Weekend Update 7/23-25/10

So the weekend went really well. Friday night we stayed home and just watched some tv since it was his weekend to work.

Saturday he went to work all day. I picked up LeRoy and we went to Wayne's house for his son's 14th birthday party. Normally the kids' parties are separated into a family party on one day and their friend's party on another. But they decided to combine them this time. He had about 6 friends over. They played volleyball and tag while we adults hung out on the patio watching 'em. They were very entertaining. It rained on us a few times but not hard and only for a few minutes each time. So we just pulled our chairs in under the table umbrella and waited it out each time.

LeRoy and I left a little after 8:00 to go help mom load up Les to take back to the rehab facility for the night. After they got him in the truck she asked if we'd go with her to take him back since she didn't know what staff would be there to help get him out and into his room so we went of course. Good thing since there wasn't anyone around to help out. As hard as it is to think it I believe it's just a matter of time now. He seems to have a more negative attitude than positive. Mom keeps trying to keep him upbeat and she's staying positive for the most part but I know it's taking a toll on her. And then last week she got the news that insurance isn't going to pay for the facility past Thursday the 29th. They decided, without sending anyone down to see him or talk to any of his doctor, that he's just fine to be able to go home. Although he can't walk on his own or go up and down stairs on his own and they don't have a ramp to get in & out of the house. The house is an open floor plan except for the bedrooms and the doors to those & the bathrooms are wide enough for a wheelchair so at least they've got that.

After saying goodbye we went back to Wayne's to hang out by the fire. His daughter was home from work so it was nice to see her as well. We finally left around 12:30ish. By the time I got home HDiTty was getting up to get ready to go in at 2:00 for a 16 hour day. I stayed up to help him get ready and then crashed right after he left.

I got up around 10:00ish, made myself some breakfast and then went to mow the lawn. But my Ipod mini was dead so I plugged it in to recharge and watched some more tv while waiting. Once it was done I headed out and mowed and weeded then went in and took a nice long hot bath to soak the muscles in hopes of not feeling too sore later on. Then for the rest of the day I watched more of season 2 of Grey's Anatomy and did load after load of laundry. HDT got home around 6:30 and I made burgers for us for dinner and continued to do laundry and watch Grey's while he played on the computer.

He had to get back up at 1:00am to go back in at 2:00 for 4 hours. I drank too much mountain dew throughout the day apparently because I couldn't fall asleep. I was still awake when he had to get up. I think I finally fell asleep close to 2:00. I woke up tired and sore but not too sore. My hamstrings are a little tight but my lower back hurts more. I think it's a cross between the bending over for the weeding and the twisting and turning while trying to sleep.

Great weekend

I think we had one of the best weekends we've had in a long time. It had just the right mix of activity and laziness. Friday after work we met at the movie theater and saw Aliens v. Predator - Requiem. We had tried to see back on New Year's Eve but the projector crapped out about 40 minutes in and they couldn't get it back up. This was a our local theater that we never go to unless all else fails. Looks like it'll be a cold day in hell before we go back again. Anyway, it was pretty good. Not as good as the first one but still good. After we went home and played some Texas' hold-em to determine who could pick what we were going to watch next. He won. Put in Four Rooms. If you like off beat humor you'll like this movie. Just make sure no kids are around. I like the movie but HDiTty loves it. Tim Roth and Antonio Banderas are the best people in it, although many others are pretty darn good too.

I was in bed by 2am, not sure what time he came to bed. I got up around 10:30 ish or so and by 11 I was soaking in the tub. He got up a little after noon and then we laid and even wrestled (and yes, I mean wrestled, that's not a euphemism for anything else) around for awhile until we had to get ready to leave. Stopped off at Target and got gifts for two of my nieces and then headed over to their father's house for their birthday party. We were there by 3:30, just before everyone else showed up but still late. Food was ready and on the table by 3:00. But then, it was all food that was ok with sitting out, it just got a little chilly is all. Around 7ish we started playing Apples to Apples Jr. Which was one of the gifts I had bought. We played until 11:45 when the 2nd game was finally over and we realized what time it was.

Got home and finished watching A Night's Tale, which we had started while eating a little bite before we had left to do the gift shopping earlier. I was in bed around 3, once again, don't know what time he came to bed. I woke up around 10:30 again but laid in bed snuggling with Cry Baby and Whiskers. When I finally got up I was hungry and going to make blueberry muffins. But the muffin mix I had bought a while back turned out to be unusable. I had left it out on the counter the day I bought it and Cry Baby at some point tore it up, but didn't realize it when I had put it away in the cabinet. So when I went to make it and saw all the holes in the bag I decided there's just no way I was gonna use it. Damn cat!

I ended up eating pretzels instead waiting for HD to wake up so we could have a proper breakfast. He didn't get up for a couple hours though. I was playing poker on line, losing and winning but nothing big either way. He finally got up around 2:00. A little bit later I let him get on the computer for awhile. And for the rest of the day we watched tv/movies, played on line, played cards with each other and general did much of nothing. It was really nice. At nine we watched some of the news and saw that it had been a basically nice day outside. Who knew, not us that's for sure. But that's ok, even if I had known it was nice I don't think we would've gone out.

I like weekends like that, we need them more often.

Weekend Update

Well we had a busy weekend. I guess it really started on Thursday. HDiTy had to work and I slept in some. After I got up I took a warm bath, read some of my book and then made myself stop reading so I'd start cleaning up and get to my mom's. One of my stepsisters and her two kids were there. Had a really good visit with them. My oldest brother showed up right on time. About 10 minutes or so after he got there dinner was ready. Had a really good dinner. Then I washed the dishes while my stepsister dried and my mom kept adding more and more dishes to the sink. Afterward we three, her daughter and my stepdad played some dominoes until HD got there.

We left after about 20 minutes or so to go to his grandma's house. Everyone but his mom had already left but that was ok. We had a nice visit with just the two of them. No drama or loudness to deal with.

I did have to go to work on Friday though, which sucked of course. But luckily we got out at 2:30. I planned on going home and grabbing HD and going out and raking the leaves. But a couple of the girls said they were going out for a drink or two and invited me along so I went. Two others got there a few minutes later. I ended up leaving for home at the same I normally would have if I'd stayed working. But the difference was spent having a good time and a couple drinks.

Got home with enough time to change out of the smelly clothes. Cigarettes really stink ya up don't cha know? Two of the girls smoke but even without them the rest of the place was pretty damn smoky. I even had HD spray Febreze in my hair since I didn't have enough time to wash it. We were meeting his dad and stepmom at the theater to see The Mist. That was really good. I haven't read the story but did listen to the cassette tape when I was a teenager. I can't remember anything about it so that was good. I had no idea what to expect. I can't wait for the DVD to get all the extras. His stepmom was joking about having nightmares and we told her we were going to see Bee Movie and invited them along for that one. We had a little time before it started so we played some air hockey. HD beat his dad, then me but barely. So his stepmom then played him and then beat him. Granted he knocked a couple in himself but a win is a win. Bee Movie was ok but nowhere near as good as I expected it to be after all the hype. I doubt I'll buy that one. Probably get it through Netflix at least to see the extras though.

Saturday we slept in a little. I got up around 10:30 or so, although I'd been awake for a good half hour before that because of Cry Baby. He wouldn't leave me alone begging for attention. Finally I got up and decided to take a nice warm bath and read my book. I love soaking in the tub and reading. Problem is when I'm as close to the end of the book as I was I end up staying in longer than I should. Long enough that I had to let half the water out and run some more hot water so I could finish the book and then clean up.

After I went and woke up HD and told him he needed to get up. He was supposed to work overtime that night. Going in at 10pm and working til 6am. I didn't want him to sleep too late because I wanted him tired enough to come home for a nap before the game at 12 because after that we had to rake leaves. Plus we had a birthday party to go to for one of my nieces and nephews. Her Birthday was on Thanksgiving and his was on Friday so their parents decided to have their party together on Saturday. We had to stop at the store on the way to get their cards. They each got money for the gift. Stuck around there until 7ish and then finally left to go home. On our way to the party he went to look something up on his phone and saw that he had a text message from his partner saying she'd take his overtime if he wanted to give it up. He did so she did and I was happy he didn't have to go to work.

When we got home we watched The Number 23 that we've been having for a couple weeks now. It was pretty good, better than what I remember everyone saying it was or wasn't, however you want to say it. It wasn't fast paced at all so maybe that's why people had a problem with it. Then we watched a few of the shows we had recorded over the past week.

Sunday I was awake again around 10 and finally got up around 10:30. Watched an episode of Ghost Hunters and then went to wake up HD to watch the game. Saints won!!! Woo hoo!!! They looked again like the team we know them to be. Right after we went outside to get rid of the leaves in the back yard. The leaf blower kept stopping on HD. I was raking the leaves onto a tarp and hauling them out the street while he was fighting with the blower. It'd work for awhile and then stop on him. He cleaned the air filter at one point and it worked for a good while after that and then all of a sudden just quit. About a third of the way done it started to rain, or maybe sleet. It was these tiny drops of moisture that I couldn't really see, barely felt but heard them as they hit the leaves. It didn't help much, especially since a lot of them were already wet and heavy because of the tiny snow fall we had on Wednesday. In the shaded parts of the lawn the snow was still there.

After we were done I immediately took a nice long hot bath to relax. HD was watching the Bears game and I got there to see the last 2 1/2 minutes of the main game to see them come back and tie and then go into overtime and win it. Nice to see that.

Watched a few more taped shows, did some laundry and then finally fell into bed around 11:45 or so.

HD is sore today from doing the leaves. I think the only reason I'm not is because of my bath. I mean, I was sore and stiff last night but by this morning I was fine.

So that was my busy weekend. This coming weekend should be fairly relaxed. Other than a Surprise Party that I should go to on Saturday I have no plans.

Nice Shot Man

The birthday party for the owner's 75th B-day was pretty good. It was basically like a wedding reception. There were a bunch of round tables set very nicely. Most everyone was dressed nicely. There were a few people in jeans but even so their tops were still nice. There was a band that was playing "band" music, you know, stuff from the 30's, 40's & 50's. He and his wife were both thoroughly surprised. Everyone was wondering how the sons (the two guys who basically run the company) were getting them there since it was in one of the banquet rooms of The Holiday Inn. One of the sons has his own son who's school has auctions to raise money. He told his dad that they needed to stop in on the auction for about a half hour or so and then they'd go to dinner. I think that's an excellent ruse.

My nieces birthday party was also nice. I ended up having to go and get her a different gift since one of my brothers had bought the same one. Although I bought mine first it would be easier for me to exchange it since we didn't find out until 9pm on Saturday and I definitely would be waking up earlier than him. She's all happy since she got the Hanna Montana 2 cd (the same gift) and High School Musical: The Concert DVD (from me) and some cash to get High School Musical 2 when it comes out in August.

HD and I have been talking every day. We got a month long plan on each our phones so we can direct connect as much as we want without being charged minutes. We've tried doing the video chat and speaker chat a few times now but it just doesn't want to work for us. The speaker chat worked one night but that's it. I'll be taking back the camera soon, get our money back.

So, remember me saying I know how to use the gun that will be by my side the whole time I'm home alone? Yeah, here's the proof.

Click on the image for a larger, more detailed view.

H Ditty and I went to the station and had one of the cops that actually teaches proper usage to other cops show me how. As you can see up in the corner that's where he shot to test the sight on the gun. Mine are the ones in the body area and H Ditty's are the ones in the head and neck. Sure, none of mine hit the X but that's ok, many came very near it. And besides, every single one of them are body shots and also that's from a full 7 yards away. There's only one spot in my whole house that would come close to that and that's if we were standing on opposite sides of the basement. My house is tiny (as any of you who've seen the snow pictures have seen) so therefore me and the asshole who broke into it will be only feet apart so they'd be much more accurate then. Of course, that's barring the fact that when it would actually come right down to it I'd be able to do it. I feel like I could, I believe I could but one never knows until they're actually in that situation. Which I hope to never be.

Anyway, I think I did damn good for it being my first time ever for shooting a real gun.

Yay!! Go USA. I turned on the tv and it's on ESPN which is showing the World Cup Final of women's softball (they look like maybe college age). It's the US against Japan and one of the US girls just hit a home run. Too bad there wasn't anyone else on base.

Alrighty, I'm heading out since it's getting close to the time he's been calling and I want to do a few things before he does.

Oooh, speaking of X-Files, I'm so excited. I heard on the radio earlier today that they're finally go ahead with the next movie. It's about damn time!!
