I don't wanna be here

So, is it wrong of me to wish I had a migraine right now so I could leave work and go home?

Yes, yes it is.  No, I really don't want a migraine.  I just wish I weren't at work.

But I am so here I'll stay until 5:00.  Blech

Actually, I'm quite glad I don't have a migraine and quite surprised too.  It's that time of the month and it's all rainy/stormyish outside.  My two main triggers so really it's quite amazing I don't have one.

I certainly hope I'm not jinxing myself either, because I really don't want one no matter how much I'd like to go home.

Weekend Update 3/11-13/11 Also includes Monday the 14th

So this weekend was a good one.  Since HDiTty had to work on my birthday weekend we celebrated it this past weekend.

Friday after work we got ready and went out to Outback Steakhouse rather than a "fancy" steakhouse as I was originally wanting to do.  We agreed that since people were coming over on Saturday we'd already be spending a lot of money so we decided to go "cheaper" and go to a chain restaurant instead.  We still ended up dropping 80 bucks in all and that was with splitting the meal!!  We each got a couple drinks - he got long islands and I got something I can't remember the name of but it was really good, sweet but not too sweet.  We shared an appetizer that although was ok wasn't what we remembered getting way back over a year ago the last time we were there.  So yeah, we won't be getting that again, since it was only ok.  We shared a fillet mignon meal, it was an 8oz fillet and we got the garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli for the sides.  We split everything in half and then before we even took a bite of anything we realized we forgot to order the 3 grilled shrimp add on for me.  So we snagged the waitress and let her know I'd like those.  I cut about 2oz off of my half of the steak and gave it to him.  That way he got about 5oz and and I got 3oz., which with the shrimp was perfect.  Then we shared a desert of warm brownie with vanilla ice cream on top.  It would've been over a hundred bucks if I would've gotten my own meal.

So yeah, we won't be doing that again when we go.  No appetizer nor desert, although the only reason we got desert was because of celebrating my birthday.  We'll still split the steak and as long as the add on shrimp are still available I'll get those so he can have more of the steak; and we'll get our own 2 sides.  That'll work out really well.  Afterward we headed home and just vegged out on the couch until bedtime.  Or at least I did, he went on the computer and came to bed a couple/few hours after I did.

Saturday I got up before him and got myself presentable and headed out to the grocery store just before noon.  I woke him up before I left though to make sure he didn't oversleep.  When I got home he let me know that Jess was on her way over to start watching more Grey's Anatomy.  We cried and cried when George died, watched one more after that ep and then had to stop so she could go home to take a shower for later that night; HDT could take a shower and head out to get my cake and a few other things I forgot earlier; and I could vacuum and finish straightening up.

HDT also picked up Jim while he was out.  They made it back before Jess did.  At some point earlier I had been putting the twelve packs of pop in the fridge to get cold.  I also was transferring my Diet Mt. Dews from the case to the fridge pack, as I was doing so I dropped one of the cans right ON TOP of my left foot:

Look at that bruise!  And that tiny, tiny cut that bled like crazy!!  Yeah, it still hurts, maybe even more now that the bruise is starting to heal.

Anyway, Jess finally made it back over, Pat also came and Michelle - one of the girls that went to school in Mexico when HDT did several summers ago.  Love her!!  We had a great time playing games and eating good but bad for you food and having birthday cake and doing shot after shot of Jager.  Although some of them had other types of shots as well.

Jess and Pat left around the same time so the rest of us played another game before finally Michelle had to leave.  HDT, Jim and I watched a movie - Suck - that I had read about awhile ago in EW and their friend Clint had reminded me about when all the mutants were in town a few weeks back.  It was an absolutely ridiculous but fun movie - recommended!!

I went to bed after that, not sure when HDT finally took Jim home but he didn't make it into bed until after 7am.  Which was bad since we had to get up fairly early to go to his nephew's birthday party.  Since we lost an hour that didn't help and since we still needed to get his card and present and pick up grandma on the way he really couldn't/didn't get much sleep.

Jess got over just after 1pm and we headed to Target to get presents and cards.  We also got his mom her cards and present (her birthday was Feb 21st) and then headed over to grandma's to wrap everything up and sign the cards.  Got up to the party around 3pm and no sooner did we walk in the door than Gage started to open his gifts.  I guess they were just waiting on us to show up.  After the gift opening we sang happy birthday and had cake and that was that really.  Did some socializing for a little while and then made it out of there around 5:30 or so.

Took grandma to the pharmacy to collect some of her medicine but they were closed for the day so just took her home.  Got home and Jess took off to go meet a couple friends for the rest of the evening.  HDT and I debated about heading out to our favorite Chinese place to pick up dinner but I told him since we spent so damn much money this weekend and it's such a long drive out there and it's not exactly cheap to get it he had to agree that it would be the last time this month that we ate out.  Oh yeah, he also had to drive because I was really too tired to keep driving.  So since he didn't like any of those things he decided we'd just stay home for dinner, as we should anyway.  He made tacos for himself and I had a couple hot dogs and chips.

We finally started watching Dexter Season 4 that we've had from Netflix for several weeks now.  Then around 11:00ish we finally made it into bed.

He had to go in at 5:00am instead of his usual 6:00.  When I woke up when his alarm went off I was met with a very bad headache.  But rather than take anything for it I figured I just needed more sleep.  Yeah, that didn't help.  For one it took me forever to fall back asleep because of how bad it was and I think thinking about it didn't help.  Then when my alarm went off a couple hours later and I moved to hit the snooze I got the sharpest fuckin knife pain all over my forehead.  UGH.  I got up to let the boy out to do his business, got him and the cats fed and went into the bathroom to try to get ready anyway.

Yeah, that wasn't gonna work.  So I called and left a message for my boss, took one of my Maxalts, put a blanket over our east facing window, put on my eye mask and crawled right back into bed.  I woke up completely just before noon.  Still hurting but not quite as bad as earlier.  As the day wore on it kept easing up little by little.  Around 4:30 or so my head all of sudden started to tingle and get really cool and I could actually feel the pressure releasing.  That's only happened a handful of times.  I got really happy but then shortly after no pain it came back but this time only on the right side of my head.

That stayed, getting bad then easing up then getting bad then easing up over and over all the way until last night.  I went into work on Tuesday though because this time at least it was manageable.  Turns out my coworker also called in sick.  Except she's feeling all fluey, just no fever.

She's still feels that way today and my head has decided to hurt again but this time on the left side but at least it's still manageable.

Migraine is finally gone

So, yeah, my migraine got so bad that I had to stay home on Tuesday. I took one of my pills after calling in to work and then crawled back into bed and hibernated until after 12:00. And pretty much only got up then because HDT had to get up for a doctor appointment and he disturbed Poydras. So I got up to let him outside and feed him, Poydras not HDT silly. I debated crawling back into bed again but decided I'd take a hot bath instead. Those seem to help with the headaches sometimes.

It had started snowing during the night and when we got up there were several inches accumulated already. HDT shoveled the steps and the sidewalk out to his Jeep on his way to his appointment. A couple hours later when I had to take Poydras out enough had fallen that I had to shovel again. Plus I had to uncover the satellite dish since the snow was causing interference.

HDT got home shortly after that and we had lunch and watched some tv. At some point his mom showed up bringing the pictures she needs him to work on for a slide show for his grandma's birthday party this Saturday. At 5:00 he started to get ready to go into work for some overtime he had (6:00 - 10:00) and his mom and I talked about his sister and what she's going through for a while. She was slowly preparing to leave to go to Walgreens to work on scanning in more of her pictures to bring to him at work. She had just finished putting on her boots and was actually getting ready to leave when he came walking back in the door. Turns out on the 1st, in his iphone calender when a bunch of birthday stuff got all wacky some of his overtime stuff got all wacky too and he ended up not having any overtime.

So he changed clothes to go snow blow the driveway and kicked her out of the house to get to the store to work on the pictures. While they did that I watched The Cape. We had started it on Monday when Jess was over but she had to leave for a meeting so we stopped it until she got back. But she didn't get back until after I had to get ready for bed so they finished it during the night so I had to catch up. It was pretty good, better than I expected, so we'll keep watching it for now. When there was about a 1/2 hour left HDT had finished with our driveway and our neighbor's - he was paying them back for doing ours from the last big snowfall.

I started the oven for dinner and he started in on the pictures while I finished the show. His mom didn't show back up until after 9:00, when he should've been getting ready for bed since he had to work the next day. I finally headed up around 11:00 after making up the futon for his mom to crash on. I think he showed up not long after that.

Yesterday at work I still had a headache but it slowly got better as the day wore on. By last night it was completely gone and today still no pain. Knock on wood it lasts.

I can't think of anything to use. So, no quote today.

Migraines Suck

So, I've only had a hand full of really bad migraines since leaving my last place of employment back in November '09. As in, bad enough I have to take the strong medicine for it.

I've had one every day but Saturday since last Wednesday, maybe even Tuesday. Most of the time ibuprofen has been getting rid of it. But today it's worse than it has been, not sure if I'm gonna make it the whole day at work. Either way, when I get home I'm definitely gonna have to take one of the migraine pills. See, it's been so long since I took one I can't even remember the name of the stuff. I know it's not Imitrex, that's what I used to take. The knew stuff starts with an "m" oh well, whatever.

Not exactly sure why today's is so bad but I'm thinking it might be because we're supposed to get a pretty good snow storm overnight (2-4 inches).

Migraines = hate!

I really hope I get a turkey tomorrow

So we'll be going on our first real vacation in ages starting October 3rd and I can't wait. We still haven't made up our minds where we'll be going though. Originally we were going to Niagara Falls and meeting up with our friends from Canada. Then it was Niagara and on to New York City. Then it was Niagara, New York City and maybe Vermont and/or Main - a driving trip. Then it went back to Niagara and instead of meeting up with Canada friends it was going up to their home for the rest of the week. I mentioned Door County again, we could just relax in one place and enjoy the fall colors.

So yeah, we have some decisions to make. Although I'd like to go to all those places right now I'm leaning towards Door County. But no matter what we have to decide by this weekend because we'll be having to book a room or rooms.

Poydras has lost two baby teeth already. The bottom two eye teeth. He was not a happy puppy while they were in but loose. They must have been hurting somewhat because he really didn't want to do anything for the most part. I felt so horrible for him. But as soon as both were out he was a completely hyper puppy as he was before they got loose. He was running around like a mad dog yesterday afternoon. It was good to see.

He's also trying to play with the cats. Both boys allow him to sniff them at the nose or their sides or just about anywhere but their butts. It's too funny to watch. Miss Thang, Whiskers, hisses as soon as he comes up to her. But he still tries. The other day I watched him go get one of his toys and take it up to Cry Baby and drop it in front of him to get him to play. Yeah, Cry Baby was having none of that. He just looked at him with the most cutest baleful look. According to HDiTty he's tried it many times. One day he even went and got three toys, one right after the other, but CB just ignored him. It makes me happy that he's so willing to share his toys but so sad that the cats don't want to play.

But I think one day they will. Before he had to go up to them but the last few days I've seen both boys go up to him to sniff. So I'm very hopeful that one day it's going to happen.

My new migraine medicine seems to be working very well. I believe I put in here what I'm using now, Propranolol. It's a beta blocker but it works on migraines. And so far so good. We've had several rainy and/or stormy days since August 3rd. Days that normally I would be in pain. A couple bad enough that normally I would've even had to stay home (or at least should have since I don't always do that when I should). But little to no pain on those days so far. I did have a mild headache for two days before my period started last month and on the first day a mild migraine. But it was mild enough that ibuprofen worked. So I'm really happy about that.

Oh guess what? HD and I joined a bowling league. We're on a team with his dad and stepmom. We bowl every Wednesday evening. We started two weeks ago. My first week I didn't do too bad, at least not for me anyway. But last week I sucked big time. At least for my first two games. My 3rd was actually pretty good, I got 150 (without the handicap that is). My handicap from the 1st week was 78 points or was it 84, now I can't remember. Anyway, as badly as I bowled last week I can only imagine that it's gone up. His stepmom did so bad the 1st week that her handicap was exactly 100. We switched last week. She did much better so hers should be going down. HD's was around mine but his dad's as 36 I believe. If it wasn't that then it was 32. But it's all good. HD, his stepmom and I all joined to have a grand ole time. His dad also but he takes it a bit more seriously than us.

I'm still having to use their balls and shoes because we haven't bought either for me yet. But I know that I'll be getting these very cute white shoes with pink trim. And the ball I want is pink and black swirled. We just have to sit down and get them ordered! I can't wait.

All right, time for me to get outta here.

Puppy, head, The Voice is dead

The puppy is coming along in his training. He still has some accidents in the house though. Luckily it's only pee, he's never gone poo in the house. Knock on wood!! I spent all last evening watching The Dog Whisperer and I see where we can improve on some things. We used to watch that show quite a while ago pretty regularly. But I quit recording it after I had read how other trainers had a problem with how he does some things. Mainly his tiring the dogs out when they're being particularly stubborn. But after watching 3 shows last night I figure if that's really all they have to really complain about then I'll go back to watching it. You never know how helpful it could be.

So after being reassured about the red spots that have cropped up all over my body I now have found a brown spot in the middle of my lower back. When I first noticed it there was a scratch in it (it's close to a half inch in diameter). It's almost perfectly round but the edges aren't perfectly smooth. The spot itself is flat, it's not raised at all like the red dots. I had HDiTty look at it and he saw the scratch and thought maybe it was a result of that. But the scratch was on the healing end and since then (a couple weeks now) has completely healed, the spot is still there. So, yeah, I'm going to have to make another dermatologist appointment and have it checked out to make myself feel better. Since I have a follow up with Dr. Head regarding the new medicine this Thursday I think I'll give HD's Dr. Skin a call afterward and see if he's available some time soon. If I'm lucky he'll be able to squeeze me in that afternoon since they're up the street from each other. Oh, hell, never mind. Dr. Head has moved locations, shit, I guess I better check out the paper they gave me and find out where he'll be now.

So movie trailers are going to suck now.

Vacation Weekend Recap - Finally

So, we ended up not going to Door County the other weekend. We ended up staying home but at least we did something every day. I was frustrated at first that we weren't going anywhere because I just knew we would end up doing nothing but sitting on our butts for the whole weekend. But although we pretty much took it easy, like I said, we did do stuff every day.

Friday I had my doctor's appointment at 8:30 as mentioned before. I'm now on Propranolol, which is a blood pressure medicine originally. I only take one of them a day as opposed to the two of the Topamax I was taking. Also I'm supposed to take it at night because drowsiness can ensue. Dr. Head (not his real name of course) was telling me about the different side effects that could occur and then he started to hem and haw before telling me the last one. Got me a little nervous until he says that there are some people who claim to have nightmares from using this medicine. He then says that in his 20 years of being a neurologist and all the years prescribing this medicine he's never had a patient whose ever claimed it. Then he says all excitedly, "But if you have any let me know because I'm really interested in it. It'd be kind of cool to have a patient that finally had one." Luckily I'm pretty damn easy going and laughed about it rather than freak out or get upset with him practically wishing them on me.

After this appointment we took my truck in for it's appointment for the A/C. Luckily what was wrong with it was covered under the extended warranty. About a month before the A/C went out lights on the left side of the control panel had gone out and then it was a couple weeks later that the on/off knob for the A/C got stuck. Apparently that's when it really went to shit. Whatever blew to cause the lights to go out slowly burnt up the wires or the switch (can't remember which but I think it was the switch) inside the console that turns on the A/C. They fused together which is what caused the knob to get stuck and then eventually soften up again enough that when I was finally able to turn it I had broken that connection. So I guess the switch and the new knobs and whatever other parts they ordered were all covered by the warranty including their labor. I only had to pay the hundred bucks deductible. Unfortunately they didn't get the part on Saturday as the guy hoped they would so they had to keep it over the weekend. But it was all better by Monday afternoon.

After dropping of the truck on the way home HDiTty was practically falling asleep so he went to bed as soon as we got there. I grabbed my book and decided to read until I heard back from the service dept on whether all that work would be covered under warranty or not. They called right at noon so right after that I grabbed my purse and headed out to go do some errands that needed doing. One of those was sending some books back through the mail. While there I decided this was as good a time as any to finally get my passport. Grabbed an application, did some shopping and went home to fill it in and grab my birth certificate.

Made it back there with about 45 minutes before they were to end for the day with accepting applications/taking photos. At least that's what I was told earlier when I picked up the application. The first guy I talked to tried to say they were done for the day but luckily the chick that told me what time they would be ending was still there and finishing up with her customer and saw me and heard him. She called me over to her and said she'd help me. When we went into the back to take my picture she told me that her husband and son just did theirs and received them in two weeks. She said the earliest I could expect it would be in two weeks the latest would probably be three weeks. It was Friday the 1st that I did it and I received my passport last Friday the 8th. One week, how awesome is that?! The only thing is how bad my photo is. 1) I don't photograph well to begin with and 2) she asked me a question right before she snapped the picture so I was answering her when she did it. But it was right when I opened my mouth to talk so it's slightly open. But rather than take another one I opted to keep it because, well, see number one.

HD had me wake him up around 5ish so we could go see a couple movies. First was the new Mummy movie. SUCKED big time, DO NOT go see it. The only reason we didn't leave the theater is because both of us are people that would prefer to see things through when we pay for 'em like that. Yes, we could've asked for our money back but rather than the hassle of that we opted to stay. Sort of regret it though. Horrible, just horrible!! After that we saw the new X-Files movie. Much, much better. We both enjoyed that one.

Saturday we did sit on our asses all day after we got up late in the morning. By the time I was able to get him up and ready to go anywhere it was going on 4pm and all the zoos would be closed by the time we got there. The boat tours/rides we would've been interested in were either sold out or running too late to be able to make it to Zanies Comedy Club which is where we decided we'd go that night. So we decided to go to our favorite Chinese place for dinner which is way out by where I work but luckily there's a road not too far away that would take us directly to the comedy club. Rather than have two shows like normal they only had the one starting at 7:45 and it didn't end until around 10:30. If you like going to comedy clubs keep your eyes out for Three Poles Walk Into a Bar coming your way.

It's a whole evening's worth of entertainment. To start with as you're waiting for it all to begin they provide a plate of polish food, which we opted not to have since we just finished dinner. Besides, not big on most polish food anyway. But the plates had quite a bit on them and everyone pretty much finished their whole plates so it all must have been good. Then after the host comedian did his shtick he introduced Freeze Dried, a polka band out of Chicago. They played about 5 songs or so. A couple were traditional polka songs but the rest were pop songs set to polka music. They were really good and fun to watch. A few couples even got up and danced. After that the comedians did their sets, all very funny. And then the band played again while everyone was settling up their bills for the night and even beyond that. Not too many people stayed behind after paying, maybe about 6 or so groups of us did. But since they told us we could stay and enjoy the music if we wanted to that's what we did. The headliner comedian even joined for one song.

The whole thing was being recorded for a special that apparently is going to be aired on Showtime at some point. The headliner requested people say what they thought of the show on their way out, good or bad, and it'd be quite possible they'd see themselves on Showtime. We didn't do it because we were enjoying the music too much to leave. By the time all of left who had stayed behind they weren't filming anymore. At least not for opinions. There was a guy walking around with a camera filming the band and people who had stayed behind so there's a good chance we're on their film. But I doubt they'd put us on tv as we're not really tv material.

Sunday we got up early enough to head up to the Milwaukee Zoo. His dad and stepmom joined us after they found out we'd be going to a casino afterward. HD hasn't downloaded any of the photos he took so I can put any on here but I'm hoping some of the orangutan pictures came out. There was the cutest little toddler at the top of the cage. It kept hanging there and spinning around looking at everyone, it was very cute. We made a point to see the primates and the big cats, everything else we saw was just extra. We did pay an extra two dollars to see the sharks and stingrays though. We had to wash our hands on the way in because it was a touching experience. The sharks were smart and stayed in the middle of their little pond thing so there was no touching them at all. But the stingrays were swimming and shell crabs were crawling all around their pond thing. They'd every now and then come close enough to the edges for people to reach in and touch 'em. I was able to touch the stingrays a few times. They were very soft, similar to velvet. At the end as we were getting ready to leave his stepmom said she wanted to go back to see the penguins to see if they were swimming around yet. While she did that HD and I went into the souvenir shop where I bought a cat statue thingy. It's two cats cuddled up with each other and their tails make a heart, very cute.

After the zoo we headed over to the casino in Milwaukee. After getting a bite to eat there HD and I looked around for a blackjack table and his dad and stepmom went from slot machine to slot machine. She plays, he doesn't, so I guess he was acting as her good luck charm. We were trying to find a five dollar table and although they had them they were too crowded for our taste. We finally settled for a ten dollar one that was completely empty. That is until we sat down. Almost from that moment other people showed up. Oh well.

We each put down 100 bucks. I'm not sure how long we played at that table until space opened up on the five dollar one but when it did I still had $90 but HD was out completely. So when we went over there I split it up so we each had $45. By 7:30 when they called us to say it was time to go (we had agreed ahead of time that at 7:30 we'd get ready to leave) we had profited $40.00 but we gave ten of it to the dealer as a tip.

So even though we didn't go out of town as a mini vacation we still did things we normally don't do on a weekend (except the movies of course) and had a lot of fun. I can't wait for our actual vacation the first week of October. We know we'll be going to Niagara Falls for the first half but we haven't decided what we'll be doing for the second half. Not sure if we'll go up to Canada to visit our friends that live in Ottawa or head over to New York City. We just don't know, maybe even won't until we're on our way. Who knows, but either way I can't wait!

One of these years I'm gonna go there. I swear it!!

Last Saturday I went to a cousin's wedding. She married a guy whose family came over here several years ago from Scotland. Where I want to go so badly!! Apparently his father is the head of the Scotland bank in New York. WOW! I have no idea why he and some of his siblings live here in Illinois though. But I was told that his mom divides her time between New York and here. She will literally fly into Chicago to go babysit for his sister and brother-in-law. Must be nice.

Anyway, the whole reason I brought it up is that he went traditional and wore a kilt. So did several of the other men including his ushers and a couple of the groomsmen. But to top it off so did the two ring bearers. One was 2ish and the other was 4, maybe 5. They were the absolute cutest things running around in their little kilts. I tried to get a photo with my phone but they wouldn't stay still. I so regret not taking our camera. My mom was able to get a few photos of the older one during the reception though.

And the flower girl. Oh my goodness, talk about adorable. She was old enough to walk but not talk yet. She was the absolute cutest thing in her white dress. She actually went down the aisle all by herself but when she got to the front she went straight to her daddy who was one of the groomsmen in a kilt. The cuteness of those three was almost just too much.

I'm taking a vacation day tomorrow and it looks like we'll be going to Door County, WI. I can't wait!! First I have a doctor's appointment at 8:30. It's a follow up with my neurologist to go over my preventative. I'm telling him we need to change my medicine. I still get migraines way too often. In fact, it seems I get them more often than not. Most are just annoying as all hell. As in I can still function; lights, sounds, smells, etc. don't bother me, I just walk around with a pain in my head. But about once a month they're bad enough that I don't want to do anything for at least a day.

Also I noticed around the end of June or so that some foods taste different. And it's not good. It seems to do with salt. It's very hard to explain the taste because it's not similar to anything I've ever had, but it's kind of a bitter taste. It's mostly with food that has salt in it as an ingredient. Like table salt doesn't seem to have it, or at least it's very, very faint. But like all chips, no matter the type, has the same exact underlying taste. Fritos are the worst. And how bad is it that Fritos, Cheetos and Doritos all taste the same!?! All because of this weird flavor.

So, yeah, I want to change medicines. Hopefully something different will work better and not change the flavor of my food.

Anyway, after the dr's appointment we'll be dropping off my truck to see about the air conditioning. And hopefully not long after that we'll be hopping in his truck and heading north. By the way, he had his electrical system checked out on his truck and they didn't find anything at all wrong. So he took it to another place and had them install a new wiper motor and so far so good they work. YAY! But I digress.

I so need a vacation. I haven't gone anywhere in a couple years and I'm going through withdrawals! I think the last place I went for a weekend was to Ohio when we went to see New Orleans play Cleveland. So although we did go somewhere for a weekend it still was completely centered around football. This will have nothing to do with it and the vacation we're planning for the first week of October will having nothing to do with football either. I'm really very excited about it all.

Hopefully I'll have something interesting to write about after the weekend. We shall see.

My boring life

I feel like I could hurl right now. And it's not from my stomach but from my head. I am so fucking sick of my fucking head. And my left arm. Well, more precisely it's my left wrist but that makes my whole arm feel like it hurts, all the way up to my shoulder. But back to my head. This whole month has been a study in pain for the fucking thing. Today is bad enough that I actually should be home in bed but since I left early last Tuesday because of having a migraine and family issues there's no way in hell I'm leaving early today. I keep spacing out too which is not good.

And what's really bad is that I'm supposed to be keeping a diary of all these damn headaches and I haven't done it at all. Hell, since I haven't even been keeping up with this lately I can't even come on here to use this as a reference. But since I've had some form of a headache just about every single day it'll actually be pretty easy to tell the doc the next time I see him. The only thing I'll really have to do is figure out the days that I took an Imitrex. (EDIT: These two paragraphs were written on Wednesday the 28th)

So now it's Thursday and I still feel like shit. But today my stomach doesn't feel very well either. I'm just a walking crapfest this month. Sux big time!

So now it Friday and I still don't feel my best. But at least my stomach is back to normal. Actually that was fine by late yesterday afternoon.

This is how my weeks have been going. During the day I've been at work feeling like crap but making it through. I get home and just want to do nothing so that's what I've been doing. Our lives have been pretty damn boring lately. He's been working overtime and I've been feeling like shit so we've been doing a whole lot of nothing.

Hell, even the long weekend we didn't do much. Well not really. Saturday we went over to mow his grandma's lawn. Her whole lot is 3/4 acres. Her house & driveway takes up a small portion of it but the rest is lawn. I was going to start on the front with the push mower and he was going to start on the back with the riding mower. I had been working on the front for a good 20/30 minutes when he got a call from his grandma that she was ready to be picked up from his uncles house from Milwaukee. Since he was still trying to get the riding mower started and I was all hot and sweaty I told him to go ahead and go pick her up and I would continue mowing until they got back.

I took a break for about a half hour to eat a piece of chicken and drink a coke but then got right back out there. Yeah, 15 lawn bags and a couple hours later they finally showed up. I continued to mow and filled up two more lawn bags when HD said the last portion we should just mulch. I did two more swipes while he finished collecting the last of the bags and then he came and took over finishing the mowing for me. The worst part was it turns out the town she lives in doesn't even collect lawn clippings so there was no reason to even bag at all which what took so long to begin with. If could have just mulched I could've have cruised along. UGH!! Oh well, so be it.

Let me tell you I was exhausted. But really it was my feet hurting more than anything that was bothersome, mainly my toes. The next day my feet still hurt but my shoulders and neck were sore and I had a killer migraine. I ended up having to take an Imitrex to try to get rid of it but it didn't. I really should've taken another one but didn't.

Especially since Jim came over and we three went to see Indiana Jones and then Iron Man right after. I liked both movies. As far as Indiana went the story line was so so really but the acting was good. Harrison is still sexy as far as I'm concerned. And Shia is a real cutey pie and I think he'll do very well taking over the role. I really enjoyed Iron Man. I'm glad I know nothing about the comic book so I have no idea whether the movie did it justice or not. I'm just hoping Samuel L. Jackson does better in the sequel than he's been doing. Because the last few movies I've seen him he's been pretty flat.

Monday I had to take another Imitrex. Bad weather came through along with hormones coming in deciding to take their toll too.

So yeah, all the rest of the week was crap as you can see by the fact that I couldn't even finish an update.

Phew so that was last week and it's now Monday June 2nd. I think I'll just go ahead and post this sucker and do a whole other post for what I did on Saturday. But since I have to go mow the lawn and pay bills now it'll have to wait for another day.

Not much happening lately

So I've been gone awhile. I've been very busy at work. So much so that by the time I get home I just don't feel like doing anything but vegging out. I have so much catching up to do on all the sites. I'm doing this little blurb on my lunch break. I'm hoping to be able to have a little time after work but before I wake up HD for the evening to have a little more time for another update. But I have to run to Target to get some things so I might not. We shall see. Well gotta go for now.

Later...

So I didn't go to the store.  I received another migraine this afternoon.  I've been suffering from those on and off again for the last couple of weeks.  Another reason for the non posts.  Have you ever noticed that when you go awhile without doing something or having something that you'll either crave it big time or you'll realize you couldn't care less.  Well, it's been almost two weeks since my last post and I was almost to the point of not caring at all about posting again.

As mentioned I've been super busy at work.  We got a new girl and I've been helping quite a bit with training her.  There was also some friction between her and bosslady that I thought I might get stuck in the middle of.  But it looks, at least as of today, that it might have worked itself out.  I'm hoping so since I really like both of them very much and I think this new chick could really work.  That is, as long as she decides she wants to stay.  She doesn't much care for the fact that we have to basically be collection callers.  I'm thinking bossman didn't stress that in his interview with her.  At least not like it was in my interview.

Home life has been basically pretty damn boring for the most part.  Because I've been so damn busy at work by the time I get home all I want to do is veg out on the couch.  This is the first evening in two weeks, if not longer, that I've been on the computer other than to pay bills.

I'd say the most stimulating thing I've done in the last two weeks is mow the lawn.  And that's not being facetious.  Well, I guess I could take that back.  We had a few friends over the Saturday before Mother's Day and hung out but didn't do much other than that.  And on Mother's Day HD and I went over to my mom's and hung out with her for a short while.   Then came back home to make dinner for his mom and youngest sister and her baby and hang out with them for awhile.  His other sister was in Florida with his dad and stepmom going to Walt Disney World with his nephew.

There was a family brouhaha that happened the Thursday before that weekend that hasn't completely resolved itself yet but I can't write about it here.  Sorry, I'm doing this more for my own diary part of this whole site.  Suffice it say that there's much heartache and headache going on.  But HD and I are going to be the supporting big brother and sister that we always are.  Oh yeah, we're ok, the brouhaha isn't us.  Although it did cause us to argue but that's almost a given since it involves extended family members and finances which is almost never a good mix.  Ok, that's it, enough said.  I'm just going to make my migraine that much worse.

I had to take a pill this past Friday and Saturday nights and now it seems I might have to take another one tonight.  I really don't want to though.  I'm so tired of taking medicine.  UGH!!

Ok, I'm done for now.   Maybe I won't go so long next time.  We shall see.

Hate, hate, hate migraines! That's all I'm gonna say about that.
____________________

So, this weekend went well. Friday after work I went home and got HDiTty up out of bed and we went over to his coworkers house to take over a blueberry fluff and visit him and his family. His mother had passed away the previous Saturday so we were paying our condolences. We hung out there for a good 2 1/2 hours or so and then headed out to a bar to meet another coworker of his for her birthday. Other than eating a slice of the blueberry fluff neither of us had eaten anything. So I was really hoping to get something to eat but by the time we got there she and the rest of the people were in a room where the band was going to be playing so there was no chance of me even finding out if there'd be food to eat or not. They had already eaten earlier so they were doing just fine. Oh well.

So HD and I ordered a couple drinks and proceeded to drink on empty stomachs. HEE! No one had any idea as to who the band was going to be so that was interesting. At least, that seems to be my memory as of right now anyway. I know HD didn't know anyway.

Turns out it was an 80's tribute band called
Sixteen Candles. Now I had mentioned in my post from awhile back that I don't feel like doing the linking of right now, that I wasn't a huge 80's music fan even while growing up then. At least, not of the pop music of the time unless it was of the hair band variety that is. There were some of course, I wasn't completely hopeless and snobby, but yeah, for the most part couldn't stand most anything that was on the top 40 list. And I'll admit I didn't even know of the punk/alternative/emo bands such as Erasure or The Cure. Actually I did learn of the The Cure my senior year when I met Sharon. Annnnywaaaay...

I was still looking forward to them though. I'd rather listen to music that I know from a band that I don't than music I don't from a band I know "of" even if it's music I don't care for, if that makes sense. I don't remember what they started with but I do know it was one I didn't care for and it seems to me the second song was the same way but the third song was one I liked - Radio Killed the Video Star - love that song. So that's when I started keeping count. I should've counted how many songs they played but I didn't. It was probably at least 12 to 15 though and out of those there were 6 I officially liked and 2 that I were ok with so I counted them as a total of 1. So it was close to half of the songs which really isn't bad really. Turns out I liked more than I thought I would.

And I have to give the singer credit in the fact that he didn't shy away from the female singer songs. And he did them justice too. The whole band did great. But I still couldn't get into songs I didn't care for though, sorry Duran Duran (don't hate just don't care for) and whoever sings Jenny Jenny 8675309 (hate, hate, HATE!).

I was glad when they did Dancing with Myself by Billy Idol rather than White Wedding or Rebel Yell. Although I like those two songs they're the more popular of the three so therefore it was more surprising and good to hear Dancing.

At midnight they took a break and HD and I decided to leave. We were pretty darn hungry by then and my legs were hurting from all the standing. I am an old lady dont'cha know. I told him more than once I was ok with staying since I knew he was enjoying more of the songs than I was but he was ok with going so we went. I'd definitely like to see their whole set though. There was no Bon Jovi or Def Leppard or Tears for Fears or, or, or so I can only imagine how many more songs they could've gotten into.

Saturday Jim came over. His birthday was the 21st so we had him come over for a good steak dinner (he has them even less than we do) and to hang out. We gave him a bottle of Rumplemintz (sp?) also. HD decided we should do a shot for each of our birthdays since we each just had one: he in February, me in March and Jim this month. HD likes Southern Comfort, I like Jagermeister (sp?) and Jim the Rumplemintz. So Jim and I were thinking we'd take one of the drink we like but HD says no, we take one of each in the order of the birthdays. So we took 3 shots all before eating. It was 7:30pm when we did this, I hadn't eaten since 10:30 that morning, my stomach was growling big time by this time let me tell you! I thought for sure I was gonna upchuck but luckily I didn't. Hell, as we're preparing everything he comes in from grilling the steaks and says it's time to do one more so we each do one of our favorite and I still kept it all down. Phew!

While eating we watched Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem since Jim hasn't seen it and we haven't since it was in the theaters. I had one more shot after dinner but HD said he was starting to get tired so he didn't want anymore 'cause it would just make him more so and Jim was starting to feel a bit off so he didn't want to. Bunch of fuddy duddies I say.

After the movie since the evening was for Jim we let him choose what we'd do next and he chose to play poker so we played Texas Hold'em. Winner would get to choose what we'd do next. I went out first and during their heads up Jim started to get a migraine. He took some of my Excedrin Migraine and whenever he was waiting on HD to play he'd lean back on the couch and relax. Luckily he took the medicine early enough that it started to work right away. It never went away fully so after the game was over (HD won) we packed it up for the night and decided the next time we got together HD would make the decision on what we'd do.

Sunday we slept in. Then HD had to go in to work for four hours overtime. I mostly read and watched a little tv. Then paid some bills. In the evening one of the chicks that went to Mexico and is in his most recent Spanish class with him came over. They're doing an extra credit assignment together. While they worked on that I finished up paying the bills and then read some more while also chit chatting.

So that was our busy but very fun weekend. Too bad the start of my week had to be ruined by the damn migraine. HATE I tell you. HATE!

Free thought writing

I so don't feel like working anymore. I mean, not. at. all. None. Why do I have to work? Hmmm?

Oh yeah, because we have bills to pay and a house to keep. Oh well, I guess I'll be heading back there tomorrow.

I need a vacation. That's gotta be it. I haven't been on one in too damn long. I believe I've written all of this before. That's how bad it is.

You know what's a cute movie? Baby Boom, it's one of those movies that if it's on I'll watch it all the way through. I just watched it and the channel is playing an encore right now and since nothing else is on and I don't feel like turning off the tv right now I've decided to leave it on until I'm done. There's parts of Diane Keaton that make me think of my mother-in-law.

Speaking of my MIL, she came over yesterday to watch 300 because HD and I have been wanting to see Meet the Spartans and she was going to come with and had never seen it. I really didn't expect her to like 300 but she did. And of course Meet the Spartans was as dumb as a rock but there were some pretty funny parts. A few minutes into the end credits they were interrupted and some extra footage was played which I'd say was actually more funny than most of the movie. Especially the part where the king pushed the Dean Cook guy into the pit, that was pretty darn awesome!

That baby is just too damn adorable for it's own good. The baby in Baby Boom that is. Apparently the twin babies who played Elizabeth have done nothing but the movie and the tv show according to IMDB.com

We also saw the Spiderwick Chronicles this weekend. I had read the books when they first came out and when I read in Entertainment Weekly that a movie was being made I was really excited. HD hadn't read the books and neither had his dad and stepmom. It's a good thing I didn't reread them for a refresher or I would've been pissed. I'd say the movie was only 40% of the books. I kept trying to remember what would be coming up next and some things I could but some things that I knew should've weren't. Oh well, as I said, I don't remember enough so I was able to enjoy the movie for itself. It was pretty good, nothing spectacular but for a kids' flick it was good. And especially since we didn't have to pay for it and his dad only had to pay matinee (is that right? oh well, too tired to care right now) prices all things worked out well. I believe everyone else enjoyed it, felt pretty much how I did.

Damn, that James Spader is just a baby in this movie. Which is actually pretty funny considering he's 27 at the time. But he looks like he's 17 which is how old I was when it came out. Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. He was 27 playing a teenager in all those teenager movies in the mid to late 80's. Oh who the hell am I kidding it happens all the time. It happened then and it still happens. He's just one that could actually get away with it. Too a point that is. I always figured he was older than me but I didn't think 10 years! Damn!

I bought a daily planner type book to keep track of my headaches or lack there of but it's still in the bag. I can't seem to make myself start writing in it. I don't know why? I thought for sure once I got it I'd start right in. Although I don't know why I would think that but I did. It's too late to start tonight as it's 9:55 already. Oh well, there's always tomorrow right? Right.

No pain

As of 7:45 am on Wednesday the 13th I am headache free. I'm not holding my breath.

EDIT: It's now 9:35 pm and I'm still headache free. I'm so happy it's unreal. There were a couple times that some smells caused some small pain to happen but it didn't last but a few minutes each time.

I'm really exhausted right now so I"m gonna go to bed and hopefully have a good nights sleep and be pain free tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Love it, but sick of it

As mentioned the other day yesterday was HDiTty's birthday. He almost had to go into work but luckily his partner took the overtime. He'll owe her but that's ok. His best friend met us at our house and then we drove out to meet some other friends from his work at Buffalo Wild Wings to have some drinks and food. I had 1/2 a long island before I passed it over to him to finish. For one thing I hadn't had anything to eat for 8 hours and it was already hitting me pretty good and the other I still have a headache and figured I shouldn't be drinking on top of it.

Yeah, every single day I've had aches in the head. They're not going away. I asked the doc if I was going to have to live with this pain and he told me no, we'd figure it out. But I'm starting to doubt. I'm still taking my preventative though because I'm a good girl. Ok, I'm done talking about my head. Ha! Who am I kidding. Although I'm sick and tired of it, it is my life right now so I know I'll talk about it again.

I forgot to tell ya'll what happened over the weekend. Our TV went out. Yep, no TV for us for a few more days at least. I was watching a movie (Independence Day) and it wasn't quite over with when I had to go get HD up for work so I paused it. Now keep in mind we pause the darn thing all the time whether it's the Tivo or DVD so I know it wasn't from doing that. I stay upstairs with him while he's getting ready but I have to go back down to get his work shirt and I notice the screen is black. I don't think anything of it. But then I have to go back down again because I forgot his t-shirt and this time it registers in my little peanut head brain that instead of seeing the president shaking hands with his adoring public after bringing down the bad guys I'm seeing a big huge black screen. I go upstairs and ask HD if he remembers that ever happening on pause before. He says no but reminds me that sometimes when we pause the DVD it does "lose" the "connection" after awhile. But if it does it goes back to regular TV not to black screen, at least that I can remember. And if it did go to a black screen then there was at least sound. There was nothing, just a black screen and instead of the green light stating our screen was on there was a red light like it had turned off.

So I sent him off to work with the idea I'd look into it after he was gone. I turned it off and on several times and each time I turned it back on there was this "keening" sound that was emitting from the TV. The green light would flash like it was going to come on but instead of going solid it would go off and a few inches to the left a red light would then flash. Turns out that red light was the lamp indicator. Yep, our lamp had burnt out. So $200.00 and a couple days wait we should have it back in working order.

Apparently we're lucky though. From what we've both heard/read these lamps tend to go out within 120 days of purchase quite often. We've had our TV for at least 3 years and 4 months. So yeah, we've had it way longer than 120 days.

Snow, snow, snow and more snow. I love it but I'm really really tired of it. It's been snowing all day today but luckily it's been really light so it's been close to no accumulation. But still, come on, it's time to stop. And according to yahoo's weather report it's supposed to do the same kind of thing on and off for the rest of the week. UGH

Media quote of the day: Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day! - President Thomas Whitmore - Independence Day

Wishy Washy

EDIT: I've started and stopped this entry 2 or 3 times now but I think I'm finally gonna get it finished and posted tonight. (Sunday the 10th that is)

So sure enough the doc put me on a preventative. I'm on Topamax. It's actually an epileptic pill but they found it works for migraines. I'm on 25mg a day right now and will work my way up to 100mg a day by week four.

I went back to work after the appointment although on the way back the pain was getting worse so I really shouldn't have. I lasted until around 2:45 when the spikes started back up. But this time they were throughout my whole forehead area not just my temple. It took me just over an hour to get home because it had started to snow AGAIN. It made the road just slick enough that the dumbasses who don't know how to drive were causing problems for the rest of us. It snowed pretty good for about two hours and then stopped until Wednesday. But that two hours caused all kinds of problems on the roads because it was a sloppy and icy mess. HDiTty had class that night and it took him close to an hour to get to it and it normally would only be about a 1/2 hour or so.

I was in bed before 9pm and although I didn't expect to fall asleep I did and except for when he called me to tell me he was out of class and on his way to work I think I only woke up twice until my alarm went off the next morning. Woke up with the migraine still there so I waited until 6ish when I felt it was ok to call bosslady and bossman to let them know I wouldn't be in. Took an Imitrex and went back to bed. It wasn't just still there either, it was actually worse.

But then HD got home about an hour or so, maybe a little less than that, later and wanted me to get up with him. I realized I couldn't sleep anymore anyway so I got up. I rested on the couch while he played on the computer while we watched some shows. A few hours later he went to bed and some time between 1:30 and 2:00 I laid down on the couch and fell asleep for several hours. It did me a world of good because the pain was pretty much nonexistent when I got up.

BUT, by 10:30/11:00 some pain was back. I really didn't want to take another Imitrex so I didn't, it wasn't quite that bad. I was able to fall asleep almost right away. I did go into work on Thursday and although I was in pain I stayed. It was doable. There were times that I wished I weren't there but for the most part I was glad I went in. But I did get some food on the way home, get there eat it, take an Imitrex and the Topamax, take a nice long hot bath and then go to bed. I was lying down by 8:45 and it felt wonderful. I didn't think I'd fall asleep for awhile but once again I surprised myself and did.

I woke a few times with Cry Baby literally lying across my head and/or face purring to beat the band. And although I couldn't breathe very well the purring actually felt pretty good on my head. But I did have to push him off so I could breathe easier. The last time I woke up, just before my alarm went off, I was on my left side with him across my neck. His head was resting on my chin. He amazes me sometimes.

I was completely pain free while getting ready and for most of my ride in. But, alas, with 10 minutes left to go I started feeling the tightness in my forehead that I sometimes get before I get one. As the day went on it ebbed and flowed. It never got real bad so that was good. But by evening it was bad enough that I took another Imitrex. I only have 3 left in the pack to go before the doc will have to give me another prescription.

I need to get some kind of booklet or day calendar or something to keep a diary of all of this. I had started to do it in word but I didn't keep it up. I think if I have something small enough that I can keep in my purse but sill have enough room for each day for a decent description I'd be more apt to keep up with it.

We got another 9.7 inches dumped on us on Wednesday. I'm glad I stayed home. I don't remember any other winter like this. I think we've seen the ground 2 weeks total this whole winter. From December 1 we've just kept getting snow storm after snow storm. This last one broke a few tree limbs on our pine trees. And this weekend, although sunny and pretty the wind chill is deadly. The temperature was only 1 degree while I was out from 3:30 to 5:00 today.

Yes, silly me went out in it to go get HD a birthday card. He turns 37 tomorrow. We'll be the same age for 22 days then I'll be turning the ripe old age of 38 on March 4th. He is not the easiest person to buy for. Well, he is but he isn't. If it's Saints related or Fleur-de-Lis related you're pretty much a go but a person doesn't have much luck with either of those around these here parts.

And since I am the Queen of Procrastination it's a little too late to order anything online. So I told him we'll have to go to Best Buy or something like that together where he can choose something for himself. Because there's no way in hell I'm going to try to get him something computer related. Hell, I know he wants a phone ear piece thingy but he's so damn wishy washy he can't make up his mind which one he wants and you think I'm going to buy him one on my own? You're crazy!

All right, I'm tired and my head has that tightening feeling going on so I'm thinking I should go to bed in hopes that a good nights rest will do me some good. Wishful thinking I know but so be it.

I HATE MY HEAD!!

So yeah, more friggen' headaches. Except for Saturday I've had a headache/migraine everyday again for the last two weeks. All last week I took either Motrin, Excedrin Migraine, Aleve or the Imitrex. Saturday I was ecstatic that I had no pain but it came back on Sunday. I took 2 Motrin around 2ish and a 3rd around 4ish. The pain was basically gone by nighttime. But on Monday when it was back but not real strong, more annoying than anything, I figured that it was BECAUSE of all the medicine I had been taking. That it was a residual headache. So I didn't take anything at all Monday or Tuesday even though on Tuesday it got worse as the day went on.

Yesterday as the morning progressed it got really bad, migraine bad. So I called my neurologist to make an appointment and luckily they had a cancellation at 1:15 so I said I'd take it. Let my bossman know I'd stick around until it was time to leave to make it there and afterward I was going home to rest.

I let Dr Neurologist know that I figured the stuff going on last week was either weather and/or hormone related because our weather was all over the place and I was on my period. I also let him know that I figured the ones from this week were more due to all the drugs I had been taking before. He agreed with me that it could have been any one, any mixture or all of them combined.

So he gave me another prescription for the steroid that I had taken last time I had headaches for 2 weeks straight to break the cycle once again. For those of you who don't remember or didn't see the post from before it's a 6 day medicine. I take 6 the 1st day then 5 the 2nd and so until I'm down to 1 on the 6th day. He said that if this should happen again that he was going to put me on a preventative. He said he could tell from the look on my face that I didn't want to do that but he'd rather have me on that then going through daily headaches/migraines and then going on steroids to get rid of them again and again. I agreed with that more so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this doesn't happen again.

He asked if we had made a follow up last week and I reminded him that we did, for April 9th. He said to keep that date but of course to let him know if anything happens again like this. Said just one or even two, unless they're back to back, I don't have to worry about calling. Only if there's several in a row again.

So I took 3 of the dose of 6 when I got home and laid down on the couch to take a nap. Before bed I took the other 3. Today I feel better although I still have some pain. The head pain has mainly gone away but I've had forehead and sinus pain all day long. I keep rubbing my nose, from the top down both sides. It makes it feel better while doing it.

I've decided to work through it today but if the same type of pain is here tomorrow I'll call the pharmacist and ask if I can take a sinus medicine on top of it. I can't imagine not being able to but it's better to be safe then sorry. Oh damn, now that I'm writing this it seems to me I remember reading before that I can't take anything with acetaminophen in it and most if not all sinus medicine has that as an ingredient. Damn, I guess I'll have to check the paperwork when I get home to be sure.

On an up note, at least the 6 taken yesterday has made me feel a little better. Enough so that a couple people at work even commented that I sounded/looked a little better so that's good.

The pill is playing with my head

Man, so I've had either a migraine or just a headache every day this week until today. Actually, from what I've learned, it was probably the same migraine all three days since I hadn't taken my migraine medicine to actually knock it out. I only took Excedrin Migraine which didn't really help much. Luckily Monday's was manageable, more annoying than anything. Tuesday's was just regular headache pain that Aleve actually seemed to help with.

But yesterday's was the worst. I didn't have any pain in the morning. Which figured since yesterday was my follow up with the Neurologist. He looked at the MRI disk again just to be sure everything is good and it is. He said again that he thinks they're related to my hormones and the weather more than anything. He wants me to go back for another follow up in 3 months.

Monday both were a factor I believe. My period had started late Friday night but I didn't have any pain until Monday. But Monday the temperature was around 65 degrees and raining. Now actually on Sunday the temp had risen to the 60's but we played hermits and didn't leave the basement all day so I wasn't exposed to it at all. So yeah, I'm thinking hitting the warm weather, with it raining after such chilly/cold days played havoc and then on top of that having my period just made it a double whammy.

Anyway, about a half hour after leaving the dr's office my head started hurting again. Within an hour my eyes had gone blurry and the pain was worse. All I had was the Excedrin again so I took a couple of those. I wanted to leave work a few times but at the same time didn't want to so didn't. It sort of ebbed and flowed all day but finally around 9:30 I couldn't take it anymore and took an Immitrex.

I thought the one other time I took one my stomach got upset because I hadn't eaten most of the day and I took the pill only 15 minutes or so of finally eating. Turns out it wasn't because of that. Within 10 minutes of taking it last night my head actually hurt worse and also had a tightness feeling. Then my throat had the tightness. Then the top of my chest had the tightness. Then there was this strange pain like feeling just below and to the back of my left armpit. Then that shoulder felt kind of painful/tight. Then my stomach started to feel upset. But by that time the stronger pain in my head had gone away and it was back to the original pain.

I went to bed still feeling queasy but at least I was able to fall asleep right away. I had a really weird dream though. I know it took place at the house I grew up in but other than that I only remember walking from the garage to the house and as I was walking I picked up a man's wallet that was really thick. I flipped it open but a noise made me jump and I slammed it shut. I remember thinking that it must be the man's that had been missing for a couple days. I took it with me into the house and as I was walking in the back door HD came to bed and woke me up. The first thing I thought of is that now I'll never know the man's name or if he'll ever be found.

Unless I dream about it again. I have been known to have serial dreams. But what's weird is that I don't have the dreams consecutively. It could be days or even months before I have another one that coincides. But once I do I have a moment that I know I'm dreaming and that it's the next "part." I sort of had/have that feeling about this one but for once I'm not sure why. None of what I remember is familiar so I'm wondering if the parts I can't remember had something to do with another dream. Or the pill is just playing with my head. But I digress big time.

So in conclusion, although I felt worse after taking the pill it seems to have helped. So far so good today, no head pain. I'm hoping it stays that way.

Normal

3 1/2 hours after making my call I received a call back from one of the nurses. My results are "normal." That's it, she said nothing else. So I figure I'll give my regular doctor a call at some point and see if she can tell me anything else. I was told she'd get the results also so hopefully she can elaborate a little more. Although I'm not in a rush to make the call since all is ok.

On a lighter note. We went to see Beowulf last night. Went to the IMAX digital 3-D showing. That was pretty damn cool to see. The movie itself was pretty good, not as much action as I thought there'd be though. But I've never read the poem, not even a little bit, had no idea what the story was even about. But from what I've read in critiques the movie is extremely loosely based on the poem. Anyway, it was definitely good enough for a look see but not enough that I'd buy it when it's out on DVD. Not unless HD wants it that is.

Ok, gotta go.

No results - Update

My update is, there is no update! I called the office and since he has left his big time practice to go into his own practice there's some legal issues going on. Because my MRI was done before all ties were severed with the old office my information had to be given to them. I called them up and was told that "hopefully" my file is there and "hopefully" the results are in it. She'll pull the file and have one of the doctors give me a call back. There's something like 6 or 7 doctors in that office, ugh! So yeah, it's been 3 hours since I made that call and I haven't heard back from them yet.

So I was told that if the doc didn't call me I needed to call him in the afternoon. So after lunch time on Friday I called the house to see if there were any messages, there weren't. So I gave a call to the doctor's office and got their voice mail. Turns out they close at 11:00 on Fridays. So I haven't received any results yet. But no news is good news right?

So yeah, I'll be calling tomorrow morning to see what's going on. I'll try to get back here and update after I find out. Otherwise I'll get on here in the evening.

No media quote today.

MRI testing

So my MRI seemed to go pretty well. They called on Monday to say they needed me in there at 10:30, the appointment was for 11:00. Now I knew I'd have to be in a little early for the paperwork but a half hour seemed like a lot. Don't know why they needed me in there that early since it didn't even take me five minutes to fill out the paperwork. I was told not to wear any metal or plastics, they gave me a locker to put everything in. The night before I looked for a workout bra to wear but couldn't find one easily enough, they must be squirreled away somewhere. So I had to go braless. I had to wrap my hair up in what was essentially a paper shower cap and put ear plugs in. They taped my head down to help me keep it in place. And away I went. There was a constant knocking that seemed to come from my left side and up a little. Then when they were taking the photos there was a completely different type of knocking/clacking noise that basically came from behind and to the right. I was actually able to sort of zone out while it was going on. For as loud as it was I'm amazed I was able to. The neurologist had scheduled them to do contrasting photos. So for the first 15 minutes or so they took photos on and off and then they pulled me back out to do the injection for the contrasting photos.

They tried my left elbow first but apparently they couldn't get the vein so then they had to use my hand. That tiny little dot is all that happened. But here's what happened with my elbow. They told me there'd be "some bruising" but although I bruise easy I didn't expect this much. (Click on the photos for full view) So yeah, that was fun. I at first thought they had gotten it because I was feeling a warm sensation like fluid was coming into me but it must have just been the blood rushing in or just the pain of it. I don't know, just know it hurt for the rest of the afternoon in to the evening. Hell, the skin hurt too where I had to take off the tape for the small bandage they put on to stop the bleeding. The hand only hurt a little when the needle went in and when they took it out. I didn't want to go back to work after but I was out of there pretty early so I had no excuse not to go back. But it's a good thing since I don't have anymore vacation or sick time to take and I'm not getting paid for any time off until next year when it all renews itself. I should hear from the doc by tomorrow or Friday at the latest. If he doesn't call me I'll be calling him Friday afternoon. The tech didn't indicate one way or the other but she did say I was a model patient. I didn't move at all and the pictures were wonderful, nice and clear she said. They got, "some really great photos." So that in itself is pretty encouraging in my book.

Alrighty, I'm pretty damn tired so I'm gonna wrap this up and go to bed. Laters.
