatted with my boss for the first half hour or so and then as I'm leaving her office she tells me to take it easy.  Just do easy work until I had to leave for the day.  She's so damn awesome.  I'm so grateful my last place of employment layed me off and I found this place.

So I'm sitting in the chair at 2:00 and the dr's other assistant is working that day and she's preparing my bottom teeth for the braces and she says how he'll show me the retainer/bite plate.  So I ask her if the top ones are coming off then.  And she acted surprised and said no they'll be staying on probably for the whole duration.  There's a small chance he might decide to take them off early but doubtful.  I'm getting the retainer/bite plate now because they still come down about halfway which means they could be hitting the bottom braces and he wants to make sure that doesn't happen.  He tells me I'm to wear it all the time except for when I eat.  Yeah, that doesn't really happen.  I definitely do while I'm sleeping but only partly during the day.  At rest my teeth don't even touch unless I'm actually biting down and really why would I do that unless I'm eating. So yeah, not too worried about wearing it during the day when I'm at work and talking on and off.   But don't worry I do wear it periodically throughout the day.

Within two hours of the braces being on there was already a slight space between the teeth that are moving in to replace the gap and the other teeth on their other sides.  Damn that's fast.  He did say he wanted to accelerate the process too so instead of a monthly appointment I'll be going in every two weeks for an adjustment.

And I have to say that although there is some pain and discomfort it's nothing like the top teeth were which made me very surprised.  I thought for sure with a tooth being pulled and the others moving in to take it's place there'd be all kinds of pain.  Maybe that'll come but right now I'm not hating it.  And I am very happy that it's all finally gonna be done and over with.  I mean, don't get me wrong, eating still isn't pleasant but it's bearable.  Although being that it has just been a week I still can't bite into things unless it's very soft. 

And I wasn't allowed to spit or drink through a straw until today. Which made "spitting" out my toothpaste not very easy. I had to sort of just push it out. And we went to see three movies over the weekend and I had to keep taking the lid off our drink rather than using the straw which was a big pain in the ass. Every time I took a drink I was afraid I was going to spill either the drink all over me or my popcorn all over the floor from balancing on my legs. But neither happened and I was able to enjoy the movies.

We saw Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness and 42. Gotta say Star Trek in 3D on the IMAX was pretty damn awesome but between it and Iron Man I actually like Iron Man more. It had more "story" to it. Meaning there was more down time inbetween all the action. Don't get me wrong, I like action but I like story with my action. And 42, wow, what an awesome movie. And if even half of it was true, being based on a true story and all, I learned quite a bit. But I agree with HDT that even though I very much enjoyed the movie and I love me some Major League and A League of Their Own they still don't make me like baseball.  I'm a Cubs fan that doesn't care for baseball.  Heh

A little bit of this, a little bit of that

So let's see.  It's been awhile again since I've posted.  Not sure of everything that has happened since then but I do know there's been a few things.

One was that we went for a bike ride a couple weeks ago and crashed into each other.  I took a tumble and scraped up my elbow.

That's the night it happened right after it was washed up and neosporin was put on, hence all the shine. 

This is one week later after it had time to scab up.  This is right after a bath where I let it soak for awhile.  Which is why the scabs are light in color rather than scabby looking.  Hee  I peeled those off and put some neosporin on right after. 

It's looking really good now.  Just pink skin in a few spots.

My brother who had married a woman from the Philippines back in 2004 who brought her two daughters with her has now divorced her.  It's been coming for a long time really so no one surprised when it finally happened but we're all very very sad because she's been working in New York city for the last year.  So now that they're divorced she took her daughters with her.  We were all tearing up pretty darn good when we were saying our goodbyes a few weeks ago. 

BUT, we just found out that she's letting them come back for a couple weeks vacation with him and his two kids from his first marriage.  They're going to go camping for a couple weeks at the end of July.  I'm hoping HDT and I can go as well during the weekend they'll be there.  We shall see.

Mother's Day, my mom's birthday, and Father's Day have all happened since my last entry.  We took our moms out to our favorite Chinese restaurant for Mother's Day and then for some ice cream afterward for desert.  Went back to my mom's house to visit for a little while longer before finally heading out around 9ish. 

My mom's birthday was last Thursday and we and my brother Wayne and his family took her to a local pizza joint for dinner.  Afterward they left for home and Mom, HDT and I sat around the campfire for a little while.  HDT eventually left because he was so tired but I hung out until almost 11pm.  Scott showed up with his daughter for a few minutes before he had to take her home.  And the girls called from New York unexpectedly so that was really nice.

Turns out my Aunt Lori got married that day as well.  Not only did the sparks fly with her husband at my mom's house the year before but then they get married on her birthday.  Very happy for them all.

Yesterday for Father's Day we took his dad and stepmom to the same Chinese restaurant.  It was their first time there, they really enjoyed it.  Enough that they ordered a whole other dinner to take home for later.  Then we went to see Snow White and the Huntsman.  We all enjoyed it.  I liked how dark it was and thought Kristen Stewart did a good job.  We stood around talking in the parking lot for about an hour before we finally said our goodbyes for the night.

Hmmm, what else?  Actually I think those were the most significant things.  We've been working hard as usual.  We've slacked on exercising but I fully plan on getting back into it this week.  Less than a month before my work's manager's meeting and I'd like to be down 10 lbs if at all possible before I meet all these people I've been talking on the phone with since January. 

My oldest nephew is in town for the week.  We all plan on getting together tomorrow to play some Whirlyball and have some fun.  Saturday we plan on a family gathering at my mom's house for more food and merriment.  Then later who ever wants to will go to our house to watch the UFC fights.

Stooges and Pop Rocks

We finally got our taxes done!!  WOOHOO!!!!

Yep, the King and Queen of Procrastination struck again.  But at least we had one more day to do them since today is actually tax day.  Heh

So yeah, I completed them last night just after 10pm.  And the really bad thing about waiting so long to do them?  We always, I mean always, get a refund so there is no reason not to do them earlier.  Every year we say we're going to do them and every year we're doing them at the last minute.

Anyway....

On Saturday while we were just hanging out trying to catch up on the dvr'd stuff Jim sent a text to HDT asking if we'd like to go see The Three Stooges with him and Pat.  We knew we wanted to see it but the big question was, did we want to see it with those two.  Well, mainly Pat.  Pat is very hyper critical.  Especially about stuff that he really likes.  So we were both a little hesitant on seeing it with them.  But decided to go ahead anyway.

Very glad we did.  We all four enjoyed it very much.  All three guys nailed their parts perfectly.  HDT and I love Will Sasso in everything he does so were very happy that he did so well.  And we both agree that Sophia Vergara must be just about the most sexiest woman out there.  The only other woman that I can think of that still beats her is Halle Berry.  I don't know that any woman would ever beat her out for most sexy in my book.

After the movie we took Pat home and he invited us in so we went.  He cooked up some brats, HDT and I ran to the store to pick up some sides and soda and we had a good dinner while hanging out.

After dinner we watched a Sherlock Holmes show from the BBC on Netflix that Pat really likes.  He wanted us to see a more accurate depiction of what Holmes is really like compared to the Hollywood Robert Downey Jr movies.  No where near as flamboyant that's for sure.  But still enjoyable.

Sunday was his niece's birthday party.  We hadn't gotten her gift yet so we ran to Toys R Us before heading to the party.  Got her a couple of games and as we're entering the checkout lane I notice Pop Rocks and grab some for myself.  HDT asked if I was getting them for her. I said no because I wasn't sure about age limits.  So we looked, nothing is mentioned so we got her some as well.

Unfortunately Jess didn't leave enough time between the start of the party and the time she chose for swimming to allow presents to be opened while we were all there.  So she took them home to be opened.  But she did call us at least right after she opened our gift which she was very happy to see.  We got her a box of 5 Disney puzzles in 3D and a Happy Feet Ice block game.  She was trying the Pop Rocks when Jess called.  I can't remember now what she said her tongue was doing but I do recall it was funny.  She liked them though so that's good. 

I keep forgetting mine in the car.  Luckily it's been cool out these last few days so they're not spoiling at least.

Lemon cake - good

So we had a nice weekend with his family.  At least most of the weekend was with his family.

Friday was his niece's birthday so we went over to grandma's for dinner and cake.  His sister provided the pizza and his mom made the cake.  The cake was a panda which is his sister's favorite animal.  I had the ears and they were yummy.

Saturday we hung out catching up on dvr'd shows while he also played Star Wars.  At some point Jim sent a text to HDT asking if we'd like to see a movie.  So he came over, they went out and picked up dinner and after eating we headed out to watch Wrath of the Titans in 3D.  I enjoyed it.  There were times the 3D was annoying but for the most part it was just part of the movie.

On the way home I decided to run by a grocery store that I can only get my caffeine free dew.  And while there we decided to also pick up a pizza for later.  And then while discussing what pizza to get HDT mentioned we had steaks that needed cooking so Jim bought himself one.  We got a few other groceries and then headed home. 

By the time we got the replacement kerosene tank and prepared the food it was almost midnight when we sat down to eat. 

No long after I was just too tired to stay up so went to bed.  Jim was planning on leaving then but apparently stuck around.  HDT finally crawled in to bed around 4:30-5:00 and said that Jim had left only about a half hour before.  Silly men.

Sunday morning I was up by 9:30 and decided to mow the lawn since it was needing it pretty badly. I was done by 11.  I heard HDT's alarm going off when I walked in the back door so figured he'd be getting up soon but he just kept hitting the snooze.  I decided to lay down on the bed while waiting for him to get up reading my twitter timeline.  He finally did around 11:30.

I made a turkey sandwich to eat along with a yogurt to tied me over until we went to his grandma's for Easter dinner.  As we were getting ready to leave he got a text from his mom asking if we were on the way since dinner was ready.  When we got there they were still preparing stuff - so - not quite ready.  But that was good since it takes about 15 minutes to get there from our house.

Dinner went well.  Desert was another cake his mom made.  A lemon one in the shape of a butterfly this time.  It was really good.  I just may have to make a lemon cake at some point.

HDT decided to fly his kite so we two, his niece and Poydras went to the field just down from the house.  We were out there for about 15-20 minutes.  Kylie was interested for the first few minutes but then decided whatever Poydras was wanting to get was way more interesting.  But that's ok, HDT and I had a good time.

After going back inside we visited for a little while longer then his sis and niece left.  We stuck around for another hour or so then finally headed home ourselves.

Watched some shows then headed to bed.  Over all a nice visiting weekend.

Little bit of this and a little bit of that

So we went ahead and upgraded our cell phones to the 4s.  We also got one for his mom (she paid us back) and added her to our plan.  HDiTty has been having fun playing with Siri.  I on the other hand keep forgetting she's there so haven't used her once.  Oh well, I'm sure I will one of these days. 

While we were at the Apple store I looked at the cases they had and didn't find anything I liked for myself but found a perfect one for his mom.  She loves all things Paris, France related.  They have a cover that's a black and white picture of the Eiffel Tower and then has a little green VW bug parked in front.  I showed it to HDT to see if he thought she'd like it since I wasn't so sure about it 'cause of the bug.  He thought she would so we bought it as well.

He went over to her place to help her set the phone up and she gave me a call to let me know she was excited that we got the phone (she thought it wouldn't be for a little while longer) and also to thank me for the cover.  She said she loved it and although it was a little green bug and not a little blue mini cooper she was just fine with it.  That it was close enough.  So that made me happy.

We STILL haven't done anything more in the kitchen.  We have such good intentions but are just lazy about it.  One day we'll get there.  The good thing is is that we don't plan on moving any time soon, if ever, so there's no rush.

My job is still going good.  I'm liking it a whole lot.  Totally different from what I used to do and every now and then I feel a little worried that I'm gonna screw something up but at least those thoughts are fleeting.

We'll be moving to a new building this summer and from the little bit I've heard it sounds like we're all going to have our own offices.  Which if that's the case, YIPPEE.  I don't mind too much being out in the middle of everything but there are days that it gets old. 

We shall see.

We saw The Hunger Games on Saturday.  Went with Jim, his sister and her husband.  We both very much enjoyed it.  Now I feel compelled to go get the books and read 'em before the next one comes out.  The whole way home we're all asking Wendy questions since she's the only one who's read 'em.  My big question was was she disappointed with any of the changes.  She said no.  They of course left out some things that she would've liked to have seen but understands that it was for time and they weren't necessary for story to be understood.  Also that Rue was slightly bigger than expected since she's described as small like Prim.  But that didn't really bother her per se just that she didn't expect it.  Although, truthfully, I'd have to see the two girls standing side by side to see a difference because I didn't see where Rue was all that much bigger than Prim.  Ah well.

With all the hate that's being thrown out there about Rue and Thresh being black I was very happy that she didn't say anything at all about the color of her skin.  Not that I knew about any of the hateful stuff before we went.  But after reading the Jezebel site I recalled what she said and it was only about her size, nothing about her being black.

Birthday weekend

So it was my birthday on Sunday.  I'm an old 42 now.  Since it wasn't a milestone birthday and I really didn't care what we did we didn't do much.  Saturday evening we collected Jim and went to see a couple movies.  First was Chronicle, which was a fun movie over all, about as good as expected what with all the twitter love it was gettin.  Then we went to Chili's for dinner then headed up to a different theater to watch Safe House.  Which was actually better than I expected.  I do love me some Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington.

After that we just headed home where we just hung out for little while before Jim went home.  Then HDT and I watched something, can't remember now, until I just couldn't keep my eyes open anymore and crawled into bed around 2:30.

Sunday I got up long enough to let the dog out to do his business, feed him and the cats and then I crawled back into bed for some more sleep/rest.  I woke up fully around 9:30ish or so but lazed in bed reading my twitter feed until just around 11:00 when I started to feel really hungry.

HDT got up while I was making blueberry muffins for brunch.  Then all we did was sit around doing a bunch of nothing all day.  Just started catching up on all our DVR'd shit that's been piling up.

I did get on the treadmill though for a quick walk/jog. Oh yeah, HDT and I are once again trying to be better with the food and exercise.  So far we've been pretty damn good.  It's only been a week but I think this time we'll do much better than other times.  We shall see.

So around 4 I went up to soak in the tub and then get ready to go out to dinner.  I decided on Outback for my steak dinner, mainly because it was the only place I could get garlic mashed potatoes.  Then he surprised me by going to Red Lobster for the worst best dessert ever:

It's their chocolate chip molten cake.  Full of huge calorie goodness.  But I don't care since it was for my birthday.

We went to Walmart afterward to pick up a few needed items and both of us were walking around groaning from our stomachs being so full.  It wasn't until close to 10 that I was finally back to feeling normal. 

A nice relaxing, well entertained and well fed birthday weekend.  Tonight we're supposed to be going over to his grandma's for his mom to make me a birthday dinner.  That'll be nice.

I'm on a sandy beach every time I walk in my kitchen

So the kitchen floor is complete and it looks absolutely terrific.  HDT and Sarge did great.  HDT admits that Sarge did most of the actual laying of the tiles but he still did a lot himself.  He did just about all the cutting needed, of which there was plenty, and a lot of other stuff needed.  The grout is a little lighter than what the color sample on the bag looks but I still like it.  Very, very happy we didn't listen to everyone else and go with a dark color.  It blends in and I see the tiles not the lines.

It's like a sandy beach but without all the sand getting in places it doesn't need to be, love it.  Now we just have to get around to getting the walls prepped and painted.  With us being the King and Queen of Procrastination who knows how long that'll be.  But that's ok, the floor is done and that's the most important part.

They had to take the kitchen door off to do the work and we both agree that it looks better with it open.  It came in handy when we had to lock up Poydras in the kitchen but now that he doesn't chew on things and there's no worry about accidents we don't need it anymore.  And when we need to lock up the cats we can just do it in the bedroom.

I've been wanting to see The Woman in Black ever since I first saw the trailer for it last year.  We finally saw it last night.  We took his mom and she had no idea it even existed.  We all three liked it.  It was a good little creepy movie.  I thought Daniel Radcliffe did very well in it.  I didn't once see Harry Potter which is a really good thing. 

HDT said as soon as it was over that he didn't like it but I think it was just because of the ending, which I of course won't disclose here.  But then as we talked he admitted he did like it.  I, for one, liked the ending.  His mom was making jokes about having to worry about dreaming about the creepy old lady face.  Which I find amusing since she takes care of her mother who has Alzheimer's and has gotten up in the middle of the night a few times.  The good thing is, even though she's an old lady, she's a tiny old lady and as sweet looking as can be.  Not scary in the least.

Weekend update 5/27-30/11

So I just realized I didn't do my weekend update for Memorial Day weekend.  It was pretty good over all.

It was HDT's weekend to work so Friday night we didn't do much as usual.  Just hung out around the house.  Saturday while he was at work I did some grocery shopping and cleaned the house, did some dishes and a couple loads of laundry.

The brothers and Scott's kids came over to watch the UFC fights.  HDT's sister Renee was planning on coming over but ended up not.  She's newly sober so I told all the guys that in honor of that and to help her out we wanted a dry house.  Scott brought a couple beers and Roy did too but they left them in their coolers/car and drank pop and water instead.  When we found out she wasn't coming we let them know they could crack 'em open if they wanted to.  I also let Wayne know his rum was up in the kitchen.  But no one did.  I think mainly because it was already late in the evening and there was only about an hour left anyway of the fights.  And all was well.  So now we know if she decides she wants to come again we know it won't be a big deal.

Sunday I literally sat on my ass the whole day watching a marathon of Lost.  Other than getting up to go to the bathroom, let Poydras out to do so and feed us all I didn't do anything and it felt wonderful.  And even after he got home I continued to do the same thing.

Monday I got up and met mom at the cemetery for a Memorial Day service that lasted about 20 minutes.  Then we visited Les' grave and her parent's grave.  Did a little bit of walking around while she'd point out different markers of people that had been in Les' life. 

Then I headed home to start preparing for her and Jim and his kids to come over for a cookout.  Jim's oldest brought a friend along and mom ended up bringing her brother along as well.

Had a good time with lots of food: burgers, brats, hot dogs, watermelon, pineapple, red grapes, cherries, pasta salad and chips.  Our neighbors came over for a visit as well.  When they saw that we'd be in only half shade they loaned us their canopy.  And it being close to 90 degrees boy did that help a whole helluva lot.  After finding out it only cost about a hundred bucks we decided we'd have to get one for ourselves.

Around 4:30 we started cleaning up.  The neighbors had already gone home and mom and Dale decided to head out as well.  Jim and the girls hung out for about another 15 minutes or so but then left because the friend had to be home by 6:00. 

After they left HDT and I relaxed watching a show or two and then The Switch with Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman.  We both really liked it.  Very cute movie and the kid was absolutely awesome.

Since then we've done our normal weeknight nothingness.  After work we sit around watching tv while he's playing on his computer as usual.  Although last night he worked a couple hours extra and I mowed the lawn.

Weekend Update 5/6-8/11

So this was another busy weekend.  Friday night we decided to go see a movie and Jim came along.  We thought maybe we'd see Thor but since it was opening night it'd be packed so decided on Hanna instead.  HDT and I went to dinner at Chili's first though.  Had a good gut busting dinner and a drink or two then met Jim at the theater. 

For being out for so many weeks now and never a huge hit there were quite a few people in there.  Far more than I expected there to be even for a Friday night.  There were probably just over 20 of us in there.  It was pretty good.  Strange though, not exactly what I was expecting but still good.  It felt like there should've been more too it, not sure what though, just more.

Jim came over afterward and we watched a Doctor Who episode.  Then I headed to bed and I think they played some Madden football or something on line, not sure what.

Saturday we had a group of friends come over around noonish and hung out playing games and bullshitting.  The last one, besides Jim that is, to leave left around 7:30.  Then we three watched Lo.  HDT and I had seen it before quite awhile ago and was telling Jim and the other guy about it and since Jim hadn't ever seen it we decided to watch it.  It's a very low budget "horror" movie that's not really a horror movie but since Lo is a demon it's listed under horror.  Anyway, it's pretty funny and enjoyable in a fucked up sort of way.

After that Jim headed home and HDT and I played backgammon for what we'd be watching next.  We watched an episode each of Doctor Who and Ally McBeal before heading off to bed.  Or at least I headed off to bed, he showed up not long after though.

Sunday we got up and headed out to Walgreens to get all the Mothers' Day cards needed and then waited around until his mom came over at noon.  We made the calls to everyone else before heading out to our favorite chinese place for lunch.  She and I each had a dragon tini (a really really good chocolate martini) and a mai tai with our absolutely delicious food and HDT had a couple long islands with his.  All of us were very pleasantly stuffed with plenty left over for more meals. 

On the way home we stopped off at a second hand/antique shop.  His mother absolutely loves these types of shops and never goes away without getting something.  But I can't say anything, we ended up buying a few things ourselves.  One of the items were a set of shot glasses.  I looked at them, thought they were cute/nice but decided we didn't need anymore and walked away.  A couple minutes or so later when I met up with HDT in another part of the store he was holding something so I look and it's the shot glasses.  Couldn't argue with that so I didn't even try. 

When we got home we decided to watch a movie.  She asked about one that we had told her about before and figured out that it was The Princess Bride so we popped that in and enjoyed that all over again.  And she even stayed awake throughout the whole thing.  She tends to fall asleep during movies.  But she didn't this time and she very much enjoyed it.  Pretty much right after it was done her phone rang and it was a friend she hadn't talked to in quite awhile so she chatted with her for awhile while HDT and I watched some of the extras.  Then she got a call from Jess so she grabbed up her things and headed out to spend the evening with her. 

HDT and I played backgammon again for what we'd be watching.  He kept winning, the brat.  So we watched some Doctor Who's before turning into bed just before 10 o'clock.

Weekend Update 4/22-24/11

So, let's see, it was another busy weekend here in peanuthead land.  Friday right after I got off work I hurried and changed and then HDT and I went to our friend's home for dinner and also to go to their church's Good Friday services. 

Since it would be pushing it for time we actually just had some flat bread and chatted for a little while before heading out to church.  The services were very simple but nice and other than the repetitiveness of the songs I enjoyed those as well.  Afterward we headed over to the house for dinner.  She had made some pasta and a salad.  She actually made her own noodles too, they were pretty darn good and I had brought brownies for desert.  We had a great time just visiting and having good food.  We finally made it out of there a little after 1am and made it home shortly before 2. 

HDT tried to convince me to stay up to watch a show but I was just too damn tired and besides we had to get up and out of the house by noonish the next day to take Jim out for his birthday lunch.  So I went to bed and he followed about an hour or so later. 

We took him to our favorite Chinese food place for a terrific lunch.  He'd never been there and was very pleased with his food so HDT and I were happy about that.  We got home shortly after 2 and I headed right back out to go to the grocery store to pick up pop and some snacks for the evening's festivities.  Got home and put everything away and proceeded to clean with HDT helping.  I also made a couple batches of brownies.  One batch was left in the pan as that was going to be Jim's birthday "cake". 

The couple that we had been with the night before came over, got there just after 7:30.  We ordered dinner and played Wise or Otherwise.  We were just finishing dinner and were almost to the end of the game when one of HDT's coworkers came over as well.  She also brought a couple games to play.  Once our one game was done we played one of the ones she brought - Snorta

I've never heard of this game before but I gotta say it was a lot of fun.  I can only imagine how it'd be if we had been drinking a lot.  A couple of us had a couple of Mike's hard lemonades but with all the food absorbing them there wasn't much of a negative consequence.  But I can certainly imagine what it would be like tipsy let alone drunk.

During the middle of it Jess came by after she got off of work.  Then after the game the couple had to leave, they had an early morning at their church. 

I grabbed the brownie pan and put 40 candles on them for Jim to blow out.  Passed out brownies and ice cream to everyone and we chatted for awhile while eating.  Then the coworker had to go home, she wasn't feeling well so didn't want to stay up too late.  We tried to convince Jess to stay for another game but she took off as well.

So we three who were left played one more game then called it a night.  I went to bed and HDT followed about an hour later.

Sunday we slept in pretty late.  I took a bath while he went on line until I got out then took his shower.  We made it to his dad's house for Easter dinner shortly after 2:00.  Had dinner while watching the Cub's game, which they proceeded to lose.  After the game we decided to watch Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  Watched a few of the extras after it and then headed home for the night around 7pm.

We had dinner and watched a couple Bones then I went to bed and followed about an hour or so after.  Long weekend but a good one.

So HDT and I decided to go see Scream 4 last night.  HDT thought it was ok, he wasn't disappointed but wasn't thrilled with it either.  I enjoyed it.  Sure, there wasn't as much "story" as there was in the others but I still thought it played well. 

Without giving anything away:  While watching a commercial one night last week I turned to HDT and said I think "that person" is Ghostface or at least one of the ghostfaces as the other movies had more than one.  He asked why and I told him because they're not doing what I'd expect them to do in that situation and because of this other scene.  He wasn't sure what to think, could be any number of reasons for doing/not doing what they were doing/not doing.  Turns out I was right though. 

Throughout the movie every now and then someone else would look good to be it or at least one of them if there did turn out to be more than one killer.  But I still believed the person I picked in the commercial was the best candidate.

But I gotta say I really like Hayden Panettiere's haircut.  That short hair looks really, really good on her.  And Emma Roberts does look good for playing a cousin of Neve Campbell, heck they could even play sisters. 

And when Cougar Town with Courteney Cox started last fall we gave it a shot and I gotta say it really bugged me to see that she had work done to her face.  We gave up on the show so I sort of forgot how bad she was looking.  So when she came on screen all huge with those ugly protruding lips sticking out I actually flinched a little.  Why oh why do people have to disfigure themselves.  Just age gracefully already.  Geesh.

Weekend Update 4/15-17/11

So this was another fairly busy weekend even though HDiTty had to work.  Friday night we didn't do much except hang out and watch Date Night.  It was silly but it was fun, pretty enjoyable really.

Saturday he had to work all day - 16 hours, from 6am to 10pm so I was going to do a Lost Season 6 marathon but then decided I better not because I really did have things that needed to be done.

First I got on the elliptical.  I've been pretty good with the exercising this week.  Soaked for a bit in the tub then got ready to go get Kylie's birthday gift exchanged.  She's into Tangled right now and we bought her the dress but someone else had already bought it (turned out to be HDT's mom) so I took it back and exchanged it for the wig.  Grabbed some lunch from Pizza Hut (bad, bad I know) and took it back home to eat.  Watched a show while eating then made myself get off my ass and go clean the kitchen which has been needing it for some time now.  We tend to pile things up, most of it was mail and magazines though so not too bad.  Did the dishes as well. 

I also finally did our taxes, yes we are THAT bad with the procrastination.  Found some of the bills needed for our Flex Com to be fixed and also grabbed last years tax return to prove I did claim the 408k money I took out while I was out of work.

After all that it was now after 6pm, maybe even closer to 7 and I decided I'd reward myself with sitting on the couch watching a movie.  I decided on Underworld: Rise of the Lycons.  After it was done I switched back to tv and started scrolling through the guide and in less than 5 minutes the same movie was going to start on one of the channels.  I was amused.

There wasn't much on so I settled on Forensic Files and was watching that when HDT walked in the door close to 10:30.  He stayed up for about an hour so we continued watching the Files until he went to bed.  I went with him but sat up in bed reading for about a half hour until I felt tired enough to sleep.

Sunday I decided to take a day off from exercising and just had some breakfast while watching Temple Grandin.  Good movie, I can totally see why Claire Daines won so many awards for it.  The tears ran down my face more than once I might add. 

After it was over I soaked in the tub reading for a little while then got ready to go back out to get Jenn's birthday gift and card.  HDT got out of work early to be able to go to Kylie's birthday party that started at 2:30.  After meeting him at home and getting the presents wrapped we headed out the door around 3:45.  I'm glad I didn't go on time without him because everyone was just finishing eating when we walked in the door which means an hour and half of just sitting around watching the kids run around. 

After we finished our plates they had the cake and ice cream then the presents were opened.  Kylie very much liked the Rapunzel wig and the reading book we also gave and liked the soundtrack cd even more.  So the presents were a hit which is always good.

He made a few copies of the cd so Kylie could actually handle it without ruining the original and we could have a copy of it when she comes over.  Not long after the cd's were done copying we headed home.

He got on the computer and I turned on Netflix instant and we proceeded to watch some Buffy's for the rest of the evening until we went up to bed around 11.

Weekend Update 4/8-10/11

So this weekend was a movie weekend, no doubt about it. 

Friday evening after I got off work we were going to go and return a pair of jeans that didn't quite fit HDT, have some dinner and see a movie, probably Hanna but possibly Your Highness.  But after looking at the receipt and seeing that we have 60 days to return them and I mentioned maybe seeing matinees the next day to save some money we decided to stay home for the night.

So we kept debating on what to have for dinner, still order out or make something at home.  We decided to eat what we had, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.  And HDT put in The Godfather for the movie.  We watched it before but it's been probably a couple years at least since we did and wow I didn't remember much of it at all.  Certain scenes were familiar but mostly because they're the scenes one sees when watching shows about movies not because I was remembering them from last time.  We had to keep stopping it throughout because of phone calls or when HDT had to check on his mom's computer that he was fixing or because of the animals.  It's a long movie to begin with and it took us probably an extra hour to watch it because of the stoppage, basically it took all night.  I don't think we stayed up too much later after it was done.

Saturday we got up mid morning and headed out the door with just 30 minutes to get to the feed store where we get the pet food.  Walked in the door with just a couple minutes to spare before closing.  The whole way there HDT kept saying how many minutes we had to get there.  Was quite amusing really.  I knew we'd be fine.

We were debating on what to have for lunch/breakfast and decided on Chili's.  And while eating we decided to watch a whole different movie than the two we were gonna see the night before.  Adjustment Bureau was playing at the theater near the restaurant but not at the place we were gonna go to.  We were still trying to work out being able to see at least one of them along with AB, preferably Hanna, but time lines just wouldn't work. 

We had a couple hours before it was to start so we walked around Toys-R-Us to find Kylie's birthday present and then headed home to drop everything off and meet Jim who had called while we were shopping.  So once he got there we headed out to the movie which was really good I might add.  Very glad we got to see it in the theater too.  There were some great shots of the city (New York) that looked really good on the big screen.

After that we headed home and debated what to do.  Since it was just us three we decided to just hang out and watch some more movies.  It's been a long time since HDT and I saw Tombstone and Jim has never actually seen it from start to finish.  He's seen the whole thing but always in bits and pieces.  And we just bought it on blue-ray and wanted to see how good it would look so that won out over everything else we had.  After that we decided to watch Scream since number four is coming out this weekend.  But just after Drew's death scene Jim left because he just exhausted and wouldn't be able to stay awake for it.  HDT and I finished it and afterward I went to bed.  He came up not long after. 

We had decided to go see the matinees of Hanna and Your Highness on Sunday but after waking up and getting a migraine shortly after I wasn't up for it much.  And since we spent so much money on Saturday it just made sense to skip the movies and hang out at home where I could just rest and not have to move too much.  We decided to watch Godfather II and III.  Although we liked both I don't see why II is considered a better movie than I.  Oh well, to each his own.

So that was our movie filled weekend.  I liked it all except for the damn migraine.  For which I had to finally breakdown and take one of the max-alts when I went to bed since the ibuprofen wasn't working.

Weekend Update 3/25-27/11 Including Monday the 28th

So this weekend was pretty good.  Friday night on my way home from work I gave HDiTty a call as usual and he said that Jim and Pat were on their way over to go out to the movies.  Jim's been wanting to take us to a movie for our birthdays since he didn't get us anything for them.

I was pretty tired and didn't want to go anywhere but I really wanted to see Paul so I said as long as I didn't have to drive I was game.  Pat ended up not coming because he said Paul wasn't worth seeing in the theater for all the money that would be spent.  He can't go to see a movie without buying a large popcorn and large drink.  Whatever.

So we three started debating on what other movie we could go see that would include Pat but after reading what we did about Suckerpunch we decided it wouldn't be worth seeing.  Besides Pat is also of the vein that women can't fight so he doesn't like those kinds of films anyway.  And there wasn't anything else that really held our interest enough to see now rather than waiting for DVD's

So we decided we'd just go out to dinner and then come back to the house to hang out there and go to the matinee on Saturday.  Jim tried to get ahold of him to let him know and see if a matinee would be better since it's saving a little bit of money anway and to see if he'd like to go to dinner at least but he couldn't reach him.  We still ended up going out to Chili's anyway.  Had a good meal then came back home.  But before all that we headed out to Best Buy so HDT could buy some new game called Rift that so many of the online friends are playing now.

When we got home from dinner those two went to start the game and realized that they needed to upgrade his dvd player.  So luckily with all the spare computers sitting around he was able to find a player that worked and get it hooked up.  Took awhile but finally they had it.  After they did that we put in The IT Crowd Season 2 to watch.  One of the shows wouldn't play no matter what we did but all the rest were just fine.  I went to bed shortly after it was over with and HDT came to bed a few hours later. 

Saturday I got up just before 10 I think it was.  Ate a peanut butter sandwich and had an 8oz glass of chocolate milk.  Set my timer for 30 minutes to let it all settle before doing the burst exercise on the treadmill like I did last Saturday.  I wasn't able to do as well as last week, 30 seconds less, but at least I did a whole workout anyway.  I just continued to walk at a fast pace and I also inclined for awhile.

I took a nice soak afterward and while in the tub HDT woke up.  He said he was to call Jim around 1ish to see about going to the 2pm Paul showing.  We ended up skipping that because everyone was moving so slowly.  But he got over to our house just before 3:00 and we all ate our breakfast/lunches then headed out for the 4:40 showing.

Really fun movie, ton of references to other movies.  I'm sure we didn't catch them all.  It's a lot "bloodier" than I thought it ever would be.  But still a really good, fun movie.

After we stopped off at the grocery store to pick up a few things and decided to grill out some steaks for dinner.  Really good meal, nice and tasty.

I am drawing a complete blank on what we watched.  Oh that's right, it was Fight Night on Spike.  They had a free UFC showing.  Had some pretty good fights too.  After that I believe they went onto the computer to play some more of the Rift game.  I think I just watched a recorded show or two and then headed up to bed.  I was pretty darn tired.

Sunday we were really, really lazy.  We did nothing but watch more Buffy's on Netflix Instant and did some laundry.  That was it.  But it felt nice that's for sure.

Yesterday I decided I'd get on the elliptical after we had dinner.  Just being on there guilted HDT to get on the treadmill.  But since he didn't have tennis shoes on he couldn't jog at all.  So he went to get those while I did my second burst.  He had just come back downstairs when I finished it and he asked how I felt about taking this show on the road.  I agreed but checked how many calories I burned first, I just hit 101, very happy about that.  So I put on my jacket and we put the harness on Poydras and headed out. 

The route we take around our neighborhood is just under 1 mile.  We jogged about a 1/4 or maybe even a 1/3 of it in spurts.  Couldn't call it bursts because it wasn't all out but I was still completely winded after each jog.  Today my neck, shoulders and back are a little stiff but otherwise I feel good.

Weekend Update 1/28-30/11

So, let's see. I can't think of anything we did on Friday night so I'm thinking we did our usual catching up on shows while HDiTty also played WOW.

Nope, I remember now. We went to a wake for one of his coworkers that passed away. I got out a little early so we could be there as close to 5:00 as possible since that's when it started. We got there around 5:30 or so and left around 6:40 or so. Stopped off at a little Italian restaurant to pick up dinner and then headed home. Spent the rest of the evening watching tv and him playing WOW. He had to get to bed at a decent hour though since he was working over time at 6:00am until ?.

Saturday morning I got up later than usual and then hopped in the tub - as usual. Wasn't in there for 15 minutes when HDT called to say he was on his way home and see if I had called my mom yet. I hadn't, so he got her on the phone and let her know we couldn't do The King's Speech on Sunday because of a scheduling conflict and would she like to go today. She did so we picked her up and went.

That is one terrific movie. There were times that it seemed like HDT, mom and I were the only ones laughing. Not sure if it's that the others just didn't get the joke, that it went too fast for them, or because of the accent they didn't understand. At any rate, we three really enjoyed it and now I'm torn on what should win best picture - it or True Grit. The King's Speech is more in line with what the Academy seems to like. Especially since True Grit is pretty harsh with the killings. But it's just as good. I guess I'll be just as happy if either one wins.

After the movie we went to a late lunch/early dinner at BWW. Dropped her off after that and then met up with a couple friends in town to go to a different theater to see The Mechanic. Which was much better than I expected it to be. HDT let me know it was a remake, he had seen the original. But while watching it he forgot that it was until the very end when he saw a note to one of the characters and then it hit him again. Kinda funny since it was at the very beginning of the movie that he said it was a remake.

Jim came over and Pat went home afterward. Jim wanted to see something that HDT was doing on WOW. The guy that played the Bishop in The King's Speech was an actor that neither HDT nor I could place until he looked him on IMDB. We both kept seeing him as an evil guy and found out that he had been in Underworld. I thought he had said the first one so when we got home I put that in to watch since he was on WOW anyway. After he was done doing whatever it was that he was doing he and Jim came over to the couch and chair to finish watching the movie with me. Found out that HDT had said it was the second movie the guy is in.

But after it was done we decided to watch something else. Ordered dinner, watched a couple IT Crowd shows for Jim to see them and then decided to watch Pulp Fiction because both of them kept quoting it. Both HDT and I headed up to bed right after.

Sunday we got up and got ready to go get his youngest nephew's present and pick up his grandma to go to the birthday party. He turned two and he's just as cute as can be.

The afternoon was spent there having a good time then we dropped of grandma and headed home a little after 6:00pm. Made dinner, put in a load of laundry and proceeded to watch the SAG awards. So happy Modern Family won for best cast, especially since the actors that were nominated individually didn't. After the awards we watched the end of the Pro Bowl, disappointed that we didn't get to see Drew play. It was so close to the end of the game and NFV were so far ahead that the few times he was on the field he just kneeled the ball. Oh well.

HDT went to bed shortly after that was over and I finished my book then went to sleep.

Weekend Update 12/30 - 1/2/11

So Thursday we got out of work early at 3:00. Well, by the time I finished what I was doing at the time we were told we could go and then cleaning up my desk it was actually 3:20 that I got out of there. Anyway, HDiTty and I had planned on meeting up with our friend Pat and going to see a movie. Since I got out early we confirmed with him that he was ready to go and we picked him up then went out for dinner at a Chinese restaurant that we don't get to very often since it's a decent drive away. All of us had an excellent dinner and HDT and I had enough left over for another meal or two each.

After that we headed out to go see True Grit. That is one excellent movie I must say. I've never read the book it's based on nor have I seen the original movie with The Duke. And I probably never will see that one as I don't really care for John Wayne. But what I've read of this remake it's closer to the book anyway so why would I want to see the other? Anyway, everyone in it is really good and the girl (Hailee Steinfeld) was absolutely wonderful.

Since none of us were tired and True Grit got out with enough time we decided to go see Tron Legacy in 3D as well. Which was ok, but I didn't expect much from it anyway as the original was pretty darn bad/campy. But I definitely liked seeing Michael Sheen, his character was a lot of fun to watch.

After that we took him home and hung out for a little bit until both HDT and I started to get really tired so we headed on home.

Friday after we got up and had some breakfast I got ready to go do some well needed shopping and HDT went into work to complete some projects he needed to do. After putting away the groceries, ect. I decided I'd start in on the tree since I didn't know when HDT was getting home and I wanted as much as possible off it. I couldn't help myself, Jersey Shore was on the tv when I turned it on and I got sucked into the ridiculousness of it all. But it was like a train wreck, I just couldn't look away.

Anyway, I put a sheet down in the middle of the room and had to sort of lift/drag the tree on to it since the base still had water in it. By the time I got all the ornaments and lights off it seemed like there were more needles on the sheet/floor than there were on the tree. That is one dry tree. Since I couldn't take it out of the stand by myself I left it there and started to do some other cleaning. I had texted HDT at one point to find out when he'd be home and he didn't have a clue so when my stomach started growling I heated up my Chinese and had dinner while still watching Jersey Shore.

Pretty much at the same time I was finishing my meal HDT gave a call to say he was on his way home and Jim was following him. So they took the tree the rest of the way down and out to the curb wrapped in the old shower curtain HDT had just changed and the sheet I had put it on. Both of them were hungry so I heated up his left over Chinese for them. Then as they were eating they started to talk about what we'd watch and since we didn't finish Resident Evil: Extinction the other night we decided we'd watch that. Then Jim said that the 4th one - Resident Evil: Afterlife should have been released on Tuesday. I went online to check and sure enough it was out. So HDT called up Walmart to make sure they had it before we went all the way out there and they did so we went all the way out there.

And of course while there we did a little more shopping, including getting Southern Comfort which is what HDT prefers to do shots of. Since we already have Jaeger for me and Rumplemintz for Jim we were set. When we had walked in the doors of the store there was a display of freshly baked bread which triggered the "I want a sandwich" switch in the guys' brains so we grabbed a loaf of it and the guys chose what meat they wanted and then we did the rest of the shopping. By the time we got home it was 11:30.

I grabbed everything needed to make the sandwiches and brought it downstairs while the guys set up the table. We decided to play a game: Munchkin Bites while eating. During that it turned midnight so we did a shot of Jaeger, then SoCo then Rumplemintz. The Rumplemintz almost made me hurl, the others I had absolutely no problem with. I took a couple bites of the bread (I was not having any sandwiches - still too full) and that helped settle everything down. At midnight mountain time we had a Hanging Nazi shot (1/2 Jaeger and 1/2 Rumplemintz) that went down a little easier.

After we finished the game we finished watching Extinction then put in Afterlife. I was ready for bed within the first 10 minutes. HDT was ready as well, Jim was gonna stay behind to finish it, told him to lock up when he left. But then as I was getting ready to get up something in the movie caught HDT's eye and he ended up staying up to watch the whole movie.

Saturday we slept in late and then were lazy for most of the day watching tv. At one point Wayne texted me about the UFC fights so we decided to go ahead and get it. So I then texted all the rest of the brothers to let them know. Mom called me pretty much right after that since she knew I was at the least near my phone (Roy lives with her). While talking to her Jason called and Wayne texted back. HDT also gave Jim a call to see if he'd come over to help him with the tv and other electronic crap that I hate working on with him.

While they did that I cleaned up the kitchen. They realized they needed some things from Home Depot so they ran out to do that and while there HDT saw a rug that he really wanted so he got it. It is gorgeous, dark colors and leaves all over. So I'm really happy with it too. While they were finishing up Scott and his son showed up and then not long after that Wayne did. We quickly finished straightening up and then settled down to watch the Prelims. Jason and Roy showed up just before, maybe just after, the main fights started. Amazingly enough, for a card that didn't have any real big fighters going at it, although there was a title fight, and we almost didn't get because of that reason it ended up being really good. And not just because I was feeling good after having a mudslide either.

After the fights everyone left but Jim. I went to bed just after one and when I woke up some time later I noticed HDT still hadn't come to bed. I look at the clock and it's almost 7:00. I texted him "srsly" and he comes back asking me to come downstairs. I confirmed Jim was gone (only in my sleepshirt and panties) and went down. As I walked through the living room I see that they had brought the old rug up and put it in there (looks good) and the old green rug was now in the kitchen in front of the sink. The new rug had been put down along with the small new rug that matched it was at the bottom of the stairs. Also he had straightened out the DVD's and did a little more as well.

After telling him that he did a great job, that I really like the new rug and fed and watered and bathroom breaked the dog/cats I went back to bed. He came up shortly after. I set the alarm to make sure we wouldn't sleep too late and miss the kick off of the Saints game at noon. I ended up waking up at 9:45 and couldn't go back to sleep although I stayed in bed petting the cat and dog until almost 11:00.

I finally got up and started making bacon and eggs for breakfast. At 11:35 I woke up HDT for his first alarm. Then his own alarm kicked in about 11:45. We watched the sad, sad game but still not a big deal that they lost since Atlanta won theirs. Then we turned on the Bears/Packers game. I got a little bored with it so didn't pay that much attention to it. Then a little after 5:00 I made us dinner. We watched a 48 Hours Mystery that had been in our DVR since November. After that it was close to the time for the night game, which would determine who the Saints will be meeting in the playoffs next week. Turns out it'll be Seattle, which should be, knock on wood, a fairly easy enough game. At least it shouldn't be a struggle as so many of them have been lately.

It was a pretty boring game but HDT did more cleaning/decorating of the basement while I continued to read the last Dark Tower book and help him on and off. I must say, he did a really good job. Although it's not the "grown up" living room I'd like it is a "grown up sports room." Heh

Weekend Update 12/17-19/10

So this weekend was really, really good. One of the best we've had in a while, although busy it was a lot of fun.

Friday after work I had a couple quick errands to run and when I was at the last traffic light before the house HDT texts me that the food is getting cold. HE MADE DINNER! Yippee!! So I get there and he's downstairs with a couple burgers and the soda all ready to go. We quickly ate and chatted for a bit then headed out to the local theater to meet up with friends since we were seeing Tangled. Which I have to say was a lot more fun then I expected it to be. I mean I've read some decent reviews of it and the commercials were ok but I just didn't expect a whole lot more than cute from it. But the songs were good, the story was fun and moved along and the animation was really good, especially the facial expressions on the horse. Everyone loved it including the 49 year old cynical man that was with us.

After that we all went our separate ways; HDT and I went home. But not long after Jim came over to help HDT work on the computers that we're giving his two sisters. I bought them from my work when we upgraded and they just needed to clean them up and upgrade a few things and they'll be all good to go as gifts. While they did that I went and got all warm in the tub while reading. Then sat all warm in the bed reading some more before finally going to sleep a little after midnight. I believe HDT came to bed around 4ish.

Saturday I got up at 9 and started getting ready. At 9:15 I started in on trying to wake him up. Finally around 9:45 he was ready to get up. I finished getting ready and he got ready and we were out of the house and at the first store by 11:30. We decided to start out at Target and ended up getting all but 4 people completed there. How happy were we!?! Jim met us there to help with his oldest daughter's gifts. We wanted to get her clothes but needed to make sure of sizes and get his opinion on a couple of them whether she'd like them or not. He was also getting a cd from us, don't remember what it was though, and his youngest daughter's hat that she left at our place.

Then we all went to lunch and rested up a bit before HDT and I headed back out. We went to a hobby shop to try to find a specific game to give to one of my nieces but unfortunately they had just sold the one they had just two days before. So we got her a couple other games and headed out to Best Buy where we found an iPad holder for his dad then headed over to Toys R Us where we got a leapfrog item for HDT's youngest nephew. And then we were all done because the 4th person is my mom and we're getting her a plant from Home Depot to go with the other stuff we already got for her. But since it's a plant we didn't want to get it yet since we don't know if it'll be harmful to the cats or not and don't want to take a chance. So we'll go get it either Thursday night or Friday morning on the way to her place.

Oh yeah, we also still had to find a $5 gift for a female for some game that my mom is wanting to play with everyone. We need a female and male gift in the $5 range. We already have a really nice deck of cards that we'll use for the guys. We were going to give it to Jim but since we bought him Madden 2010 for the Xbox he's all set.

On our way home HDT called Jim up to see if he wanted to come hang out to watch a movie and when he got there I was heading back out because I had to go to Walgreens for a prescription. While there I found some really warm and fuzzy socks that they had 2 for $3 so I bought 4 of them to use for the female gift. Then I had to run over to the grocery store for the frozen orange juice I was going to need for the frosting for the carrot cookies I planned on baking on Sunday. And while there I decided to get some ice cream from Baskin' Robbins just down the sidewalk. When I was on my way home I glanced at the clock, it was 7:30, we had pretty much been going nonstop for 8 hours. Whew!

By the time I got back home they were working on the computer we planned on giving to Jenn. So I peeled, cut up and started boiling the carrots for the cookies tomorrow and by the time I got downstairs while the carrots were starting to cook they had decided what to have for dinner (Popeyes) and went to get it. I stayed home and flipped channels until I found Miracle on 34th Street (the original) and watched it until they got home. Then we decided to watch Resident Evil 3 on and off while they were continuing the upgrades to the computer. But after the last install was all done both HDT and I were pretty well exhausted and since he had to go to work for 4 hours overtime at 6am we called it quits for the night.

I woke up around 8:30 and saw that he'd been calling me since 8:00. But I don't have the ringer on my phone very loud and had slept through them all. Gave him a call back and the after snuggled in the bed petting Poydras until I finally made myself get up around 9:00. Took care of the animal's needs and then did my Sunday morning ritual of soaking in the tub while reading. I was going to start in on the cookies before the game was to start but by the time I was finished with the bath and getting dressed and all I decided it wasn't worth it because there's no way they'd all be done cooking before noon and I didn't want to have to keep leaving the room and not being able to watch.

So I just watched some tv while waiting for HDT to get home which he did a little before noon. I made us lunch and we proceeded to watch the game. Jess was supposed to come over to watch it as well but ended up not getting there until almost the end of the 3rd quarter. She was coming over to watch it and wrap presents. But HDT was working on another computer while the game was going on so no wrapping of gifts happened.

After the game I headed upstairs to start in on the cookies, not sure exactly what they were doing in the basement but at some point Jess got all the gifts she was giving out spread out on the table. But before she was able to start boxing things up they decided to get us dinner. I was on my third batch of cookies by then. And by the time they got home I was taking the last tray out of the oven to let cool. I ate my dinner and chatted with them for a little longer then when upstairs to start frosting the 1st batch which had cooled completely by then. When I was finally all done frosting it was after 8:30. I was one tired girl.

I had to lock the cats up at one point because both were trying to get at the cookies. Cry Baby actually did. He nommed on two of them and dropped two others. Was not a happy momma. But between those 4 and the ones HDT, Jess and I had I made around 155 cookies. No wonder it took over 5 hours to complete. This is why these cookies only get made once a year and are so coveted by my family.

Afterward I went downstairs to visit for awhile. Jess had almost finished boxing up all her presents, she just had a few more to go. HDT was finishing up on the computer as well. After he was done with that he started organizing some of the jewelry we had bought for several of the nieces and by then Jess had started in on boxing up the clothes we had bought for gifts. I also did a little bit of laundry while chatting with them. Finally around 10:30 or so I couldn't take it anymore and headed up to bed. HDT finally came up just before midnight.

Jess stayed up till around 2am and then hunkered down on our couch for the rest of the night. She was still there when HDT got up at 5:00 to get ready for work. She was still there when I got up 2 hours later. I figured he would've woken her up and she would've left because I thought she was supposed to get Kylie by 8:00 but oh well. I didn't wake her up either, figured she knew what she was doing.

When I went home for lunch she was still there finishing the wrapping and Kylie was with her. So after eating I visited with them for bit before heading back to work.

Yep, really busy but got a lot accomplished and had fun doing it.

Weekend Update 8/27-29/10 - It's a long one!

Friday night we debated going to see a movie and then decided not to, can't remember why though. Can't really remember what we did that night either. We must have just decided to stay home and watch some more shows from the DVR while he played his online game.

Saturday while eating breakfast I decided to check the time for Avatar since we never did see it when it came the first time around nor did we see it on DVD. There was a showing at 2:00 so I asked him if he wanted to go see it and he did but he wanted to do a few errands before hand.

Oh wait, now I know what we did Friday night. He had some shirts to take back to the store that he decided he didn't want anymore, he had bought them for his trip to Texas at the beginning of the month. And of course while we were there we looked for some others that weren't dressy that he'd be able to wear while we're in New Orleans. He returned 3 shirts and got 3 shirts and a pair of shorts. So rather than get some cash back we ended up spending more money. Oh well. But he had to take back a small carry on bag that he had also bought to take to Texas but ended up not using so he did that first. I thought it was only around $35.00, don't know why I thought, just did; but it was actually $85.00. So that ended up paying for his clothes so that was wash at least.

After those things we were going to go to the Apple store to take back a wireless mouse he had bought while he was in Texas but then realized he didn't like so much. But by the time we were done with the clothes it was too late to go there. So we we decided to go get some dinner. We were going to go find a Chili's but before we did we saw a Famous Dave's which we've never been to and several people have told us we need to go to. We told our waiter we'd never been there before so he went through all the sauces with us and gave us some fries to try them out. And then next thing we know we're being told we'll be getting a free bottle of whichever sauce we could agree on. And then during dinner another person comes up to us and hands us an envelope with all kinds of things in it. I got the rib tips with garlic mashed potatoes and spicy green beans and they came with fries and a corn bread muffin. A lot of food but all very good. HDT got a burger with a slightly spicier sauce than I got. We both really like everything and agreed we'd be back again.

So back to Saturday, we got ready and were gonna start heading to the Apple store when he decided to get his oil changed instead. It was one of the items on our todo list but I figured with time being an issue we should do the Apple store first but since we weren't far from the oil change place he figured we could get in and out right away. Which we did but then he decided to go to an auto store to look at air filters. Then we had to go to another one because the 1st store didn't have what he wanted. By the time we were walking out of there it was almost noon and we still hadn't left town to go to the Apple store. Which is about a 40 minute drive south from our town. I was starting to get a little perturbed and basically just decided to resolve myself to the fact that we wouldn't be seeing the movie after all on Saturday and maybe we'll see it on Sunday. On our way down he said something about once we leave the Apple store we'll head over to the IMAX theater and hopefully be able to get some lunch before the movie because he was starving. I said I had no idea when it was starting there if they even had it. He thought when I told him 2:00 that it was that theater I was talking about and I told him no that it was the Cinemark one that we always go to which is a 20 minute drive north of our house. Which is why I figured we wouldn't be seeing it that afternoon.

He really wanted to see it on IMAX so I tried to find out if they had it and if not on IMAX at least in 3D on a regular screen. The damn links kept taking me to another Regal cinema in a completely different town that doesn't have IMAX. I got so frustrated that I gave up and we decided we just head over there after the Apple store. Which is what we did. They didn't have it on IMAX but they did have it at 2:40. It was 1:40 so we had enough time to go over to Red Robin to get a bite to eat. Where our waiter was one of the best we'd ever had. He was bringing replacement cokes before HDT was even finished with the glass he had. And kept asking me every time he came back if I wanted a refill. I let him know I didn't and then told him if I needed to I'd just drink out of HDT's. He said he felt bad that he couldn't get me a refill, it was kind of amusing but very nice.

Avatar was ok, after all the hype we were expecting this wonderfully awesome spectacular blow us away movie. Yeah, not so much. Don't get me wrong, the 3D and cgi visuals were absolutely beautiful but the movie itself was just good. We've seen pretty much all of it before and although I knew it had a "message" and was political I didn't expect it to be shoving it down our throats which it did for the most part. Sure there were parts that brought a tear to my eyes but again, nothing we haven't seen before. And it was 3 hours long, I completely forgot it was that long. Although to be honest it moved along pretty well so it didn't seem that bad. I was actually surprised when I saw the time.

After that we headed home, had some dinner and then took out the garbage and recycles and did a quick swipe down of the bathroom since the family and his friend Jim were coming over to watch the UFC fights. There were a few good ones and a few duds but as always the company was fun so it was a good night.

I went to bed pretty much right after while HDT and Jim stayed up to play on their game. He had plans to head over to his friend Pat's house Sunday morning at 10:00 as usual. At 4:30 when I woke up and realized he still wasn't in bed I texted him telling he better get some sleep. I think he came up around 5:30. We got up a little after 9:00 and right after he finished getting ready and was about to walk out the door the phone rings. It's Pat and the gathering has been canceled for various reasons.

So we ate some breakfast and then I went to take a bath while he played online. I got ready and we the left to do more errands. I had to buy a sympathy card for a cousin that died awhile ago. My mom was going to be sending a package to the wife/family and she asked us kids if we wanted to contribute. I figured a little bit of cash (the wife didn't work so money is tighter than normal) and nice sympathy card would do. Plus we had to take some cash out to pay my brother Roy for helping to cut down the tree. And since he lives with mom we'd be able to take care of both those easy enough. We visited for a little while and the left to go to the pet store because HDT wanted to get a harness for Poydras to use while in the cars. After that we headed up home to freshen up a bit and then went to the funeral home for a wake for another cousin that just passed away last week. We stood in line for over an hour to spend 5 minutes giving our condolences. But I believe it would've been noticed if at least I hadn't shown up since the mom was one of the cousins on the reunion committee.

On the way home we stopped off and got groceries, then went home and made dinner and then I flopped on the couch and he flopped in his computer chair and we vegged for the rest of the night watching the Emmies. I was very, very happy that Jim Parsons won for best comedy actor for The Big Bang Theory. Love him!! Happy a few other new names won but disappointed that so many of the same shows/people won again. Very disappointed that Lost didn't win anything, they at least should have won for best Drama show but no Mad Men had to win again. Whatever.

Weekend Update 8/13-15/10

So, this was a mix of out and about and stay at home and do nothing weekend. Friday night despite a couple movies opening up that we want to see we opted to stay home. He played WOW while I mowed the lawn. Then, while he continued to play WOW I watched the extras on Grey's Anatomy Season 4 and then Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I haven't seen that movie for ages, such a good one.

Saturday we both got up a little before 9:00. He had to work some overtime 10:00 - 2:00 and I had some shopping that needed doing. Our electric toothbrush had died several months ago when I was still out of work so I just bought some cheep brushes. But since it's time to replace them now and I'm working I decided to go ahead and get us some electric ones again. Looking at the prices of them are daunting but they're really good for you so I decided to get the kind we had before. I could've sworn the price tag said $89.00. It wasn't till I'm on my way home that it dawned on me how much my total was and I thought that there's no way it should've been that high. Yeah, turns out the brush is actually $189.00. Yeah, that sucker is going back, especially since I paid with the debit card, I may be working but we still don't need to spend that kind of money on an electric toothbrush.

HDT ended up getting out a half hour early and we and a few of his coworkers were to go out to lunch afterward but all but one of them ended up bailing on us. But that was ok, we three went to BWW and had a good lunch. Afterward she went home and HDT and I started in on Grey's Anatomy Season 5. After a few of those it was time to leave to go to our Village's annual celebration. There was an 80's cover band playing two sets with the fireworks in between. We met up with a few my brothers to watch. For the first several songs everyone was just sitting around watching except for a lady and her 2 yo. But after awhile a few chicks started dancing here and there.

After the fireworks, which were pretty damn awesome, on our way back to our seats at the bandstand we ran into a few old friends and then some of HDT's coworkers so we stopped and chatted with them. It was probably a good 1/2 hour before we finally made it back to our seats and by that time enough people had had enough to drink that there were plenty of people dancing. One older guy kept getting up on stage to dance. At one point it even looked like his zipper was going down, there was white where there shouldn't have been. That was amusing but he was annoying. They finally kicked him off and then he proceeds to get back up there the very next song and again they have to kick him off. Then during their encore song he does it again but they shooed him off right away.

Sunday he went to his friend's house to hang out for the day and I finished Eclipse and started in on Breaking Dawn. I had read the first three books of the series before but never did get to the fourth. One of HDT's coworkers had loaned me the first three but since the fourth was her sister's she didn't feel comfortable loaning that one to me. Which I find amusing considering I've met her sister/gone to the movies with her (in a group setting) several times. But whatever. So it's been over a year since I've read them and while looking through the books of the book club I'm part of I see all four for just under $40.00. That's a pretty darn good deal for hardcover, so I decided to go ahead and purchase and then with a my discount for previous purchases I ended up getting them all for $8.43 and no shipping or handling because it was during a promotion. Can't beat that.

Where was I, oh yeah, so after only a few chapters in I started to get sleepy so I took an hour nap, or at least tried. I did doze, just never completely fell asleep. Still felt good though. I texted HDT just before 6:00 since he should've been home already to let him know I was hungry and too see when he'd be home. He figured at least another hour so I made myself some soup and had it and some crackers and decided to watch Practical Magic. Haven't seen that one in ages either. He came near the end of it and of course went straight to the computer to play WOW but did ask if we'd be watching more Grey's and I let him know we would as soon as the movie was over which is what we did.

Weekend update

So Friday night HDT's youngest sister and their mom came over and we went out to dinner and a movie. We went to see Inception which I really liked but I don't think the other girls liked it much and HDT didn't like as much as me, although he did enjoy it.

It was late by the time we got out of there so they went to his sister's house for the night, I went to bed and HDT stayed up to play Call of Duty, of course. He finally came to bed around 5:30ish and at 9:30ish there was a loud knocking on our back door. They were there to bring us up to date on the saga of sis and her asshole exboyfriend. He just broke up with her a little earlier in the week and Friday night he texts her asking why she took his Swiffer. She calls him to say she didn't take it, she borrowed it several months earlier and they just never took it back to his place. So the next morning she takes it back to his place, of which she has a key. So she lets herself in and proceeds to find him in bed with another girl already.

So she of course is devastated. But HDT and I were trying to tell her it's what a lot of guys do, for many different reasons. And one of the best is as HDT told her, a guy doesn't need emotions to go to bed with a girl all he needs is a libido. And as I told her, they get over one relationship easier with a distraction and what's a better distraction than another girl in his bed.

So yeah, they hung out all day discussing it all over and over. Finally around 4:30 they decided to head back to her place and she was gonna take a nap and then get ready to go to a party with HDT and I for one of his coworkers.

We picked her up at 9:20 and made it out there by 10:00. Which normally wouldn't be late for a Saturday party but it started at 3:30. But that's ok, there were people that showed up even after us. Everyone kept asking her were the boyfriend was and so she had to keep telling everyone that they broke up. He's also a coworker of HDT and the host and so many other party goers. So I kept giving her shots and taking them along with her.

Around 1:00 we finally left along with one of the coworkers and went to an all night restaurant to get some breakfast. We dropped her off afterward and once we got home I went straight to bed and HDT played Call of Duty. Anyone notice a pattern? Yep, that's the usual in our household. But this time he didn't stay up all night.

Sunday he got up about 9:30 to go to a friends house to hang out and I stayed in bed. I had to get up at 7:20 to let the dog go to the bathroom and feed everyone. Then he decided he had to go to the bathroom again at 8:30. Then HDT's alarm started to go off at 8:50. So yeah, after he got up and I had piece again I was able to finally fall back asleep. Next thing I know I'm waking up at 12:20. But I felt well rested.

I was lazy and did some reading and then started in on season 2 of Grey's Anatomy until he came home. We watched some of the recorded shows until his sister came over to cut his hair. After that I went back to Grey's and they went online to do some things.

So it was an eventful weekend but relaxing just the same.
