I Ain't gonna say it anymore

So I'm laying in bed last night ready to go to sleep and for some reason I cannot fathom this thought came into my head.  I wonder if anyone says ain't anymore.  I don't seem to say it all anymore and I used to say it all the time.  I couldn't tell you when I quit though.  It wasn't a conscious decision on my part, I just for some reason quit saying it apparently. 

And I don't recall hearing any of my nieces or nephews saying it at all or any of our friends kids either.

Oh my God this is too damn funny.  I set this aside to do some work then decided to go to MSN and there's a link about Charlie Sheen and new Major League movie.  I loved the original, felt a little let down but not completely with #2 and I don't recall there being a #3 at all but apparently there is one out there.

Anyway, I click on the link to see what he has to say and the last line of the article he says ain't.  Isn't that just the way.  I bet I'll be seeing it or hearing it all the time now.  Or at least it'll seem like I am.

Weekend Update 2/18-20/11

So another boring weekend basically.  Friday right after work I went and did the grocery shopping so I wouldn't have to do it over the weekend.  HDT was supposed to work his normal weekend 6am to 6pm but one of his coworkers had been in a single car accident a few days ago and was pretty sore so she called in Friday night.  So they sent him home early so he could go back at 10pm.

So he was sleeping when I got home from shopping.  I put the groceries away and made myself some dinner.  Got him up at 9:00 and saw him off to work.  I crawled into bed to do some reading but didn't last very long, was pretty damn tired so turned out the light around 10:30 or so.

Because of that I actually woke up at 7:30 and was pretty much wide awake.  I had bought the makings for a stew the night before so I threw all that in the crock pot to cook all day.

HDT got home a little around 8:30 or so and we made some breakfast and watched a show or two then I put him to him bed.  I sat in bed with him reading while he slept.  Eventually I decided to get up and take a bath and read some more.  Exciting!  Then watched some tv until it was time to get him up at 6:00.  The stew was ready bu 4:00 and I was pretty darn hungry then so after dishing it out in individual serving sizes I had some for a late lunch/early dinner.  HDT had some when he got up as well. 

We were pretty much out of our recorded shows and I had been telling him about the kid from About a Boy being all grown up and looking really good - compared to how he did in the movie.  Not that he was bad, he was just a bit goofy, all big teeth and weird, weired left eyebrow.  I know he's seen the movie but he swears he never has so I went to grab it from our DVD's to put in to show him.  But, along with several other movies, it's disappeared.  Have no frickin clue where it could be.  So damn frustrating.  So I turned on the Netflix instant queue and turned it on.  I fast forwarded to a few scenes with the boy and he still swore he had never seen the movie.  So, since he was leaving the couch and going on to the computer to play WOW I rewound the movie to start it from the beginning.  He enjoyed it but still swore he'd never seen it.  Whatever, I know better.

After that I put on the next Buffy the Vampire Slayer show from season one that was ready to go.  He called the coworker that had gotten in the accident at 8:30 to make sure she was going into work since she hadn't called in to say she wasn't going.  She was going in so he didn't have to, which was really nice.  He told her to give him a call if she found that she had bit off more than she could chew and needed to go home though.  But she never did.

So we continued to watch Buffy until I got so darn tired I had to go to bed a little after 1am.  He showed up about 2:30 and then had to get up to go to work for his regular 6am to 6pm time slot at 5:00.  I slept until 9:30, it was nice and dark when I got up still because of all the rain.  Good day to stay in bed but I couldn't so I got up.

While watching tv throughout the day I did some laundry and dishes.  Just after 12:00 HDT called to say he forgot his phone and asked me to bring it to him, so I did that as well.  Then he calls me a little while later to say Jim would be coming by after he (HDT) got off of work to bring the girls by to drop ofour girl scout cookies and collect their money.  I can be really antisocial, especially when it comes to kids, so I wasn't particularly happy about it.  But I made myself decent for company anyway.

When 6:45 hit and none of them were there yet, including HDT, I started to get my hopes up that they weren't coming.  But a little after 7:00 Poydras starts barking and growling like crazy.  He had been up on our bed sleeping the afternoon away and the driveway is right next to our bedroom.  So when he heard them he reacted.  They were there for about 10 minutes or so when HDT called to say he was on his way home. 

I cooked a pizza for us for dinner, the others had already eaten and were snacking on some pretzels.  The tv was on but the sound was on mute but when it switched to NBC and the SNL backstage moments show we turned the sound on and watched it.  The youngest started getting really sleeping just after 9:00 so they were out of there by 9:30.  HDT and I finished watching the show and a little of the news and then watched the 48 Hours Mystery that recorded the night before.  When it was done it was close to midnight so I headed up to bed.  He showed up about 3:30 or so.

Yep, we live a pretty boring life really.

Weekend Update 2/11-14/11 - with pictures

So Friday was HDT's 40th birthday.  We planned on going out to our favorite Chinese restaurant  by ourselves then maybe doing something after.  Maybe going to see Sixteen Candles, a really fun 80's tribute band, that was playing at a local bar or going to Zanies Comedy Club.  But then those plans changed a little bit.  We still went to the restaurant but Jess came with and afterward we met Jim at our house and had some fun.  Another friend and his girlfriend were supposed to stop by but they never did. 

We played a card game called Oh Hell.  We haven't played that in years and it's so much fun even with just four people.  But when you get a bigger number, say 7-8, it's even more fun.  Jim brought an ice cream cake and I had purchased some custom made M&M's.  I had a fleur-de-lis put on, two linked hearts put on, one saying Happy 40th!! and another that just said his name.  They were blue for him, pink for me and gold for the Saints.  They were good.  The following pictures look like there's 40 candles on there but there aren't.  It's candles spelling out Happy Birthday.  But they're all on the side of the cake closest to me.














After that we watched Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog which I had given to him as a present. All of us but Jess have seen it before and of course she ended sleeping through most of it. She saw enough to know she'd actually enjoy watching the whole thing though. We both absolutely love this blog, show, movie, whatever you wanna call it now that it's on DVD. I plan on trying to get my brothers to stick around after the next UFC to watch it.

I went to bed after it was over with. Not sure when Jim left but Jess slept the night on our couch. HDT didn't come to bed until 5:30/6:00 or so. I got up around 9ish I think it was and let Jess out of the driveway since I was parked behind her. HDT got up around 9:30 or so. And we proceeded to have the most lazy day we've had in a long time. Usually we'll do something like do dishes or some laundry or something in between watching tv all day. But not this time. Other than make something to eat and taking the dog out when needed we sat on our asses watching our dvr'd shows and finally The Blind Side which we've had for a very long time from Netflix. We both liked it quite a bit.

Sunday we got up and I made breakfast - scrambled eggs and bacon (no biscuits this time around) and we watched a little more tv before we had to get ready to head out to go bowling. We made plans to meet up with family at a bowling alley to celebrate his birthday. On Friday when I called the alley to reserve some lanes the lady told me I couldn't, they didn't do adult birthday parties (even though on their website it said they do) she said Sunday was a first come first serve day. So I said we'd like to be there around 2:00 would that be ok and she said yes, again it's a first come first serve. So I thought we were in the clear.

After stopping and getting the 40 candles that he'd have to blow out (he did it to me last year so I was just returning the favor) and three of my nieces we headed on up. We walk in the place and it's packed. I see birthday parties left and right. So I go up to the lanes and look to see if there's any open and I see about 6 or so all the way down at the end. As we're walking up to the counter I'm saying to HDT should we get 2 or 3 lanes and the guy hears me and says they have nothing available, they're all booked until 4:00pm. I was astonished, he said they're booked with 7 birthday parties. I told him I had tried to book one on Friday as was told I couldn't, he came back with saying that's because they had all of these. I told him the girl didn't tell me that. He said they have a first come policy sprinkled amongst the parties and all of those are taken. I told him I had told the girl I'd want to be there around 2:00 and she told me fine. I was so not happy. She could've said they had a ton of parties booked and they'd be really full so I'm really taking my chances. But she gave me no indication of it and then to deny me a party was just bullshit.

So we left of course, there's no way we were going to hang out for 2 hours. The nieces mentioned an alley back in our town but he didn't want to do that. He decided to go to a restaurant that we don't get to very often to have some pizza. We called everyone to let them know where to meet us. And of course everyone had eaten already because it was after 2:00 and they figured they'd be bowling. But everyone had at least a few pieces of pizza and we had some good conversations anyway. His mom, brought a cake and after putting all the candles on you could barely see the decorations on it. But he got them all blown out with one breath.  I didn't take pictures of that, I did a little movie on my iphone.  But since I don't know how to post movies just take a look at the pictures above again and you'll know how that went. 

After that we all went our separate ways, the nieces went home with grandma so we didn't have to worry about them.  We got home and chilled out for the rest of the evening with the babies and watched some tv and Up in the Air, which we've also had forever from Netflix.

Monday being Valentine's Day we didn't thing much differently than normal.  We don't usually do much for it, usually just cards.  Which we did again this year.  I also grabbed us some dinner so neither of had to cook.  We had pretty much gone through all our dvr'd shows that we had any interest in watching at the time so we decided to watch our last Netflix movie to get it out of the house finally.  It was a really romantic one too - The Lovely Bones.  Yeah, not so much.  But it wasn't as bad as I was thinking it could be.  Teared up some but nothing like I expected to.  And we enjoyed it as well.  Don't know what all the poo poo was about it when it came out.  It wasn't a masterpiece but it wasn't bad, oh well, whatever.  After that we pretty much headed to bed since we both had to work in the morning.

Weekend Update 2/4-6/11

So, let's see. It was his weekend to work but he took Sunday off and only had to work his 8 hour day on Saturday.

Friday was our usual staying at home and watching tv while he played on the computer.

Saturday I was lazy again, too cold do anything else. Well, not totally lazy. I did get on the elliptical. I wanted to use the treadmill but it wasn't working (again).  So I used the elliptical.  After I lazed on the couch for a little while watching tv but started to get drowsy around 2:00ish. 

I was planning on taking a nap when HDT called to say Jim would be stopping by soon to pick up the Star Wars DVDs.  He and his girls got there just before 3:00 and we chatted for a bit while they gave Poydras a bunch of attention.  Then shortly after they left I went and laid down for a nap.  HDT had let me know when he called about Jim coming over that he would be stuck at work for a couple hours or so. 

He got home around 4:30 or so.  I had dozed off not long before he got home so although I felt like I could have slept longer it was a good thing I didn't.  It was just enough that I felt refreshed and didn't start getting tired again until around 10:00.

We had some dinner while watching a show or two and then got to straightening up before the boys came over to watch the UFC fights.  Wayne brought one of his friends/coworkers over.  The fights were not all that interesting.  Which was pretty sad for being such a good card.  Oh well, since Forrest Griffin won I was still a happy girl. 

Not long after they all left I went to bed.  HDT showed up not long after.

Sunday we got up and I made breakfast: scrambled eggs, bacon and biscuits.  Very good breakfast if I do say so myself.  Watched tv, as usual, until we had to get ready to leave to go to Jason's (HDT's coworker) house to watch the Superbowl. 

Three couples that they're friends with from their church also came.  They seem like a really good bunch of people.  It's a church that HDT and I have talked on and off about going to.  But as you can see we're pretty damn lazy and just haven't made it a point to go to. 

The game itself was good.  I was torn between wanting Green Bay to win and not wanting them to.  I really don't like the Packers and I couldn't root for them.  But at the same time being in the NFC I wanted them to win more than I wanted the Steelers to.  Several of the people there were actively rooting for the Steelers because they're Bears fans and found it even harder to want Green Bay to win than I did.  It sounded like HDT was the only one there that wanted them to win.  Turns out he had a bet, a double or nothing bet, so he had even more reason for wanting Green Bay to win.

I didn't care for the halftime show.  All those neon dancers just kept me thinking of Tron which I don't think they were supposed to.  And other than the Guns and Roses song with Slash I didn't know or even care about any of the songs.  Not a Black Eyed Peas fan.  Or Usher for that matter.  Not that I dislike them though, just not something I listen to.

I really liked many of the commercials, especially the Doritos and VW commercials.  The Eminem Chrysler commercial was pretty darn good too.  I was very disappointed that they shortened the Darth Vader VW commercial though.  HDT had purposely not watched it before the game because he said he wanted to see it when we all were supposed to see it for the first time.  So when it finally aired I was upset that he didn't get to see the whole thing.  I felt like it didn't have as much of an impact.  But then, reading about all of them the next day it seemed like a ton of people still really liked it.  So that's good.

After the game we went home, made a pizza since we were both pretty hungry.  And then not long after I was done I went to bed.

New template

So, I've been wanting to update my template but every time I went to do it something interrupted me or way back when there weren't any new styles that I liked.  But today I found this one.  It fits me well, I absolutely love to read so to have books as my border is terrific. 

And now I don't have to change the font and color of my words anymore, it's already set. 

And my archives are much better too.  They're no longer one long ass list but done by year.  I've wanted to do that for a really long time too but never could.

Happy, very, very happy.

But I still have to get my blog list back up.  I'll have to start working on that soon, it's bugging me.

Snow days

So we had a bit of snow the other day. Maybe you heard about it? The Chicago news stations are calling it The Blizzard of 2011. Yep, original.

I was getting a little ticked at the bosses since it started coming down pretty darn good just after 3:00 and they weren't letting us go. They finally did just after 4:00. I backed into my spot in the driveway went inside and didn't come out again until the next morning some time after 10:30 or so. And then just to shovel a decent spot in the yard for Poydras to do his business.

HDT had to go to work for overtime, they were doing three shifts instead of two so needed all hands on deck basically. He originally was to go in at 6:00 but was told not to come in until 10:00. We were hoping he'd get there and they'd tell him he wasn't needed but no such luck. He was there until around 4:00 and then left to go help shovel out his replacement. He was home some time around 5:00.

I got up with him and packed an overnight bag for him on the off chance that he'd be stuck there through to Thursday morning. After he left I decided to be lazy and do a bunch of nothing. I watched some of my recorded shows and a movie. At one point I decided I should quit doing nothing so went out to shovel the sidewalk since the snow had blown onto it after he shoveled out to his jeep. Then I decided I shovel along the passenger side of my car back to the garage. By the time I got there I was exhausted and said fuck it and went back inside to rest. There was no way in hell I was going to tackle the drift on the driver side.





The above two pictures were taking from inside the back door when the snow was still blowing and coming down. The below picture is later after the sun had come out and it warmed up enough that the snow on the Rendezvous fell off on its own.


And it's still there 3 days later. My plan was to go through the passenger door when I had to go to work on Thursday.

During the movie I texted HDT to see if he heard when he'd be able to leave and he came back that 6:00 would be the earliest. But there was still a chance of him having to stay the night. He asked me if I wanted him to walk me through starting the snow blower. I told him not yet, I'd let him know if I decided to do it or not.

I decided with the chance that he wouldn't be coming home at all that I better get out there and do it because without doing it there was no way I'd make it out our driveway. His Jeep bottomed out and my Rendezvous sits lower than the Jeep. He also had to power his way out at the end of the drive, so yeah, I didn't want to take a chance.

So I got out there and had to shovel the snow drift behind the Rendezvous to be able to get into the garage.



The drift that goes up almost halfway. I tried to just shovel that messy part since the blower sits on that side of the garage. But when I tried lifting the door it wouldn't budge so I had to do the rest.



But I got it done and then texted him to ask which gas can was the correct one to use but I remembered it was the yellow one. Got it started and started blowing away. I don't know how long it took me, I wish I knew but I didn't look at the time when I started or stopped. It had to be around an hour though. Oh wait, let me go check my texts. Yep, an hour. I started around 3:15 and was texting HDT w/ a couple pictures by 4:20.


My neighbor across the street, oh wait I mean, by asshole neighbor across the street was blowing his drive as well. I see him blowing towards the street, then see him come into the street to blow the snow out of it and over to my side. I'm thinking he's being nice and is blowing the snow in front of my mailbox away. Because that's exactly what it looks like. He came onto my side about 5 times or so. But by the time I get down there I see that all he did was blow the snow onto the already high pile in front of the box that was left by the snow plows. And of course it was already bad enough from them. I was one pissed off chick let me tell you. Especially since the plow didn't get very close so our mail lady wouldn't be able to even reach the box and then he piles on top of it. PISSED I tell you!

Anyway, I get most of it blown away, she can at least drive up to it now. She'll have to back up a little bit to be able to go forward again to the next box but that's better than having to get out of her Jeep.

Anyway....

I was debating on blowing the front walk to the front door but when I got far enough up the drive to see the front of the house I decided that was just out of the question.



Yep, that snow is still there as well.

After I was done I went straight into a very hot tub to relax the muscles. I was sore and my hands were vibrating from the blower. I soaked until HDT got home just before 5:00 and luckily I haven't been sore since. That soak definitely helped.

We watched some tv, had some dinner and then I went to bed around 11:00 since I knew I'd be going into work on Thursday. I'll save my drive home yesterday with a detour to pick up pizza for dinner for another post.
