How hard is to wipe a counter down? I mean Really!

So I don't get the women in my office building.  We have several businesses on our floor that all use the same bathroom.

I couldn't tell you how many times I go in there and the counter around the sink is all wet.

Really?  You can't wipe down the excess water after you're done?  Really?

At least the rest of the bathroom is clean.

Oh wait, not quite.

They also can't get their paper towels into the wastebasket.  Which is really really sad considering it's an open trash can.  And it's a wide one at that.

UGH!

Although, admittedly, the paper towels in the garbage can isn't nearly as bad as the water.  They've gone whole weeks with getting them in there.  But still....

Little bit of this and a little bit of that

So we went ahead and upgraded our cell phones to the 4s.  We also got one for his mom (she paid us back) and added her to our plan.  HDiTty has been having fun playing with Siri.  I on the other hand keep forgetting she's there so haven't used her once.  Oh well, I'm sure I will one of these days.

While we were at the Apple store I looked at the cases they had and didn't find anything I liked for myself but found a perfect one for his mom.  She loves all things Paris, France related.  They have a cover that's a black and white picture of the Eiffel Tower and then has a little green VW bug parked in front.  I showed it to HDT to see if he thought she'd like it since I wasn't so sure about it 'cause of the bug.  He thought she would so we bought it as well.

He went over to her place to help her set the phone up and she gave me a call to let me know she was excited that we got the phone (she thought it wouldn't be for a little while longer) and also to thank me for the cover.  She said she loved it and although it was a little green bug and not a little blue mini cooper she was just fine with it.  That it was close enough.  So that made me happy.

We STILL haven't done anything more in the kitchen.  We have such good intentions but are just lazy about it.  One day we'll get there.  The good thing is is that we don't plan on moving any time soon, if ever, so there's no rush.

My job is still going good.  I'm liking it a whole lot.  Totally different from what I used to do and every now and then I feel a little worried that I'm gonna screw something up but at least those thoughts are fleeting.

We'll be moving to a new building this summer and from the little bit I've heard it sounds like we're all going to have our own offices.  Which if that's the case, YIPPEE.  I don't mind too much being out in the middle of everything but there are days that it gets old.

We shall see.

We saw The Hunger Games on Saturday.  Went with Jim, his sister and her husband.  We both very much enjoyed it.  Now I feel compelled to go get the books and read 'em before the next one comes out.  The whole way home we're all asking Wendy questions since she's the only one who's read 'em.  My big question was was she disappointed with any of the changes.  She said no.  They of course left out some things that she would've liked to have seen but understands that it was for time and they weren't necessary for story to be understood.  Also that Rue was slightly bigger than expected since she's described as small like Prim.  But that didn't really bother her per se just that she didn't expect it.  Although, truthfully, I'd have to see the two girls standing side by side to see a difference because I didn't see where Rue was all that much bigger than Prim.  Ah well.

With all the hate that's being thrown out there about Rue and Thresh being black I was very happy that she didn't say anything at all about the color of her skin.  Not that I knew about any of the hateful stuff before we went.  But after reading the Jezebel site I recalled what she said and it was only about her size, nothing about her being black.

New Job - Finally

So, yeah, it's been a pretty long time since I posted last. Him, 9/11 to be exact and then I only reposted my entries on Brendan Dolan and Douglas Ketchum. My last real post was in August stating that it sucks to be me since I was out of work again.  I, along with at least one other girl, was laid off on June 3, 2011.  I didn't get another job until Jan. 4, 2012.  Yep, that sucked big time.  But I had unemployment and that helped at least.

In all that time I only got 2 other interviews.  One came fairly quickly after loosing my job but I knew it wouldn't be the place for me so was actually happy I didn't get a call back.  The next place I had to work at getting interviews, won't go into all the boring details here but it was a hassle.  But even still I would've liked to have worked there I think.  It was a tiny office which I like.  Would've just been me, the girl I'd be working for/with and two project managers.  It was a satellite office.  Unfortunately the VP of the company decided that rather than hiring someone to help with the work load the corporate office would just take over running some of the projects for them.

It was another couple months before I got the interview for the place I'm at now.  And so far so good.  It's not in construction so that's a bit weird.  Well, not "true" construction anyway.  I work for a company that installs and dismantles the "booths" at trade shows.  Yep, never knew that kind of place existed either.  Always thought that the company of the product just did it themselves.  Who knew?

But I'm liking the position.  I've gotten back into helping out with accounts payable and payroll while still working in receivables.  Although we have an outside company doing the payroll we still have to audit what they do to make sure it's all completed correctly and we also distribute the checks.  And the receivables is a bit weird for me as well.  I don't actually do the billings like I used to do.  I only enter them in Quickbooks after someone else does the actual preparing and sending out of the invoice.  I also don't do collections, someone else handles that as well.  Also, when the checks come in she collects them, works up a spreadsheet and then hands them over to me to make the deposit and enter the payments into Quickbooks.  I'm liking all this.  For once it's not on me if an invoice goes out incorrectly and it's not on me to have to hound the company for payment.  Yep, much nicer.

It's also a small office, which I like as mentioned before.  We're split into two floors but only because the office I'm in doesn't fit everyone.  There are 8 of us upstairs and 4.5 in the basement.  The .5 is a part timer, she's only there four hours a day.  So that's all the office people but there are a ton of guys out in the field throughout the US working at all these trade shows.  We also set up retail stores for companies if they'd like.  But we're looking to relocate, luckily still in the same town we're in.  Right now I only drive about 8 miles (one way) straight down the highway.  We live just off the highway and the office is just off the highway on the same side.  Nice shot.  Not as nice as the last place only being 1.2 miles from door to door but still really nice.  But the new place won't be quite as straight a shot but it'll at least be close still.

So other than the new job everything else is still going as normal.  My brothers are still coming over for each UFC fight night.  HDiTty is still at his 911/Communications Officer job.  19 years this January.  As a matter of fact my first day of work was his 19th anniversary there.  I find that kinda geeky cool really.  The two kitties are still around, going strong for getting up there in years.  11 1/2 now.  And the puppy will be four this April.

There are a couple other items I'll be writing about but I'll save them for another update.  I'm going to try to go back to a daily post or at least multiple times a week posts.  I'm also going to get back on my other site  theseweightlossgames and get back to playing those damn games.  UGH!

No media quote this time.

I don't wanna be a bum

So yesterday was Fat Tuesday and a few weeks ago I ordered two King Cakes from a bakery (which will go unnamed) in New Orleans to have shipped to me here in Illinois for delivery on Monday.  They came and I was very happy that I didn't have to do the frosting and the sugar as I have had to do with cakes in the past.

I got into work and proceeded to make a nice set up on one of the tables in the kitchen.  Each of the cakes came with several beads, doubloons, a packet chicory coffee and a booklet about Mardi Gras. I decorated around both cakes with them all.  Angry with myself that I didn't take a picture of it; it looked really nice too.  Anyway, everyone who had a piece liked it so that was good.

But I was very disappointed because one of them was supposed to be filled with german chocolate filling.  It was even labeled as such so I know the bakery knew it was supposed to be.  But there wasn't one part of it that was filled.  Not. One. Bit.  The top was a little different than the other one.  It had some kind of topping with chopped nuts thrown in on it.  But no filling.  We of course still ate it and still enjoyed it but still.

So at the end of the work day yesterday I sent the bakery an email letting them know the situation.  I also sent them pictures to back it up.  It's been almost 24 hours since and I haven't received a reply.  I have a feeling I won't be getting one.

I feel the same way that I did at Christmas time about the tree, I'm not expecting them to do anything about it but it sure would be nice to receive an apology at least.  But I'm not getting my hopes up, that's for sure.  At least it didn't cost more than the plain one.

But what actually bugs me even more than the mix up and not hearing back from them is that someone (and I believe I know who) threw the last few pieces of it away.  When I was writing the email I figured I should send a picture of the label showing that it should be a chocolate filled caked.  So I go into the kitchen and grab it and scan it in.  Then as I'm writing some more I think, well I'll send them a picture to show what I'm talking about.  So I go back to the kitchen to take the pictures (only about 4 minutes since the last time I was in there) and the table is cleared off.  No cake.  I open the fridge thinking this person wrapped the last few pieces up and put them away.  Nope, fridge is empty of cake.  I look around on the counter. Nope, counter is empty of cake.  The boxes they came in are still on top of the cabinets exactly where I had just put them minutes before.  So, I look in the garbage and there they are sitting as pretty as can be right on top.  I had to take the one piece out to get the pictures.

It just pisses me off.  As mentioned they knew who brought them why the hell not come and ask me if I'd like to take the last bit home?  Hell, why not just wrap them up and put 'em in the fridge?  Why the hell ya gotta throw 'em away?  They were $45.00 a piece, not that they knew that but still!!!  As I told HDT, I could have taken them out and taken them home.  They were still on top of the cardboard that they were shipped on with nothing else surrounding them.  It's not like they were contaminated in any way.  But it's still knowing they were taken back out of the garbage can that would be bugging me about it all.  It'd be George Castanza all over again.  No thank you.

Finally, an update, can you believe it!?!

So it's basically been ages. How ya'll doing, good I hope. I've been busy as all hell at work. I used to be able to catch a break and go to a site or two every now and then here and there so I'd be able to keep up with a few of my most favorite sites but not for the last couple weeks now. And obviously not with my own site. By the time I get home I don't want to even think about getting on the computer to do anything so I don't. But I decided I better do so tonight. I've been feeling guilty.

So yeah, we've been needing a new roof now for over a year and we finally saved up enough to do it this spring. Got a few quotes and decided to go with the middle quote. Looks great. HD took several pictures of the old roof but I don't think he's taken any of the new one yet. As soon as he's done so I'll post 'em to show the difference. You know, for posterity's sake. I really like, it's a much lighter color than the one we had before, it goes much better with the frames around the window.

As also mentioned last post my tire blew on my way home from work a couple weeks ago. I had been battling a migraine again for a couple days and bosslady decided to send me home early since she was taking the next day off so I had to be there. She wanted me as rested as possible with the hopes of no pain. So I'm on my way home when my right front tire goes. I was able to turn into a parking lot of a landscape nursery. I tried calling HD to see if he'd be able to come out and help me but he wasn't answering the home phone nor his cell. But I didn't really expect him to as he'd been up the night before and most of the day already. So I ended up calling the number of the 24hr road side assistant sticker that's on my window. They were out there in less than a half hour.

The lady on the phone had asked if I had a good spare tire and I told her I had no idea, that my truck is going on 5 years old and I've never even looked at the thing. So she wants to know if I want a tow or change. I told her I didn't know which one I'd need as I didn't know if my tire would be any good and she says they can only do one or the other. I says to her, "You mean to say, you can only send one kind of truck out with one kind of guy out? He can either tow it with a tow truck or you'll send a completely different kind of guy with a completely different kind of truck that can only change it?" and she actually answered yes. Unreal. So I asked if a tow would be more expensive and she again answered yes so I said let's change it and we'll go from there. Luckily the spare was still good, at least for the most part. It was pretty damn flat itself but it had enough to get me up the street to the gas station so I could fill it up with gas. Since the guy that came out to change a FLAT TIRE didn't have a WORKING pump. He actually said that to me. "You'll have to make sure to go to the nearest gas station to fill it up since my tire pump isn't working right now." UGH!!

Anyway! So I had the doughnut going for a few days but on HD's day off I took his truck into work and he took my truck into Sam's club and got me a whole new set of tires. The good kind too. They repel the water as I'm driving along the road. We went for 100% better 80% less noise as opposed to 100%less noise and 80% better. Can always turn up the music.

And last but so not least. Work is really sucking it big time right now. We're busy but we're not if that makes any sense. As a refresher for some and for any newbies, I'm in the construction business, working for a commercial roofing contractor. My company is still playing catch up from the shitty winter and rainy spring we had so as far as the actual work is going we're just now getting into it. But because we 3 in the A/R department haven't had "much to do" upper management has decided we need to do certain things and they're basically riding our asses about it and it's driving we 3 up the fricken wall.

And then to top it off, the weekend before, bosslady was at Summerfest and slipped and fell and hurt her back. She ended up at home all last week with a metal brace wrapped around her midsection. She had to ice and heat it 3 times a day for an hour each time. So while she was away I had to do any of the things she would normally do (such as daily reports, etc) and both new girl and I had to cover any of her projects that had payments coming in. Plus of course do our work. I was there until at least 6:30 every night including Thursday just trying to keep up.

I am glad that bossman and also extreme bossman (one of the brothers - owners) thanked us and let us know that we did a good job. I didn't expect, never even crossed my mind, to get a thanks or anything of the sort from bosslady. But it of course would have been nice and very much appreciated. Instead, yesterday I get the following:

On Thursday morning an accountant from a general contractor calls up about one of bosslady's accounts saying they're going to have to cut her June billing. Two items will need to be cut down to zero percent and the other two items down from 100% to 80%. I completely forgot to let our project managers know and get their approval which means I didn't get the invoice revised and sent back to the GC. Yesterday morning bosslady is in a meeting with bossman, extreme bossman and a few other people and she calls up to my extension and asks if I had taken care of that invoice. I actually have to look it up in the computer because I can't remember if I did or didn't do it because of how crazy Thursday had gotten. Turns out I didn't do it and I tell her I'll take care of it right then and there. So she says to me, "You should have done that last Thursday, you really needed to talk to Cr*** and get it done then. Well, you'll just have to do it right now." So I said, "I will, as I just said, I'll do it right now. Is he sitting at his desk? If so I'll buzz him now." She was in a conference room right by his and the other PM's desks and could look right over to them. They were both at their desks and when I called them up I let them know I forgot to call them on Thursday to take care of it, let them know what was going on they agreed to the cuts and I redid the invoice.

So then, I print them out and I give them to her to sign since their her account and she says they're all wrong, it's close to 10 grand off. So I stood right next to her while she redid them on her computer. Turns out I did them correctly, I even corrected her as she did it (3 mistakes by the way) but she rounded up her numbers to where she came out a dollar different than me so she still printed out new ones. WHATEVER!!

And I really like her too. I consider her a friend but there's times like this that she can piss me off to no end. That she's just as ridiculous as our bosses sometimes. Which is why I really don't want to be working there anymore most days lately. But I have to which really sucks.

Ok, enough for now. It's going on 9:30 and I'm getting another headache from staring at all the white and reliving all the bullshit. Gonna go watch a little more tv and then head to bed. I'm hoping to play catch up on at least some of the site reading this weekend, but we shall see.

Media quote of the day:
As you know, the concept of the suction pump is centuries old. Really that's all this is except that instead of sucking water, I'm sucking life. I've just sucked one year of your life away. I might one day go as high as five, but I really don't know what that would do to you. So, let's just start with what we have. What did this do to you? Tell me. And remember, this is for posterity so be honest. How do you feel? - Count Rugen - The Princess Bride (this is how I was feeling last week - blech!)

Not much happening lately

So I've been gone awhile. I've been very busy at work. So much so that by the time I get home I just don't feel like doing anything but vegging out. I have so much catching up to do on all the sites. I'm doing this little blurb on my lunch break. I'm hoping to be able to have a little time after work but before I wake up HD for the evening to have a little more time for another update. But I have to run to Target to get some things so I might not. We shall see. Well gotta go for now.

Later...

So I didn't go to the store.  I received another migraine this afternoon.  I've been suffering from those on and off again for the last couple of weeks.  Another reason for the non posts.  Have you ever noticed that when you go awhile without doing something or having something that you'll either crave it big time or you'll realize you couldn't care less.  Well, it's been almost two weeks since my last post and I was almost to the point of not caring at all about posting again.

As mentioned I've been super busy at work.  We got a new girl and I've been helping quite a bit with training her.  There was also some friction between her and bosslady that I thought I might get stuck in the middle of.  But it looks, at least as of today, that it might have worked itself out.  I'm hoping so since I really like both of them very much and I think this new chick could really work.  That is, as long as she decides she wants to stay.  She doesn't much care for the fact that we have to basically be collection callers.  I'm thinking bossman didn't stress that in his interview with her.  At least not like it was in my interview.

Home life has been basically pretty damn boring for the most part.  Because I've been so damn busy at work by the time I get home all I want to do is veg out on the couch.  This is the first evening in two weeks, if not longer, that I've been on the computer other than to pay bills.

I'd say the most stimulating thing I've done in the last two weeks is mow the lawn.  And that's not being facetious.  Well, I guess I could take that back.  We had a few friends over the Saturday before Mother's Day and hung out but didn't do much other than that.  And on Mother's Day HD and I went over to my mom's and hung out with her for a short while.   Then came back home to make dinner for his mom and youngest sister and her baby and hang out with them for awhile.  His other sister was in Florida with his dad and stepmom going to Walt Disney World with his nephew.

There was a family brouhaha that happened the Thursday before that weekend that hasn't completely resolved itself yet but I can't write about it here.  Sorry, I'm doing this more for my own diary part of this whole site.  Suffice it say that there's much heartache and headache going on.  But HD and I are going to be the supporting big brother and sister that we always are.  Oh yeah, we're ok, the brouhaha isn't us.  Although it did cause us to argue but that's almost a given since it involves extended family members and finances which is almost never a good mix.  Ok, that's it, enough said.  I'm just going to make my migraine that much worse.

I had to take a pill this past Friday and Saturday nights and now it seems I might have to take another one tonight.  I really don't want to though.  I'm so tired of taking medicine.  UGH!!

Ok, I'm done for now.   Maybe I won't go so long next time.  We shall see.

Weekend Update

Well we had a busy weekend. I guess it really started on Thursday. HDiTy had to work and I slept in some. After I got up I took a warm bath, read some of my book and then made myself stop reading so I'd start cleaning up and get to my mom's. One of my stepsisters and her two kids were there. Had a really good visit with them. My oldest brother showed up right on time. About 10 minutes or so after he got there dinner was ready. Had a really good dinner. Then I washed the dishes while my stepsister dried and my mom kept adding more and more dishes to the sink. Afterward we three, her daughter and my stepdad played some dominoes until HD got there.

We left after about 20 minutes or so to go to his grandma's house. Everyone but his mom had already left but that was ok. We had a nice visit with just the two of them. No drama or loudness to deal with.

I did have to go to work on Friday though, which sucked of course. But luckily we got out at 2:30. I planned on going home and grabbing HD and going out and raking the leaves. But a couple of the girls said they were going out for a drink or two and invited me along so I went. Two others got there a few minutes later. I ended up leaving for home at the same I normally would have if I'd stayed working. But the difference was spent having a good time and a couple drinks.

Got home with enough time to change out of the smelly clothes. Cigarettes really stink ya up don't cha know? Two of the girls smoke but even without them the rest of the place was pretty damn smoky. I even had HD spray Febreze in my hair since I didn't have enough time to wash it. We were meeting his dad and stepmom at the theater to see The Mist. That was really good. I haven't read the story but did listen to the cassette tape when I was a teenager. I can't remember anything about it so that was good. I had no idea what to expect. I can't wait for the DVD to get all the extras. His stepmom was joking about having nightmares and we told her we were going to see Bee Movie and invited them along for that one. We had a little time before it started so we played some air hockey. HD beat his dad, then me but barely. So his stepmom then played him and then beat him. Granted he knocked a couple in himself but a win is a win. Bee Movie was ok but nowhere near as good as I expected it to be after all the hype. I doubt I'll buy that one. Probably get it through Netflix at least to see the extras though.

Saturday we slept in a little. I got up around 10:30 or so, although I'd been awake for a good half hour before that because of Cry Baby. He wouldn't leave me alone begging for attention. Finally I got up and decided to take a nice warm bath and read my book. I love soaking in the tub and reading. Problem is when I'm as close to the end of the book as I was I end up staying in longer than I should. Long enough that I had to let half the water out and run some more hot water so I could finish the book and then clean up.

After I went and woke up HD and told him he needed to get up. He was supposed to work overtime that night. Going in at 10pm and working til 6am. I didn't want him to sleep too late because I wanted him tired enough to come home for a nap before the game at 12 because after that we had to rake leaves. Plus we had a birthday party to go to for one of my nieces and nephews. Her Birthday was on Thanksgiving and his was on Friday so their parents decided to have their party together on Saturday. We had to stop at the store on the way to get their cards. They each got money for the gift. Stuck around there until 7ish and then finally left to go home. On our way to the party he went to look something up on his phone and saw that he had a text message from his partner saying she'd take his overtime if he wanted to give it up. He did so she did and I was happy he didn't have to go to work.

When we got home we watched The Number 23 that we've been having for a couple weeks now. It was pretty good, better than what I remember everyone saying it was or wasn't, however you want to say it. It wasn't fast paced at all so maybe that's why people had a problem with it. Then we watched a few of the shows we had recorded over the past week.

Sunday I was awake again around 10 and finally got up around 10:30. Watched an episode of Ghost Hunters and then went to wake up HD to watch the game. Saints won!!! Woo hoo!!! They looked again like the team we know them to be. Right after we went outside to get rid of the leaves in the back yard. The leaf blower kept stopping on HD. I was raking the leaves onto a tarp and hauling them out the street while he was fighting with the blower. It'd work for awhile and then stop on him. He cleaned the air filter at one point and it worked for a good while after that and then all of a sudden just quit. About a third of the way done it started to rain, or maybe sleet. It was these tiny drops of moisture that I couldn't really see, barely felt but heard them as they hit the leaves. It didn't help much, especially since a lot of them were already wet and heavy because of the tiny snow fall we had on Wednesday. In the shaded parts of the lawn the snow was still there.

After we were done I immediately took a nice long hot bath to relax. HD was watching the Bears game and I got there to see the last 2 1/2 minutes of the main game to see them come back and tie and then go into overtime and win it. Nice to see that.

Watched a few more taped shows, did some laundry and then finally fell into bed around 11:45 or so.

HD is sore today from doing the leaves. I think the only reason I'm not is because of my bath. I mean, I was sore and stiff last night but by this morning I was fine.

So that was my busy weekend. This coming weekend should be fairly relaxed. Other than a Surprise Party that I should go to on Saturday I have no plans.

TOO MUCH TV!!!!

I love Autumn. I love everything about it. The changing of the leaves, the crispness of the air and the fact that I don't have to mow the lawn for the next 8 - 9 months. I even love the high winds and rain. Just thought I'd mention it.

We were going to try a new Mexican restaurant last night. They're not open yet but they were having a restaurant warming party, and they went to the station where HDiTty works and handed out invitations to everyone who wanted them, they must have gone to several other places also though. You ask, "Katrina, why do you say that?" Well, I'll tell you. Because by the time we got there they were completely packed with TOO damn many people standing around waiting for a table. So we decided against it and went to another restaurant we've never been to. It was ok, nothing special and the prices were kind of high so we both agreed that we won't be going back. At least, not as a first choice anyway. Maybe like we did last night, if all our other choices are packed we might go.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I really don't want to work. Just thought I'd mention that too.

As also mentioned before, we watch way too much tv. But even still we decided to check out a lot of the new shows this season. We already have one absolute keeper which is Dirty Sexy Money. I don't think there's one thing about it I don't like. Other than there are times that looking at the lead actor, that right now I can't remember his first name but his last is Krause, all I see is Casey McCall from Sportsnight. Others might look at him and see his character from Six Feet Under. I've only watched 2/3 of the first season of that show so he's still Casey to me. PETER, oops, sorry didn't mean to yell but that's his first name. It's Peter. Felicity Huffman from Desperate Housewives was the same way. She was Dana Whitaker from Sportsnight for about the first quarter or third of the first season of DH. So I'm sure eventually he'll turn into only this character.

We're liking K-Ville and Journeyman on Mondays so far. I think the only new show on Tuesday is Reaper. It's ok, we missed the premier though which sucked since it was directed by Kevin Smith. Wednesday is Private Practice and Pushing Daisies. He doesn't watch PP, well not really anyway. He's on the computer when I put it on so if he wants he can completely ignore it. I'm still not sold on it yet. I don't dislike it but I can't say that I like it yet either. We watched the premier of Pushing Daisies on ABC.com then watched the episode that came on last night. It's definitely different but I like it quite a bit. Don't think there's anything new on Thursday. Oh wait is Bionic Woman on Thursday or Wednesday? Doesn't matter either way, it's also one that we're liking so far. I can't say that it's a definite keeper but it's more that than not. And Friday is Moonlight. We like it but not completely sold yet. Oh yeah, somewhere in there are two new half hour comedies. There's the one that comes on after How I Met Your Mother, about the geeks. The Big Bang Theory, that's it. We're really enjoying it immensely. He can relate because he is a geek, not on the level as those guys but he still is one. And I can relate because I'm married to him, although as I said while watching this weeks episode I wouldn't have gotten one or two of the jokes if I didn't know him. The other is Back To You. The show with Kelsey Grammer and Pratricia Heaton. We've laughed out loud several times now. It could use some work but over all it's a good one.

So what is that, 10 shows. Wow, 10 new shows. Of the other new shows that we were going to try we already nixed Life. I recorded the first two shows and we started to watch the premier when we decided we had enough already and before either of us got into it I stopped and deleted it. We also watched the first 15 minutes of Big Shots and decided it blew so that's gone. And I recorded Cave Men and Carpoolers but then deleted them also without watching.

I'm not even gonna mention all the established shows we watch. And there's still a few that haven't even started yet that we'll be watching once they do. We might have to just dump the ones we're not the most thrilled with. Hell, we already dumped Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters and those were established shows we watched. But since we missed the last month/month 1/2 of the last season of each we decided to give up on 'em. Maybe I'll watch 'em on DVD through Netflix.

Game Night needs to happen more often

So Friday night after a horrendous one and half days of nonstop working I wanted to go see a blood and guts movie. That happens every now and then, I need to see violence sometimes. We were going to go see the new Resident Evil movie but somehow never got around to leaving the house. At least not for that. We did go get dinner from Chile's but just went back home and watched tv. It was ok though, I still saw blood if not guts. We watched some UFC fights.

Saturday we watched a couple shows late morning/early afternoon and then started to clean the house for the resurrection of game night. I've been missing game night big time and tried a couple weeks back to have one but that went bust. Only about 1/2 the people showed out of everyone invited but that's ok. There was still a total of 7 of us: we two, his friend Jim, one of his sisters and her boyfriend and two of the chicks that also went to Mexico.

I brought out several games to choose from. His sister isn't the biggest fan of trivia games so I left all of those in the cabinet, we have quite a few. I brought out Apples to Apples, Pictionary, Malarky, Dirty Minds, Battle of the Sexes and it seems to me another one but I can't think of what it is at the moment. Apples to Apples was chosen first and after H Ditty made us some Long Islands we started in. I hadn't eaten anything since 10:30 that morning and it's now about 7:30/7:45 so it didn't take but maybe 5 sips and I was already getting a little tipsy. But that's ok, it made being one of the last ones to get a green card bearable. His sister won the game so reserved the right to choose the next game.

She chose Dirty Minds and then said how much she hated the game because all she could think of was the dirty answers and those are never correct. But she still ended up winning that game as well and quickly chose Pictionary.

Which H Ditty stated would be girls against the boys. So I therefore chose the black piece to represent us knowing it would drive Jim nuts. So then a little sparring ensued on them trying to convince us to give it up. I kept asking HD what he'd do for our anniversary for me to give it up but he never did answer. Then he goes and gets this tiny Saints coffe cup and puts their blue piece in to represent them. But that's ok too since we girls won the game. Which put his sister winning every game we played.

Everybody but Jim had to leave then. One of the girls had to work the next morning and the other was her ride home so they took off. And his sister had to relieve their mother of watching the grandkids and get to bed because of church in the morning.

We weren't quite ready to call it a night so Jim, HD and I played poker, Texas Hold'em, for five bucks each. I won. Kicked ass I might add.

After that HD didn't want to play anymore and wanted to watch some more UFC so that's what we did. And after that I was too beat to stay up, my eyes were barely able to stay open during the last couple of fights so I went to bed. A couple hours later, around 5:30, I heard them go out the back door and talk some more before Jim finally left. About an hour or so after that HD finally crawled into bed.

I had a slight headache but that was more from the way I had been sleeping for the last hour then all the drinking I did. Oh yeah, besides the Long Island I had 2 1/2 Jager shots (we ran out so SIL and I shared the last one) and two or three glasses of SoCo and Cherry Coke. I drank two 16oz bottles of water before I went to bed too so I know that helped with the non hangover. My head was bent way back because I had Crybaby practically laying across my face and definitely across my neck.

Sunday was spent sitting around reading for me and watching football for him. His sister stopped by to grab her camera and some pictures that she forgot the night before and they invited us to go see The Game Plan with 'em later that evening. And since her son really really really wanted us to go we did. For a family movie it was good, for just an adult to watch it was ok. I love me some Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson though so I was not disappointed.

We came home and he watched some more football, I read some more while doing my laundry for the week and then went to bed around 11ish. All in all it was a great weekend. We need to plan another game night real soon. Drinking or not we always have a great time and we need to do it more often.

I hate working!!

I hate working, I don't wanna do it anymore. Don't make me go back, or for that matter, stay here now until 5:30. And the bad thing is is that my cohort is leaving for a long weekend tomorrow at noon. So that means I have to do it all all by myself. You'd think Friday would be an easy day, it's Friday after all, but no, not around here. There are certain reports that have to be done at a specific time and the powers that be are hounding all day long about how much money has been collected and/or will be collected by the end of the day.

And all I'm doing is trying to figure out what to do for my long weekend next week. I already have one thing planned for Thursday night but I can't say what it is because it's going to be a surprise for H Ditty. Although, knowing him, he'll figure it out.

Anyway, what I really came on here to say is. I DON'T WANT TO WORK ANYMORE!!!!

So what's an unnatural woman?

Over the last couple of days I've thought of a few things to write about but now I can't remember any of them. So why am I here? I don't know, couldn't tell you. I just feel like writing but at the same time I don't want to do another random post again. At least not so close to the last one I did. Although this is my blog/journal and I can do whatever the hell I want to with it. It's not like I have a ton of readers to write for that's for sure.

I would like to say thanks to all of you who do stop by on a regular basis though. That includes you lurkers out there. I have one person that comes by almost every day, I know I know, you're just using me to get to other sites. But that's ok I like that actually, it makes me feel useful. Hopefully you peruse what I write before you go on.

Maybe I'll do another "you know" post, hmmm that's a thought. At any rate I need to get off of here for a bit anyway and get back to what puts food on my table. Ta ta for now.

Ok, I'm back for now and can someone explain something to me please? The song that was just on the radio was "A Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin. What the hell does a natural woman feel like, I mean, aren't we all "natural" women if we're female? What does an "unnatural" woman feel like? These are questions I need answers too. Anyone? Anyone?

So my partner (no, not that kind of partner you perv) and I have been trying to collect money all day long and I'm just so damn tired of it today. I hate talking on the phone so I try do as much by Email as possible but there's some people out there that I don't have an address for so I have to call. It's not that they're unpleasant to talk to or anything, it's just that I really don't want to talk to anyone, ever, on the phone if I can get away with it.

UGH!! I just found out from one of my contacts that the money I was told would be collected this week is now not going to be available until Tuesday. There goes $31,000.00 dollars for the week. But right on the heels of that I got an Email from another contact stating there'll be over 50 grand available by them tomorrow.

5 Random Questions

Natalie did a meme a few days back where she had been asked 5 random questions and offered to ask 5 questions of anyone else who wanted them. I responded I'd like to do it and she complied. Following are those 5 questions and answers.

1. What is the worst job you ever had and why?

In my close to 30 years of working I've really only had a handful of jobs. I started working at the age 8 when I helped my brothers with their paper routes. I didn't do it every day but I did it at least 2 to 3 times a week. By the age of 10 I had taken over one of them for myself. I did the typical babysitting too. For the summer of '85 I worked in Wisconsin Dells as a bus person. My next one was at a Stuckey's, you know the place - Home of the Pecan Log Roll. Then as the salad bar preparer at a grocery store. Then I got my first office job when I was a couple months shy of my 21st birthday. I've been in the office ever since. Mainly doing the same things which would be a mixture of admin assistant and/or accounting person. I prefer the accounting work to any other office work. None of these jobs were bad in and of themselves. So I can't say I had a bad job, I can only say I had a bad place of employment.

That would be the place I worked at just before my current place. I was only there 5 months but I knew after 1 that I shouldn't be there anymore. The ad gave the impression along with the owner in the interview that most of my work would be on the accounting side. I'd be doing what's called "pay requests" in the construction industry. And then I'd also being some admin assistant work. Turns out I was doing the admin stuff most every and in those 5 months I only did 3 pay requests. I was not a happy camper. Plus the bossman was a total asshat. He was rude and loud. Not only to me but many other people. His own partner I could tell didn't really respect him. Actually, no one seemed to. If you go back and read any of my first few months of the archives you'd see how bored I was also. I'm too lazy to link to any right now so if you're interested you'll just have to go to the links on the side. There were days that I literally did about 30 minutes of work. Those were mostly the days he wasn't there, but there were a few even when he was. There just wasn't any work to be done. I actually considered putting a tally on my sidebar for the hours/days I actually did real work. I think I did more for the restaurant that he owned than I did for the construction company. Hated this place, absolutely hated it. I was extremely happy the day he called me in to his office to say he'd been going back and forth about firing me or not and then I made it easy on him and said I'd been seriously thinking about quitting for the last month. So we mutually agreed it was for the best and I was outta there!

2. If you magically spoke every language in the world and were given the chance to move anywhere in the world where would you go and why?

This one is easy. I'd divide my time equally between Ireland and Scotland with a trip or two to England thrown in from time to time. Basically it started with my love of THE QUEEN, Elizabeth I. But my interest quickly moved over to Ireland and Scotland. I love the way they talk and would love to speak Gaelic. I love their music. I love their landscape. I love their castles and keeps. I love their history. My dream vacation is to go to both these places with a side trip to England. I actually know more of England's history as I have a fascination with it's kings and queens. But I have several books on Ireland and Scotland that I'm in various stages of reading.

3. Who was your first BFF and are you still friends?

Well let's see. This one is kind of hard to say. In grade school I had several girlfriends that I hung out with quite a bit. But it was more like we were all best friends then just one single girl and I. I was good friends with Monica starting in 5th grade and continuing until 6th but there were times that she more than annoyed the shit out of me. But the girl I seemed to have a real connection with would be Theresa. If my scanner were hooked up and working I'd put a picture here of them both but it's not so I can't. Anyway, Theresa moved into the neighborhood in the summer before our 6th year. I met her through a girl I had known for basically our whole lives and hung out with from time to time. She was a little jealous that Terry and I hit it off so quickly and definitely more strongly then they did. I felt bad but at the same time I was ecstatic that I had this friend.

But as so many good things, this was not meant to last. Her father worked for Westinghouse and he'd get transferred quite a bit. They were only there for a little over one year. She was gone before the middle of 7th grade. I didn't get another BFF until the end of 8th. Nope, not friends with either of them anymore. The 1st one moved away, then I was the one to move away. I got two new BFF's in Louisiana and one of them I'm still friends with. Although she lives in Tennessee now and we only communicate every now and then through Emails as neither one of us are phone people.

4. If you had your dream house (and maybe you already do) what would it be like?

Well, I certainly don't have my dream house now, which is a pity. My, or I should say our dream house since we both agree, would be a cabin in the woods on a hillside or mountain on our own secluded lake. Or at the very least a very large pond. It would be a cross between rustic and not so rustic. Wood would be everywhere, including exposed beams. There would be a large fireplace either filling up one wall or an open one between the living room and dining room. The downstairs would be an open space, basically one huge room but each place would be defined. Windows from top to bottom looking out over the lake and another wall of them looking into the woods. There'd be a loft for the computer area. There'd be 3 bedrooms with a fireplace in each and their own bathrooms. Or maybe the two extra rooms would share one between them. The master bedroom would have it's own balcony overlooking the lake. There'd be a library, and well, I could go on and on. But basically that's our dream house.

5. You get one wish but you cannot use it on yourself. You also cannot wish for anything that will influence many people. Who do you bestow your wish upon and what do you wish for them?

This one is hard. I've thought about it on and off ever since I read it back on Friday afternoon. The whole not influencing a lot of people of course rules out anyone "famous" or "infamous" for whatever reason they might be famous or "infamous" for. So it basically boils down to the people in my life. In my immediate vicinity there are a few people that I'd wish things for. One is my mother-in-law. She hasn't had the easiest life and she definitely deserves a good one. H Ditty himself I'd wish to get rid of his psoriasis because it's such a pain in the ass and when it really flares up it bugs him to no end. But for the most part both of them are doing ok. His mom has her own home and she has 3 children and two beautiful grandchildren. HD has a pretty good life and of course ME!

So I guess I'd have to say the person I'd wish my wish on would be my brother Roy. He's the 3rd oldest and smack dab in the middle of us 5 kids. He's the typical middle child. He caused the most trouble in the family and of course the most heartache to our mom. She raised us all by herself. Our dad was a deadbeat dad. At the age of 15 I could count on one hand the times that he spent any significant amount of time with us and he certainly didn't help financially. My brothers could have used a good strong male influence in their lives but they didn't get it. And Roy seemed the one to need it the most. He skipped school a lot, he was the first one to smoke, drink and do drugs. Rather than the oldest influencing the younger kids he influenced the older two and got them to smoke, drink and do drugs. He was 13, at least that I know of, the first time he smoked pot and it went down hill from there. Although he didn't get into heavy drugs until much later he had already ruined his life.

Out of all five of us he was the one with talent. He could draw really well. Not only could he look at a picture and draw it just about perfectly he could do pictures out of his own head. He liked to use chalk and mom encouraged him by buying him sets for Christmas and birthdays along with charcoal and pencils. He'd use them for awhile and then stop. We both told him many times to apply for those schools where you draw the turtle and send it in. But he never did. He also was a whiz at electricity. He did many things around the house when things needed fixing. Sometimes they'd be jury rigged but they were well done nonetheless. He was able to do this without anyone teaching him. So we both of course encouraged him to become an electrician. Nope no go. I can honestly say I don't remember any job he had, besides those paper routes when he was younger, before I moved to Louisiana when I was 16. After that I know he got a roofing job because while on the 2nd floor roof of a house he slipped and fell off it. When he fell he knew he had to do what we're all taught from a young age, immediately roll upon landing. But he couldn't. There was a truck right there that he'd crash into and then the ladder and something else that I can't remember now in the only other direction he could've rolled. So he fell flat on his feet breaking every bone in one of them and just about every one in the other.

He got a really good settlement out of it too, not just workman's comp. But he blew it all on drugs and alcohol. He's an alcoholic and drug addict but he's a really good guy. He lives in Florida now. The last we heard (he doesn't have his own phone or apartment for that matter) he was still working and living with a coworker and friend. But the friend who's number my mom had has been disconnected. She sent a letter to their home telling him to call but he hasn't. He's in his early 40's now. So my wish would be for him to get the help he needs to get himself clean and sober. For him to find a job that he truly loves and can support himself in his own apartment with his own phone. Someplace where he can have insurance and start being able to save so he won't HAVE to work until the day he dies.

I love my brother very much. I'm grateful that he's not like a bunch of other druggies out there. He's not stealing or doing anything else illegal to support his habit. He still works, he's a functioning druggie. But he's still a druggie and he needs help. But he won't let the family help him. He came back and lived here for close to 3 years not long ago. The older brothers along with mom tried to help him but it just didn't work out and he moved back to Florida. I know he's not happy and that he misses all of us. I know this because when he actually does resurface and talk to mom she'll ask him why he doesn't call more often and he usually gets emotional and says it's because he misses all of us, that he's homesick but at the same time doesn't want to live where it's cold. He's always loved the summer. It hurts him to think about all of us up here and how he's missing out on his nieces and nephews. I wish he could have a better life.

Media quote of the day: You know the kinda guy who does nothing but bad things and then wonders why his life sucks? Well, that was me. Every time something good happened to me, something bad was always waiting around the corner. Karma. That's when I realized I had to change. So I made a list of everything bad I've ever done, and one by one I'm gonna make up for all my mistakes. I'm just trying to be a better person. My name is Earl. - Earl - My Name is Earl

This would be a step in the right direction for Roy.

Push the damn paper down people!!

How difficult is it to push paper down in a wastebasket?

I only ask because my coworkers are starting to frustrate me. As any good accounting department should, we have a paper shredder. It's the kind that sits on top of a square garbage can so the shredded paper goes directly into the bag and it's all ready to be taken out at the end of the day. With a total of 7 people, minimum, who's using it throughout the day, well you can image how it'll fill up pretty quickly. But here's the thing. Paper doesn't really squish that well, at least not when it's paper pushing on paper. Especially when it's shredded, it gets fluffy so there's all this space in between. When the shredded paper is at the top of the can and I go to use the thing I push the paper down, most of the time I can push it pretty damn far down.

If you don't push it down the new shredded paper takes longer to go through, it comes out all crinkly (not that that's a big deal but still) and the machine itself has trouble because the paper can't go anywhere since it's hitting all the others. There have been times that it's jammed because of this. No one, and I mean no one - this is so not an exaggeration, pushes the paper down but me. Why? Why doesn't anyone else do it? I mean, it takes all of 3 seconds to lean over and push down. And now we have all this nice empty space to fill again.

Ugh!!

How's your day so far?

Media quote of the day: If I don't see a door in my station in 5 seconds, I will personally put you through the shredder. - Randall - Monster, Inc. I love this movie!!!!

Ramblings, again

In my last comments Natalie says: I've never shot a gun. If I did i would hit my foot.

I had to laugh at that because as I'm carrying the damn thing from room to room it's usually pointed at the floor and I've thought on more than one occasion, "Katrina, make sure your finger is off the trigger and laying along side like M**** showed you because you don't want to shoot your damn foot off!" There's no safety on this thing people, it could happen!

The application has been sent in. The one that's going to the same place, but not the same job, as H Ditty. I have a feeling I won't even be considered. In the ad it says that due to so many applicants only the ones that will be considered for hire will be interviewed. That's how I'll know if I'm even in the running. Don't know how long they'll go through the apps before they start calling for interviews, hell they may have already started doing them. It's been running now for at least a few weeks and tomorrow is the last day to send them in. Keeping my fingers crossed. Wish me luck.

17 days until he's home! Woo Hoo!!!

I'm a little ways into book 5 of the Harry Potter series. It's a huge book, the largest of them all and book 6 isn't a whole lot less. There's no way I'll have them done before #7 comes out Saturday. I suppose I could go and get my band number from Borders right after work tomorrow which would give me my number in line if I want to stand in it at Midnight. But, nah, I think I'll just go get it in the morning when I'm doing my shopping for my nephew who's birthday it is on Saturday. Anyway, I think I'll take a page out of
Debbie's book and not go to any sites what-so-ever or anything else that I can help so nothing gets spoiled for me. At least to those places that I know other's read the books too. I may or may not update again for the next several days either so that way I can concentrate on reading the books. I probably will, but who knows for sure.

The chick on the other side of my cubicle wall has the best smelling hand lotion. It's some kind of berry, strawberry I think, mixed with something else. It permeates the room. Yummmm She just used it by the way, that's why I mention it.

Ok, gotta go, time to start winding down the clock.

Ok, I'm back. I'm at home now.

There's this pond in the business park where I work. From the moment the ducks and geese came back for spring and summer it's had them in there. But this past week, until this afternoon that is, one goose has been there all by it's lonesome. I don't know how to tell the females from the males in the Canadian geese so I'll just call it a him. He's been standing on the side of the pond now every morning and evening. In different areas mind you, but still, just standing there looking all forlorn and shit. I've been feeling really sad for him. Sad enough that I want to pack him up and take him home with me. But then this afternoon I saw him on the North end, still standing on the side of the pond, but lo and behold, there was a little family of ducks sitting right by him. A male, female and little mallard ducklings. Seems late in the season for ducklings but there they were. So now I feel better, he's not all alone. Hopefully next year he'll have a mate.

Alright, I'm outta here, thought I'd have more to say when I got home but I'm too hungry to think of anything else.

Fire good, Rain good, It's all good

So I saw Gremlins for the first time last night. It was a midnight showing. I'd seen different scenes before but never the whole thing. It was pretty funny, I enjoyed it.

I also enjoy a good fire. Yesterday my brother's stepdaughter had her 8th grade graduation party. Well, more a cookout with family and some friends. But later in the evening he started up a campfire that those two had prepared the night before. A small group of us sat around it bullshitting before we headed out to see Gremlins. All but my brother were seeing it for the first time. My niece's best friend fell asleep during it but for only about 15 minutes so she didn't miss much.

I also enjoy thunderstorms and the one we just had didn't last nearly long enough. And it also wasn't stormy enough. It came out of nowhere, with the rain coming pretty much straight down and the thunder wasn't close enough to be very loud but at least I still heard it. And now it's back to being sunny as can be like it never even happened.

I have a Pretty Boy that keeps walking back and forth in front of me and head butting me just begging for attention. It's as cute as can be but I wish he'd just lay down already and go to sleep. Once he settles he'll do it in between my arms. Which usually ends up making my left one go a little numb after awhile from lack of movement. Aahh, there he goes. He's now hunkered down and I can open my eyes back up to see what I'm typing.

I just started on the 4th book of Earth's Children. It's the series of books that starts with The Clan of the Cave Bear. It's really a very good series. Much better than I ever expected it to be.

Oh well, that didn't last long. He's back up and walking back and forth again. My face is gonna be all itchy soon. Now he's decided to go hunker down on the couch. All that rubbing on me for nothing. What a damn tease!

The guy who started work at the same time I did was out every day last week. Not sure if he's gonna have a job when he comes back. The only thing that'll save him I believe is if he has a doctor's note. Both bosslady and bossman are showing signs of disappointment in him. Especially since we've been there 5 months now and he's still asking how to do some of the simplest things. And although he called in Tuesday and Wednesday he didn't talk to bossman, he just left a message with the receptionist. On Thursday he had his fiance call in and she did talk to bossman and said that he's still throwing up and that she was taking him to the emergency clinic later that morning. On Friday when no one called in bosslady called the hospital that it would make the most sense that he'd go to and asked if they had a patient with his name. The nurse came back on said that they have someone with that name along with the middle initial of W in their emergency waiting room. Turns out that that is his middle initial. Now that's one of two things. They really didn't go anywhere on Thursday and he decided he better go somewhere on Friday to cover himself. Or they did go to a clinic on Thursday and it didn't help so they decided to go to an actual hospital. I guess we'll find out tomorrow, maybe.

Ya know, it's getting close to a year that I've been doing this. Seems unreal to me. I don't have a whole lot of steady readers but that's ok. I didn't get into it for the readers, although I appreciate you all, I got into for a sort of diary/journal of my ordinary little life. Every time I start doing one on paper it would only last for a maybe a week and then I stop. And even then I didn't do it every day for that week. Although I don't come on here and write every day either it's much more steady. Plus it's much more faster than writing by hand, that's for sure.

Oh well, I guess that's it for now. I'm gonna go find something to do.

Workin' My Ass Off!

So, boss lady has been out of the office since 10:30am Friday. When she's gone, hell even when she's there but really busy, they have me do some of her work to help her out. So I've been doing her billings, her change orders, her end of day reports, her certified payroll, helping new guy out, etc., etc, etc. Friday I didn't get out of there until 5:50, yesterday and today was around 5:40. But because of this I don't always get my own work done, at least not as much as should be done. But also because of this I definitely should be getting a damn good raise after my review.

I like how busy it keeps me but sometimes, like Friday, I feel like I'm a chicken with it's head cut off.

One good thing though is that I'm tired by the end of the day so I don't want to stay up late which mean I go to bed at a decent time which mean I get some pretty decent sleep. I was in bed by 10:30 last night. That's damn early for me. But I'm getting used to this early bed shit. Eventually I'll get it as early as 10:00, well, maybe I will, that's sorta pushing it.

Well, that's it, short and sweet tonight. I'm hungry and still have to make something to eat so I'm outta here.

On my mind

There's been quite a bit on my mind lately.

1) First and foremost. I really and truly hate not having my computer. I don't think I mentioned this at all but I've been without my computer now for a little over 2 weeks. It crapped out one day and we can't fix it. We have to get a whole new one and haven't done it yet. So I've been using H Ditty's computer whenever I can get on it. Which isn't very often. I have to wait until he's gone to bed which is usually around 8:30/9:00. He still hasn't acclimated to the day shift yet. So anyway I haven't been able to get to all my favorite sites for awhile either. Really sucks. I'll be playing catch up tonight and tomorrow.

2) A very horrendous thing happened to one my coworkers the other day. The lady that did my phone interview was involved in a car accident and died. Two of the women in my dept. talked to her while she was on her way in. One of them was discussing what they'd do when she got there which she said would be in 15 minutes. Almost an hour later someone else who knew she'd be in soon was looking for her and that's when we all realized that it'd been an hour since the last person had talked to her. She was an incredibly nice person. It's absolutely tragic.

3) I need to clarify something. It's been awhile since H Ditty has been here and he recently came by and caught up on his reading. He says that what I put in my comments of the post about his being so nice to me on my first day of work made it sound like I was willing to leave him recently. So I need to clarify that the last time I thought about leaving him was many many years ago. Before we were engaged, let alone married. For those of you who don't know, we've been together for over 11 years. Most of those years he would say how he had no interest in getting married. I would wonder from time to time why I was staying with a man that didn't want to marry me. And one of his biggest flaws was that he didn't help around the house as much as he should have. It was the fight we'd get into the most and it would happen more often than not. At those times I would also wonder why I was with a man that didn't respect our house, me or us enough to help out more and marry me rather than shack up with me. Then when I would calm down I'd think that if this is one of my biggest complaints about him I'd be silly to leave. He's not cheating on me, he's not lying to me, and all those other crappy things some men will do he's not doing so I should count my blessings and stick it out. I did and he did eventually help more around here and marry me. Love you!

4) I'll admit it, I'm a little worried about the game on Sunday. Not because I believe the Bears will win, but that the Saints will lose. If you know what I mean. If not, I believe if the Saints lose it'll be because of their own damn mistakes, not from anything the Bears do. Not to say that they won't make a good play or two, but that what they do won't cause them to win. I'm also a little worried that if the Saints win something might happen to one of us. It could be minor or big you just never know. Or I'm worrying for nothing and nothing will happen at all. Which is really what I think will happen but I'm still worried about what might happen.

5) We're trying to figure out what kind of sign to make so we'll get on tv. We just found out last night where our seats are. I have to tell you, they're kick ass
seats. We're in section 111 and row 18. That's in between the 30 and 40 yard lines. Don't know what side though, if it'll be visitor's or home. Although it is the East side of the stadium and I think the visitor's are usually on that side. If so that'll be even better. It's supposed to be snowing, 1-4 inches they're calling for on Sunday. Some of that is supposed to be coming down during the game. I'm going to be freezing! But having a blast, either way, win or lose, I'm going to be having a blast.

6) I'm really liking my job. I'm busy all day which is such a blessing after that God awful job I had before. At 5:00 I got the list of what my projects will be. Both new guy and I have been helping boss lady and snaggle tooth (the 1st chick that was training me my first couple of days. She has a couple crooked teeth but they actually make her cuter. She's also extremely nice) with all of the jobs we have going. Today, we got a list of the jobs that are no going to be considered ours. Snaggle tooth will no longer have any of them, she works the service side and helps with the administrative work when needed. I'm happy to finally have my own jobs to worry about rather than being all over the place.

7) I can't stand the fact that I like that stupid Hinder song Lips of an Angel. It's really catchy though. But the subject matter is deplorable!

8) Numbers has been on in the background as I've been writing this. That is one good show.

9) Did I mention that I can't stand not having my own computer. There's like 5 or 6 sites that I go to that I haven't gotten around to adding to my blog list so I have to link to them by other sites or comments. It really sucks. I know, what's the big deal in doing that. Well, no big deal really, it's just the inconvenience of it all. Maybe that's what I'll do tomorrow, finally get them added.

Well, I'm signing off so I can go read some blogs/journals. Have a nice night.

The post where I brag about H Ditty

I'm nowhere near as eloquent as some of you other bloggers out there. My writing skills just haven't been honed yet, I'm working on it, give me time please. Thank you. So although the title says I'm the one bragging I should really put a little disclaimer here...I'm not the one bragging really, it's his actions that are doing the bragging. I'm just relaying what happened. So on with it.

My husband is so wonderful. From the very beginning of my freaking out about this job he's done nothing but be supportive. He's told me over and over that they'd be crazy not to want me, that I'm being silly for being so worried, that if they hire me I'd kick butt, etc., etc.

My first day was Tuesday. He had stayed awake all night Monday night, as usual, so he was up when I got up. Actually he was up and making breakfast before I woke up. The smell of the food woke me up. I figured he was making himself something to eat. I hit my snooze a time or two and next thing I know he's coming into the bedroom telling me it's time to get up. I sit up, take off my eye mask and see a plate of waffles, bacon and toast and a glass of chocolate milk sitting on a tv tray next to the bed. With a jar of maple syrup all ready to pour onto the waffles. I can't remember a time when he's made me breakfast in bed. Now, we've been together for over 11 years so he may have, I just don't remember it. If he did then it was in the "courtship" stage. Hee.
He also bought half the breakfast when he went to the store get the plant and card. He bought the bacon and bread. And it wasn't the easy microwave kind, he actually cooked it up in the pan.

He also stayed and talked to me while I was getting ready. Except for the short time he took to go outside and start my truck because the windows were frosted.

He made my lunch too.

Then, THEN, I go out to my truck and open the door. Sitting on my seat is a little flowering plant to put on my desk with it's own little card. There's also a card sitting on the dash behind the steering wheel.

The card brought tears to my eyes. Well, what he wrote did.

The card itself says: Achievement lies within reach of those who reach beyond themselves (on the cover). Wishing you all the best in your new position (on the inside).

He wrote: I know you're afraid, I know you're anxious. Trust me - You'll knock 'em dead. They will love you! After all, what choice do they have? I love you baby! You make me very proud to call my own. Love, your adoring husband

He's absolutely awesome!!

I love you honey!!

New job

So my first two days at the new job are over and done. So far it's alright. I'm really hating the long drive but mainly because of the asshats that refuse to drive at least the speed limit. There's a pretty good long stretch that the limit is 55; both days I was lucky to get up to 45 at one point. Otherwise it's usually around 40 if not even as low as 35 in a few places. And I can't pass because the oncoming traffic is non stop. Ugh!!

The job itself though is ok. There's been a shit load of stuff shown to me in these two days and I'm already able to do a couple of things on my own. I of course go over them with one of the two ladies that have been training me and the other guy who started yesterday also. I want to make sure I'm doing all the steps required because there's 5 of them. And that's just the first part. After being signed off by a project manager there's 3 more steps. Then after being received back from the general contractor there's 2 more steps. All for a change order to the contract. I've had to do all these steps now for different projects and feel pretty confident so I think if I can do these the rest should go about the same.

They're very meticulous though. Everything that gets done is put into this software as notes. I mean everything. If you place a call you write it down. If you send something to someone else in another department you write it down. Doesn't matter if you have an answer or not. It's good though, it's certainly a way to cover yourself that's for sure. Bosslady prints out all these notes at the end of every day. She has to print out 4 copies of everyones notes, including her own, to go to 2 of the owners, the comptroller and a 3rd owner who's also a project manager.

There's all these different departments and each one has their own little conference/table area. A few of them are in their own offices. Ours is and in our room there's two offices off of it. One for the comptroller and one for the accounting manager. Then there's 6 cubicles and our own table/conference area. We also have our own deck with a table and 4 chairs, it's pretty nice. Our office is also locked at all times. We each have our own electronic key to get in. So far no one else coming from another department has been able to get in without knocking. So I'm assuming there's only a few outside people that have one.

The girl that's been training me leaves at 2pm every day so after she goes I get handed off to bosslady. She's the 2nd person I met with at my interview. Although she does what I'll be doing she also does much more and is considered an accounts project manager. So basically she's a supervisor/boss to me but my main boss is the comptroller. All three are very nice. The other two chicks in our department seem to be nice but other then being introduced to them I haven't said anything else. I've never been introduced to the accounting manager but then he sits in his room doing his thing. He hardly ever seems to come out & when he does he's only talked to one of those other chicks and the comptroller. The other new hire is a guy. I'm not sure if he's going to make it. He's also nice enough but doesn't seem to be grasping things very well. I don't know if he's like me and has never worked in a company as large or anal about things, if it's that he's never worked in construction or if it's just that he's not the brightest bulb but I think unless something clicks in him he's either gonna quit or be let go.

I believe the reason I'm grasping things quicker is that I've got so much construction experience. Other than companies doing specific things their own way and some having different software programs the basics of a construction office are the same. Most of the process is the same. So it's all about learning their ways and their software.

I'm dragging ass right now though. After not working for the last 2 1/2 months and being able to sleep in if I want this waking up at 5:45 is killing me. But then, Monday night I got maybe 4 hours sleep. I kept waking up every hour and taking forever to fall asleep. Then around 4:30 am The Brat Prince (who's eyes are up there in my photo spot) started bugging me for food. I finally fell back asleep asleep around 4:45 only to wake up one hour later. Last night wasn't as bad though. We gave all the cats a snack around 11:30pm so they didn't bug me for food and most of them stayed downstairs with H Ditty. I was able to sleep most of the night through. But the lack of sleep the night before, the long drives and the 10 hours of being at the office have taken their toll. I'm gonna go read a few of my favorite sights and then go to bed.
