So, yeah, my migraine got so bad that I had to stay home on Tuesday. I took one of my pills after calling in to work and then crawled back into bed and hibernated until after 12:00. And pretty much only got up then because HDT had to get up for a doctor appointment and he disturbed Poydras. So I got up to let him outside and feed him, Poydras not HDT silly. I debated crawling back into bed again but decided I'd take a hot bath instead. Those seem to help with the headaches sometimes.
It had started snowing during the night and when we got up there were several inches accumulated already. HDT shoveled the steps and the sidewalk out to his Jeep on his way to his appointment. A couple hours later when I had to take Poydras out enough had fallen that I had to shovel again. Plus I had to uncover the satellite dish since the snow was causing interference.
HDT got home shortly after that and we had lunch and watched some tv. At some point his mom showed up bringing the pictures she needs him to work on for a slide show for his grandma's birthday party this Saturday. At 5:00 he started to get ready to go into work for some overtime he had (6:00 - 10:00) and his mom and I talked about his sister and what she's going through for a while. She was slowly preparing to leave to go to Walgreens to work on scanning in more of her pictures to bring to him at work. She had just finished putting on her boots and was actually getting ready to leave when he came walking back in the door. Turns out on the 1st, in his iphone calender when a bunch of birthday stuff got all wacky some of his overtime stuff got all wacky too and he ended up not having any overtime.
So he changed clothes to go snow blow the driveway and kicked her out of the house to get to the store to work on the pictures. While they did that I watched The Cape. We had started it on Monday when Jess was over but she had to leave for a meeting so we stopped it until she got back. But she didn't get back until after I had to get ready for bed so they finished it during the night so I had to catch up. It was pretty good, better than I expected, so we'll keep watching it for now. When there was about a 1/2 hour left HDT had finished with our driveway and our neighbor's - he was paying them back for doing ours from the last big snowfall.
I started the oven for dinner and he started in on the pictures while I finished the show. His mom didn't show back up until after 9:00, when he should've been getting ready for bed since he had to work the next day. I finally headed up around 11:00 after making up the futon for his mom to crash on. I think he showed up not long after that.
Yesterday at work I still had a headache but it slowly got better as the day wore on. By last night it was completely gone and today still no pain. Knock on wood it lasts.

TV talk
I just read an article that said Bret Favre was debating on not retiring now, that he was in talks with other teams besides Green Bay. I said when he announced his retirement that I wasn't holding my breath about it. I was being cynical about it because of the last time he said he was retiring and didn't. He still has never given his written notice to the league, so see, until it's official official I'm not buying it.
In more happy news, Battlestar Galactica starts back up tomorrow night. This is one of the best shows on TV. My emotions are mixed though because although I'm very excited that it's starting back up I'm saddened because it's the final season but then we're going to find out all the answers we've been wanting so I'm right back up again. It's a roller coaster that's for sure.
While we were out sick we caught up on everything we had DVR'd since January or was it December? I'm not sure now, I just know some of the shows were recorded while the writers strike was still going on. We cleared out everything but 3 movies and finally decided to try Torchwood which we had from Netflix. We had the first 3 discs of the 1st season but we only got through the third show before we decided not to watch anymore. It wasn't that it was bad, because it wasn't, it was actually pretty good. But after watching one show we didn't want to immediately watch another one we did just because that's all we had. We both agreed that although it was a pretty good show we could take it or leave it so we decided to leave it and try the next one. Sorry Natalie, I know you like it.
I've heard such great things about Freaks and Geeks and Entourage and I have both in my queue. I'm thinking I'll go with F & G first though since there's only one season of it or are there two? I can't remember now how many seasons it lasted before it was canceled. Anyway, we'd be able to fly through those and get to Entourage and try it out to see if it's worth watching. I really love me some Jeremy Piven. He used to be on my list of 5 for the longest time. Ok, I went and fixed my queue to go with Freaks and Geeks first. I forgot I also have The Tick on there too. Loved that cartoon and I think we only saw an episode or two of the live action show but we both like Warburton so I'm a little excited to watch it also. I might have to go to that one before Entourage also.
And what the hell happened to Lost? I didn't know they were going to go on hiatus this season. I thought since it was a shortened season it was going to run straight through to the end but nope, hasn't been on for the last few weeks. Just went to their website and they're not scheduled to return until the 24th! Unreal! Whatever.
What else, oh yeah, Jericho has been canceled. But we sort of knew that was coming. We're just glad that the fans were able to bring it back for the shortened season to be able to resolve everything and have it end in a way that could have left it open if it got renewed but still resolved everything else in a way that was good enough in case it wasn't. I hate when shows get canceled without being able to resolve things, sucks big time.
We've been rewatching Friends. I had actually done it from the beginning last summer and got as far as 1/2 way through the 9th season but for some reason didn't finish. So while sick I finished them up. I convinced HDiTty to rewatch them so I've been watching them again with him. I still laugh just as hard, such a great show.
I've been wanting to rewatch Buffy and Angel too but we don't own those so I'm thinking we need to go out and buy 'em. I have 100 bucks burning a hole in my pocket that I received for my birthday (isn't that nice, I'm 38 and I still get money for my birthday!) and I haven't made up my mind what I want to use it on. I've gone back and forth between the latest seasons of Gray's Anatomy and Battlestar or both even but I'm thinking either Buffy or Angel would be better. I could get a whole series instead of just one season, sure I'd have to kick in some of my own money but that's ok. Or even better yet, if they're at Border's Bookstore I have two gift cards for there also so I wouldn't have to kick in any of my own money. Hmmm, I'm going to have to seriously think on this.

Love it, but sick of it
As mentioned the other day yesterday was HDiTty's birthday. He almost had to go into work but luckily his partner took the overtime. He'll owe her but that's ok. His best friend met us at our house and then we drove out to meet some other friends from his work at Buffalo Wild Wings to have some drinks and food. I had 1/2 a long island before I passed it over to him to finish. For one thing I hadn't had anything to eat for 8 hours and it was already hitting me pretty good and the other I still have a headache and figured I shouldn't be drinking on top of it.
Yeah, every single day I've had aches in the head. They're not going away. I asked the doc if I was going to have to live with this pain and he told me no, we'd figure it out. But I'm starting to doubt. I'm still taking my preventative though because I'm a good girl. Ok, I'm done talking about my head. Ha! Who am I kidding. Although I'm sick and tired of it, it is my life right now so I know I'll talk about it again.

I forgot to tell ya'll what happened over the weekend. Our TV went out. Yep, no TV for us for a few more days at least. I was watching a movie (Independence Day) and it wasn't quite over with when I had to go get HD up for work so I paused it. Now keep in mind we pause the darn thing all the time whether it's the Tivo or DVD so I know it wasn't from doing that. I stay upstairs with him while he's getting ready but I have to go back down to get his work shirt and I notice the screen is black. I don't think anything of it. But then I have to go back down again because I forgot his t-shirt and this time it registers in my little peanut head brain that instead of seeing the president shaking hands with his adoring public after bringing down the bad guys I'm seeing a big huge black screen. I go upstairs and ask HD if he remembers that ever happening on pause before. He says no but reminds me that sometimes when we pause the DVD it does "lose" the "connection" after awhile. But if it does it goes back to regular TV not to black screen, at least that I can remember. And if it did go to a black screen then there was at least sound. There was nothing, just a black screen and instead of the green light stating our screen was on there was a red light like it had turned off.
So I sent him off to work with the idea I'd look into it after he was gone. I turned it off and on several times and each time I turned it back on there was this "keening" sound that was emitting from the TV. The green light would flash like it was going to come on but instead of going solid it would go off and a few inches to the left a red light would then flash. Turns out that red light was the lamp indicator. Yep, our lamp had burnt out. So $200.00 and a couple days wait we should have it back in working order.
Apparently we're lucky though. From what we've both heard/read these lamps tend to go out within 120 days of purchase quite often. We've had our TV for at least 3 years and 4 months. So yeah, we've had it way longer than 120 days.

Snow, snow, snow and more snow. I love it but I'm really really tired of it. It's been snowing all day today but luckily it's been really light so it's been close to no accumulation. But still, come on, it's time to stop. And according to yahoo's weather report it's supposed to do the same kind of thing on and off for the rest of the week. UGH

Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" TOO MUCH TV!!!!
I love Autumn. I love everything about it. The changing of the leaves, the crispness of the air and the fact that I don't have to mow the lawn for the next 8 - 9 months. I even love the high winds and rain. Just thought I'd mention it.
We were going to try a new Mexican restaurant last night. They're not open yet but they were having a restaurant warming party, and they went to the station where HDiTty works and handed out invitations to everyone who wanted them, they must have gone to several other places also though. You ask, "Katrina, why do you say that?" Well, I'll tell you. Because by the time we got there they were completely packed with TOO damn many people standing around waiting for a table. So we decided against it and went to another restaurant we've never been to. It was ok, nothing special and the prices were kind of high so we both agreed that we won't be going back. At least, not as a first choice anyway. Maybe like we did last night, if all our other choices are packed we might go.
I said it before and I'll say it again. I really don't want to work. Just thought I'd mention that too.
As also mentioned before, we watch way too much tv. But even still we decided to check out a lot of the new shows this season. We already have one absolute keeper which is Dirty Sexy Money. I don't think there's one thing about it I don't like. Other than there are times that looking at the lead actor, that right now I can't remember his first name but his last is Krause, all I see is Casey McCall from Sportsnight. Others might look at him and see his character from Six Feet Under. I've only watched 2/3 of the first season of that show so he's still Casey to me. PETER, oops, sorry didn't mean to yell but that's his first name. It's Peter. Felicity Huffman from Desperate Housewives was the same way. She was Dana Whitaker from Sportsnight for about the first quarter or third of the first season of DH. So I'm sure eventually he'll turn into only this character.
We're liking K-Ville and Journeyman on Mondays so far. I think the only new show on Tuesday is Reaper. It's ok, we missed the premier though which sucked since it was directed by Kevin Smith. Wednesday is Private Practice and Pushing Daisies. He doesn't watch PP, well not really anyway. He's on the computer when I put it on so if he wants he can completely ignore it. I'm still not sold on it yet. I don't dislike it but I can't say that I like it yet either. We watched the premier of Pushing Daisies on ABC.com then watched the episode that came on last night. It's definitely different but I like it quite a bit. Don't think there's anything new on Thursday. Oh wait is Bionic Woman on Thursday or Wednesday? Doesn't matter either way, it's also one that we're liking so far. I can't say that it's a definite keeper but it's more that than not. And Friday is Moonlight. We like it but not completely sold yet. Oh yeah, somewhere in there are two new half hour comedies. There's the one that comes on after How I Met Your Mother, about the geeks. The Big Bang Theory, that's it. We're really enjoying it immensely. He can relate because he is a geek, not on the level as those guys but he still is one. And I can relate because I'm married to him, although as I said while watching this weeks episode I wouldn't have gotten one or two of the jokes if I didn't know him. The other is Back To You. The show with Kelsey Grammer and Pratricia Heaton. We've laughed out loud several times now. It could use some work but over all it's a good one.
So what is that, 10 shows. Wow, 10 new shows. Of the other new shows that we were going to try we already nixed Life. I recorded the first two shows and we started to watch the premier when we decided we had enough already and before either of us got into it I stopped and deleted it. We also watched the first 15 minutes of Big Shots and decided it blew so that's gone. And I recorded Cave Men and Carpoolers but then deleted them also without watching.
I'm not even gonna mention all the established shows we watch. And there's still a few that haven't even started yet that we'll be watching once they do. We might have to just dump the ones we're not the most thrilled with. Hell, we already dumped Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters and those were established shows we watched. But since we missed the last month/month 1/2 of the last season of each we decided to give up on 'em. Maybe I'll watch 'em on DVD through Netflix.

Sabbatical - my impossible dream
We watched K-Ville last night. It was good, I enjoyed it so we can add that as another show to our "we watch too much tv" list. But it was sad to see how bad parts of the city still look. It's been two years, which is a long time but on the other hand it's a pretty short time too. So although I, amongst so many others, feel like it shouldn't be so bad still it does make sense since so many people have moved away. There's not many people left to build it back up. But it'll get there again, I have faith. It's nice to see the French Quarter though. I miss it. We haven't been there since before the hurricane hit and I really really want to go back. But with him going to Mexico this past summer and a new job for me we just won't be able to at all this year. So the soonest we'll get back will be fall of next year, if then even. We'll have to see how things go throughout the first 8 months.
H Ditty is cracking me up. He wants an iphone like nobody's business. He had wanted to get one before he went to Mexico but since we had to foot the bill for it we couldn't afford for him to get the phone. Besides, I told him to wait a few months so that way he could get feed back from all the users. Make sure it's worth the 500 or 600 dollars. Also, I figured in about 6 months the price would come down. Well, we haven't heard anything real negative about it so that's good. But sure enough, after only 3 months out the price was already knocked down by 200 bucks. So of course he started chomping at the bit again to get one. I've always had the policy that if he's willing to work the overtime to get the funds for his expensive toys then so be it. So we're at work yesterday and he Emails me saying he doesn't have to work that many more hours to be able to have the funds available to get one. So I say ok, and then he sends back that although he really wants one he'd like to pay some of our debt off too.
I'd of course prefer the debt to be paid but he did work long hours for the cash. He can be so wishy washy sometimes, it cracks me up. But it's a good thing when it comes to big ticket items such as this. He usually procrastinates so much that the price usually comes down some more. It's worked out for us a few times now.
I'm sick of working. I read an article yesterday giving tips on what you need to do to be able to go on sabbatical for a year. Yeah, there's no way in hell I'd be able to. It said to have your mortgage paid off, no more car payments, no more credit card payments and to have at least a minimum of three months worth of savings for a cushion. I have the first three and no where near the last one. There was a section that mentioned a working sabbatical, as in a part time job doing what you enjoy so that way you do have some extra money. But even still, there's no way I could do it. But believe me I'd love to.
