The 5th and Final 100 Things

81. I've had one one night stand. He was the sex on the beach guy.

82. That same week I could've had two more but didn't.

83. I spent all of 10 minutes at my senior prom with my boyfriend at that time. And all of 20 minutes two years later at new boyfriend's prom. I don't regret either one. The not going/staying at prom for long or the boyfriends that is.

84. I don't dance, hence no regretting of the not going to prom. At least, I don't fast dance.

85. The only song I will fast dance to is AC/DC's Shook Me All Night Long. Unless I'm drunk then maybe I'll fast dance to others. Maybe!

86. My first concert was Rush in either '86 or '87. I truly can't remember exactly when.

87. My best concert ever was of REO Speedwagon at the Louisiana State Fair in Baton Rouge. They rocked and everyone in the audience was just as much a part of the show as the band which is what made it so great.

88. My first concert with H Ditty was Alanis Morrissette's in '96. Her Jagged Little Pill tour.

89. I love being on the water, boating and fishing both. I can't wait until we take our first cruise which will be who knows when but we will.

90. I can water ski although I haven't done it in years. So maybe I can't anymore, heh.

91. I was pigeon toed as a kid and had to wear braces on my feet and legs to straighten them out. I pitched a fit so often that mom finally gave up and didn't make me wear them anymore. When I discovered boys I forced my feet to face forward and I've been fine ever since.

92. I'm a night owl. I usually don't get into bed until midnight. (Although with the new job this is changing, for most nights anyway. I'm trying to get into bed no later than 11, but that's not happening tonight.) I'm an ok morning person, I'm not grumpy or anything and I don't need coffee to wake up. Which is lucky since I can't stand the shit.

93. I saw my first porno when I was 11 at my best friends house. She knew where all of her parents stashes were. And there were plenty of both stashes and pornos.

94. I think I was around 7 or 8 when I saw my first porno mag. The proverbial mag under the bed thing, it was my oldest brother's.

95. I used to be kick ass at grammar and spelling (ha! I misspelled grammar, luckily spellcheck caught it. How funny is that?). My girlfriends would hate giving me notes during school because I would correct them. After moving to LA in one of the letters I received one of them interrupted herself to say to me, "You're probably correcting this as you're reading, aren't you?" And I was. My best friend senior year also said the same thing in my yearbook. I'm not very good at it anymore, I don't know what happened.

96. I love to play games; boardgames or cards, doesn't matter. We used to have a bi-monthly game night but don't anymore. I miss it.

97. Any type of movie trivia board game is my favorite kind of board game.

98. Favorite card game is Texas Hold'em.

99. I wear contacts and they're a pain in the ass. But I'll only ever wear my glasses when I'm home and not going anywhere. I will never ever wear them out of the house other than running out to my car or the garbage or some such thing as that.

100. I have to sleep with a fan going. The floor kind not the ceiling. Without the noise of a fan or at least some kind of motor (such as air conditioner in a motel room when on vacation) I can't sleep.

And just one more because I want to:

101. I noticed while writing and editing these 100 Things I have a lot of quirks when it comes to my sleep habits. There's at least two more that I'm not going to share. They're not dirty or anything, it's just that I've shared enough of these habits.

3rd 20 Things

I was supposed to have an introduction to The Brat Prince up by now but I haven't done what I need to do to have it posted so it'll have to be another time.

So here's the next installment of 100 things.

41. I love rainy days and thunderstorms and believe if there's going to be one where you live you should get the day off of work to enjoy it.

42. I've never lived in a home with a fireplace but I very much want one. Even if it's a gas one.

43. My favorite holiday is Christmas and I love to give more than getting. Don't get me wrong, getting is great but I love giving the "right" gift and seeing the happiness that ensues.

44. My favorite cookies are carrot cookies. I don't get them that often because they're a pain in the ass to make. Usually they're only made at Christmas because of being a pain to make. Out of all the cookies that are available they're the first to disappear because my brothers also love them so they pig out.

45. My favorite smell is freshly mown grass, I wish I could smell it when I mow my own. I believe that is one of the most unfair things ever, not being able to smell ones own mown grass.

46. Being the youngest of five I always had to sit at the "hump" in the middle of the floor in front of the back seat. I never ever got shotgun until my teen years. Even when it was just two of us going along and I yelled shotgun first.

47. I got my first "real" boyfriend when I was 18. I say "real" because the others I had lasted no more than a week.

48. Although I never did drugs nor did my youngest brother we were known by the "druggies" around town because of the 3 oldest boys. We would both have people wave at us or say hi to us as they passed us in hallways at school and on the streets of the town and we'd have no clue as to who they were. But they'd know us because of hanging out in our garage with the older brothers, they'd see us from time to time. It was very odd to say the least.

49. I have two freckles on my left pinky toe; on the top and the bottom of it.

50 I have no scars or moles of any concern so it would be hard to identify my body if that's what it would come down too.

51 I've never had a broken bone or suffered any major trauma.

52 I've never spent more than a couple hours in the hospital for myself. I've been to the emergency room a few times over the years but never for anything they couldn't treat and send me on my way.

53 My favorite meal is crawfish etouffee. Mmmmm crawfish.

54 I am an extremely picky eater and "believe" that all condiments are the devil's food.

55 I got out of eating spinach, including getting my brothers out of it when I was 10 or 11, can't remember the exact year. My mother made me stay at the kitchen table one night when I wouldn't eat my spinach. I was to stay there until I did. Finally about 2 hours later when I had had enough of sitting there I finally took a bite, plugging my nose the whole time. As soon as I swallowed it came back up along with the rest of the dinner. We never had to eat spinach again.

56 I had to share my bedroom with two of the brothers until I was 15 1/2 years old when the two oldest moved out together and their bedroom became available. The 3rd oldest brother was very upset that I got their room over him. But as mom said, I'm a girl and 15, it's only right that I no longer had to share with boys. Besides, mom, me and 4th oldest brother moved to Louisiana less than a year later and the oldest moved back and they rented the house from mom after we left.

57 I worked at a company that was a parent company for a flight school in Baton Rouge. I flew one of the two seater planes once. I didn't do the take off or the landing but I did all the flying in the air for a short while.

58 If I hadn't moved back to Illinois I would have gotten my pilots license. I still hope to do so one day.

59I don't have any phobias. Thank God! Just those bordering on ones mentioned earlier.

Media quote of the day: I'm in this restaurant, and the waiter brings me my entree. It was a salad. It was Lloyd's head on a plate of spinach with his penis sticking out of his ear. And I said, "I didn't order this." And the waiter said, "Oh you must try it, it's a delicacy. But don't eat the penis, it's just garnish." - Caroline - The Ref This is a great movie and one of the best holiday movies out their, in my humble opinion of course.

The 2nd 20 Things

21. I love roller coasters, can't get enough of them. It's too bad we haven't gone to an amusement park in ages.

22. I've never been to Disney World or Land for that matter. One of these days we'll get there.

23. I don’t know how to play any musical instrument. But if I were going to take one up I’d try the piano.

24. I once had a dream where I was making out with Bill Murray. Now that’s just eeewww! I mean, he’s funny and not “completely hopeless” (Elle in Legally Blonde) but he’s just sooo not my type.

25. I have all 10 seasons of Friends and have watched them more than once.

26. I believe in ghosts and spirits. I saw my maternal grandfather when I was eight and all alone in the house, very scary, maybe I’ll write about it one day.

27. I don't truly believe there are monsters under the bed but I still can't have a foot or hand hanging off the side of it. But that also comes from the belief in ghosts, I'm afraid one will grab me. If I wake up with one or both hanging over the side I actually have an adrenaline rush and will hurriedly snatch them under the covers. But only if it's still dark out and I'm alone. If there's daylight or H Ditty is with me I'm ok. I'll still pull them under the covers and up on the bed but I won't freak out.

28. As a child I watched Dracula (with Bela Lugosi) and developed a fear of being bitten while I slept. I started sleeping with my sheet and/or blanket laying over my neck. I believed this would deter any vampire from biting me. To this day I can't sleep without doing that even though I lost that fear around the age of 10. It can be hot as hell and I won't have a cover anywhere over my body but I have to have at least the corner of the sheet laying over my neck.

29. I'm a total bookworm and will re-read many books over and over.

30. Among my favorites are biographies of the English monarchy.

31. My dream vacation would be to go to England, Ireland and Scotland for a whole month.

32. I have fantasized about winning the Lottery to pay for this trip. But as the slogan went (in IL anyway), you gotta play to win and I don't play so I can't win.

33. I have a love/hate relationship with blogger. I was up to 48 when I went to save as draft and it lost everything up to 29 which was the last time I saved it. So I love that it's free and all but hate that it'll go down or have glitches and you lose your shit. Edit: I'm liking the new version much more though. Haven't had as many problems as before.

34. I was a shy girl but I had friends and was friendly with many people in most of the different cliques.

35. I was basically a goody two shoes, actually still am for the most part. But in grade school friends came to me to learn swear words and when to use them correctly. Although I didn't do anything sexual I knew quite a bit because of my brothers and their magazines and girlfriends so my friends would also ask about that stuff too.

36. I was in my first and only fist fight when I was in the 6th grade. I think I'll write about this one too some day.

37. I got my first and only F in my sophomore year English class. I never had to type an assignment before and this teacher said we had to have a 5 page typed research paper. And this was on a typewriter since back in '86 there basically were no home computers. I was a typical student and started typing only a couple days before it was due. I ran out of ribbon and my parents were out of town for the week and I had no way of getting more ribbon because there wasn't a store in my town that sold it. So I hand wrote the rest of the paper. It wasn't neat at all, my hand was extremely tired at the end and it got pretty sloppy. So I handed in a half typed/half handwritten research paper. Turns out I missed the part where she said if you couldn't type it than you could write it in black ink but it had to be 10 pages double lined. That wouldn't have been a problem, it would've ended up being more like 20 pages for me but no biggy. But because it was half and half and the written part was in blue ink I got a big o' F.

38. It bugs me to this day. Also, it bugs me that I can't remember who it was on. All I remember is that it was some famous Japanese guy , who was secretly gay and committed seppuku (disembowelment). Ok after going nuts I did a google search and found my guy:
Yukio Mishima (Kimitake Hiraoka) - Japanese writer.

39. I didn't go to College and I've never regretted it.

40. I went to a technical institute to become an accounting assistant. And have never regretted this either.

Media quotes of the day: I fear not ghosts, I fear them not. - Dana Whitaker - Sports Night

I am my father's daughter, and I am not afraid of anything. - Queen Elizabeth I

Ah, both great quotes, but I have admitted to fearing things so I can't say I agree.

20 Things - The start of my 100 Things

I was just going to put up all my 100 things you may not know about me on my 100th post as so many people do. But I can't think of anything to write about today and I wanted to get something up. So, since I've worked on and off on this list for a while now I've decided to put it in increments. Especially since I like to talk so quite a few of them have some kind of explanation or at least a little more info associated with it. If I had put them all up at once it'd take forever for you to read them so this way is better. So here goes, the 1st 20.

1. My name comes from a character in a book my mom read when she was 5. She doesn't remember what book, only knows for sure that it wasn't Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

2. I’m the youngest of 5 and the only girl. No, I wasn’t spoiled at all. Although many people have thought I was or at least should have been.

3. I’m #56 out of 58 grandchildren. Yes, you read that right, 56 out of 58. I’m the youngest female.

4. I was engaged at 18 and broke it off by 19.

5. I married the 2nd guy I dated after that one. We got a divorce a few years later

6. I am now married to a wonderful guy that I believe will be here for the long haul. Hi honey!

7. We have four cats; at one time we had 6. Yeah, we’re the crazy cat people down the street. One day we hope to have a dog. Already have a name too – Saint.

8. I have not quite but it's very close to a phobia of spider webs. Spiders are ok, as long as they don’t surprise me but webs just freak me the hell out if I’m touched by one. I will do whatever I can not to touch one.

9. I despise talking on the phone. It just now rang as I was typing and I looked at the caller id, saw it was my mother-in-law and just let it keep ringing. I would’ve done the same if it had been my own mother. H Ditty gets upset with me because I refuse to answer. Even if the phone is nearest me, if it rings I pick it up and toss it to him. It irritates him to no end. But he loves me anyway. Edit: So I called her back and was on the phone for an hour and 20 minutes. This is why I don’t answer the phone! Heh But I love her and I’m glad I called her back because she needed to talk to someone.

Another Edit: all that is true and since I wrote that quite a few months ago I find this very amusing. Just before starting this post his mother called again. He's already in bed and since she was calling fairly late I decided to go ahead and answer, it could be important. It wasn't, she was just calling to see if he went to days yet and what his hours are. Although she's been told numerous times that he was starting today and it's the same hours as before just the day shift. She also talked for about 40 minutes with just my "uh huhs", "yeahs", "wows" thrown in every now and then. Man that woman can talk!

10. My favorite colors are black and pink.

11. For my first wedding I threatened to have a black wedding dress. My mother and husband to be were not amused. I didn't but the bridesmaids had black and white dresses, they were very pretty.

12. My favorite number is 12. It’s been that way for as long as I can remember.

13. I take hour long baths, sometimes more if I’m really into my book.

14. I like all kinds of music. I have my preferences of course, but I can listen to just about anything. At least for awhile, some styles tend to irritate me pretty quickly.

15. I like The Three Stooges. I know weird for a chick.

16. I’m a happy drunk. I only get emotional when I’m with my sister-in-law who is an emotional drunk.

17. My best job ever was when I was 15 and I worked as a bus person at The Lighthouse Restaurant in Wisconsin Dells. Was there only 7 weeks and did all kinds of other stuff besides bussing but I loved every minute of it. It’s also where I met the first boy I ever kissed, who was 18.

18. Speaking of jobs, my first job ever was a paper route. Started helping my brothers with theirs when I was eight.

19. I got my own route at age 10 and quit at 14 because I joined the school's volleyball team. Which I ended up quitting after only 2 practices because of the snooty miss popular bitches. I just did NOT want to deal with them AT ALL. The worst part was trying to collect the payments. But the best part was getting paid myself, of course.

20. Besides Canada I’ve never been out of the country.
